It had gone through a hole in my landing net and I couldn’t reach it,I new the weight of the eel would snap my light hook length easily. The eel was deep hooked so I wouldn’t have used a disgorger on it anyway,I’d have cut the line but I couldn’t reach it to cut close enough. Using a disgorger on a deep hooked eel causes more damage than just snapping the line. The canal is 14ft deep in the edge so I wasn’t going to over reach and fall in
After fishing the festival I’d take that weight in the national mate,there were lots of areas on the canal where lads struggled to put a pound together. Thanks for watching James 👍🎣

Why not un hook the eel instead of just snapping the line and leaving the hook in ?
