As for classes, stick to the classes that have generally good spells and the format doesn't grow old. I'll probably still play over the weekend. Webspinners are cool. But Unstable Portal will be a glorious clusterfuck and I can't wait.
Future Tavern Brawl Ideas: 1. All minions have Charge 2. All minions have Taunt. Minions who already have Taunt still have attack priority over regular minions. 3. 30 Unstable Portal 4. Lots of Murlocs 5. Each player has one preset OP effect which can be played at any time, but can only be used once (similar to The Coin) 6. Each player has 60 Health 7. At the start of each turn, the turn player gets a random spell 8. Every turn, each player swaps heroes 9. Players start with minion(s) already on the board 10. Jaraxxus vs. Jaraxxus 11. Both players' decks shuffled together at start; players play with a mix of their own cards and their opponents' cards 12. All cards cost 1 mana (see General Drakkisath) 13. Every card (including spells?) have 50% chance of hitting wrong target (see Ogres) 14. All cards return to the deck when destroyed/used up (see Malorne) 15. Heroes have infinite Health (players win by dealing more damage to opposing hero than the opponent within a set number of turns) 16. Turn timer set permanently to 15 seconds. (See Nozdormu)
Dennis Chiu wow swapping heroes/decks sounds awesome. You would design a deck that would be as weak as possible because its the deck you opponent will get. Kinda funny opposite of leder :D

While I'm not at Kripp's level, I basically did the same thing - for my first two or three games with the coin I went double Webspinner, before realising it doesn't help that much, and being able to coin out something devastating like a Savannah Highmane or even a Snapjaw Oasis (able to take down 7 spinners for 4 mana) is a much better use of the coin.
Week 2 - everyone is asking for Unstable Portal vs. Webspinner brawl. Week 3 - everyone is complaining that brawl is all about RNG like they're the world's best e-sportsmen, as if it actually means something if you win or lose a game there.
***** It could be interesting to see a brawl where both players are Cho, you could have a passive hero power to gain a copy of everything your opponent plays including minions. Make it with constructed decks, all neutral minions and class spells. Could make for a fun week.

Amir Hossein Basiratnia I didn't like it as much as Kripp, but it's miles better than the banana brawl. IMO, this one falls in the middle of the other two - while Nef and Rag was imbalanced, it was my fave, as it was just wildly different from what we're used to. I do like these precon/beginner-friendly challenges though, as it allows those without huge collections to get a free pack. I have a friend who just started playing, and I don't think they got a pack last week (with pretty much just the basic cards and a few commons extra, they had little hope of building a competitive deck - so their only option would've been to play as mage and hope someone rage-conceded). This week, however, he was able to do his quests *and* get the free pack.
I think people forget that brawls weren't supposed to be hardcore challenges or anything. They can be whenever there is a deck building one but they can also just be to enjoy for the casual person. And so far i think this weeks tavern brawl was actually the best one for that. This week there is no op side since you get to choose your class aswell as the spells being random and simply comes down to how well do you use the cards that you are dealt. And while yes it is extremely rng that doesn't mean you can't still outplay your opponent. For example the flamestrike on 32:14 lucky rng that he got it but terrible use of the card imo. Because the only thing he was effectively killing off with it was a jungle panther. where as he could have held it untill the turn after when his opponent would probably start playing cards they got from the webspinners,
Tavern Brawl is my main play mode now. Webspinners are my favorite so far. First Week: 53 Wins Second Week: 23 Wins Third Week: 20 Wins by day 2 This brawl is really good at teaching noobs to plan out their turns completely before playing anything. If drawing or popping a webspinner is part of that plan, draw it first. Except when drawing first would ruin your plan. Not doing these things is so punishing in this play mode that you have no choice but to learn it. After Webspinner brawl, hopefully these good practices will be chiseled into our heads forever.
Thanks for voicing your opinion on Banana Brawl so publically! I could not agree more :D I really like watching the vids in which you talk about the game. I'm an MTG player, at heart. I miss *so many* things about MTG, as it's a beautiful game and set of mechanics. That's unfortunately the way the cookie crumbles and the world in which we live. edit: I should ask Kripp (through tip or whatever) what he thinks of a 'mana screw' in HS. Trump has been noted to say that he dislikes MTG because of the fact that a player can be mana screwed (a hand with all land or no land). I find his standpoint to be completely absurd. I've had far too many arena HS hands which have consisted entirely of 5s and 6s.
I don't know what all the beginning is coming from. I had a blast with this Brawl. The randomness actually keeps parity a lot better than a lot of constructed matches, as it lets those of us that don't want to shell out a bunch of money or just got back into the game a win to have a relatively fair fight against those who have already maxed classes and overpowered epics. I played a mage and loved it. Even if you end up with a little less favorable returns from your Webspinners, like he said, if you pick a class with good enough removal, you can easily swing the tide in your favor. Went 2-0 and might just hop back in for one more go around.
The first week of Tavern Brawl was huge and it gave everyone high expectations, so I feel that the second week was a let down intentionally, because it would've been difficult to match that level of insanity. So while the expectations of the second week was low, the third week seemed really good. I think we might have a pattern where Blizzard will unleash a really crazy brawl then introduce a weaker one then kick out up a notch with ones like these. I really hope they do this for other RNG based cards like Webspinner or Unstable Portal. Or have it have awkward mechanics where the Hero power gets switched or class cards get changed and fitted into different decks. Or if you go first you get the coin.
I disagree with two points Kripp made: 1. Nefarian vs Ragnaros would not have been enhanced by being able to tweak the premade decks. All that would happen is people would throw out crap Nef cards (Blackwing Tech, Bite, Atramedes, etc) and throw in powerful mid to high mana cards (Sylvanas, Ragnaros (lol) and so on) to make an unstoppable Nef rush deck meanwhile what can really be added to Ragnaros to help him win? A few spells maybe but he would be so far behind if your plan was followed it wouldn't even be funny. 2. The new Brawl is something many of us have been waiting for, but it's poorly executed. The spells you get being random as well is way too much. You can get 5xSac Pact or w/e and be super rekt. The spells should have been premade for all classes, this would also provide balancing as needed in case some classes did considerably better.
Sweet! Always nice to get vindication from the Kripp-man when I tell people that they shouldn't coining out two Webspinners (unless they have some justification from their spells - for example, coining out two Webspinners to play a turn 2 Snake Trap that will very likely go off can be ok).
Sometimes i like to watch kripp talk at night with the brightness turned on to the max at fullscreen . That way when i close my eyes i can see the lord kripp's face
I've had so much fun with this brawl! Rogue is definitely my favorite this time too surprisingly. I also generally try to keep board control and just pray they get flooded with chickens
agree with Kripp on this, I played the other brawls once just for the pack, but I've played this one quite a few, analyzing what the best cards are (like scavenging or tundra rhino) and what cards you should play around (like dire wolf alpha, timber wolf or kodo). I'm really enjoying this week's brawl.
So many people complaining about RNG. I think there wasn't enough RNG. There's only 33 Beasts that Webspinner can summon. That'll pretty quickly result in seeing the same beasts over and over again, and the same ways you win and lose. Would have been alot better with Unstable Portal. You would never know what would happen next! It would be great to both win and lose in such spectacular games! :D
Openyoureyesify If they did use Unstable Portal.. There will be 10x more complains about rng.. It is sad why people can't just accept the rng... You don't lose anything in this gamemode like ranked or arena.. Come on guys.
I would really like to see future brawls let you use a mix of classes. Like a Rouge deck using a few Warrior cards or two Tavern Heroes using 3 types of class cards.
I missed the first one entirely because there was a problem after patching and it took Blizz 8 days to sort it out. Honestly, I really liked the Bananas one. It fitted in really well with my deck and I really got the hang of it in the short time I got to play it. The only deck I really play is my "custom" hunter deck. All it consist of, is 29 hunter cards and King Krush. It is a surprisingly effective deck. For this time round, again, I chose the hunter deck. I'm familiar with it and won my first 3 brawls without issue. I'm sitting on around 8 or 10 wins for the first couple of hours. Plus with the hunter, you can get that card, I forget what it's called, it triggers all deathrattles. Very effective for getting some cards without trading off your webspinners. As for the hero power, I've found plenty of opportunities to use it effectively. But as I said, i always play hunter and have mastered that class. I seem to have come across two main strategies with this brawl theme. People either go for the throat from the start or play conservatively. I've seen a few cards from classes other than hunter that buff the entire board and win in one turn. So this taught me to go for the go for the throat option myself. Clear everything. I'd never thought of using the event to get quests done, good idea.
Intereting. Paladin is kinda op in this challenge, in my opinion. His spells are very powerful, starting from Muster for battle, which just destroys an opponent, through multiple heals and card draws (soleign vigil, if thats how the card is called, is really good) and ending on removals: equality is unbelieveably valuable here and you have consecration for immidiate resolving the problem of scavenging hiena.
Kripp: Best brawl this far! Noxious: Worst brawl, only rng, won't play that many games this week Kripp: Most of the time it's better to go first Noxious: It's so much better to go second because you get the coin AND more cards to chose your play from
warlock was the best rng for me in terms of spell. Bane of doom into next turn demon hearth won me a game but druid had by far the most consistent score for me with occasional swipes, buffs and savage roars.
Don't know why people are complaining about this tavern brawl. Tavern brawl is literally designed to have weird/crazy decks and a deck that has mainly webspinners is pretty crazy. Please, at least it's not as bad as the banana one which was literally just aggro decks.
i really liked using my hero power at turn 2 as druid if i went first and the opponent coined too double spider. I thought it was a good trade to start. and ideas kripp?
In the first 5 turns or so my oponent got 3 hungry crabs, a captain's parrot and another webspiner out his first webspiners. Still feel sorry for that guy.
Paladin wins for two reasons. The hero power is a champion mid-late game, where your token helps carry your momentum, and: Muster for Battle. Holy hell, I won so many games with that card.
I used druid three times and all three got a Krush and opponent quit but usually not until after i used call of the wild on a full board and mark of nature for good measure.
That 1/1 doggy is really valuable in this brawl since you're only playing beast cards. I try to use it as a late game modifier instead as an early game sacrifice. Your opponent is just gonna take it away from you with a spider and he's getting too much value in return.
from the 1 game i played i concluded that playing mage and fireblasting your own webspinners to death while going face is a legit strategy. webspinners are only good if they die, so killing your own is more effective than killing theirs

I wish they would let you play old tavern brawls. I'm guessing the point of it was to add something fresh and new to the game, and I think that would further the idea a lot.

I played this brawl and got a Starving Buzzard. I had it on the board, it survived a turn, and I was out of cards,so I drew the webspinner, played it, drew another, and did so until I drew Quickshot into another webspinner and flooded my board.
I played a lot as Druid and it's awesome! I pretty much won any single game that I buffed multiple cards with Power of the Wild, Soul of the Forest and others Random spells were great until I got 2 Tree of Life...
Just because its RnG doesn't mean its not fun guys. And it still takes skill, otherwise everyone would have around 50% win rates like in the first tavern brawl
nice that you said coining out a 2nd webspinner is bad.. I won every game when my opponent did exactly that so when I got my one (and only) coin I kept it and won again. :)
People who complain about this Brawl are probably mostly tryhards. TAVERN BRAWL IS MEANT TO BE CASUAL AND FUN, so why complain about the complete RNG in this week's Brawl?! And so what if your opponent gets three King Krushes? Laugh it off and play another game.
Random, that explains a lot. I was playing warlock, my spells were sacrificial pact, demonfire and demonheart times two. I thought blizzard had madea mistakeoe wanted me to buff worthless imps and then sacrifice them (that was my first game)
I guess my best moment was when I won a game because I used totemic might to buff my taunt totem to 4 hp when enemy had 2 Webspinners + King Krush. I wait for the moment when a Warlock gets Sacrificial Pact and uses is on a Mage who got Jaraxxus out of a portal :D
A lot of people are complaining about how much this tavern brawl sucks because of the webspinner RNG. Personally I dont mind the idea, what killed this Tavern brawl for me was the class spells, I felt this brawl should have centered around both players using only Webspinners, to truly emphasize the chaotic nature of this brawl, but with the inclusion of random class spells, it only ruined the experience for me, because the fun of the brawl was what beast I could get through webspinners, worrying about what spells would be in my deck or my opponent's deck through RNG only got in the way of the experience. I still think this is the worse Tavern Brawl so far, Nefarian vs Rag was my favorite, the Banana brawl was flawed but it was still fun. This new brawl in my mind is just average.
Yesterday I played a game where The Beast got played 3 times and King of Beasts got played as a badass 7/6. I call that a success. (facing an early hyena drop is still kind of bullshit though)
My first game of Brawl I won with a King Krush. Opened the free pack and ironically enough got King Krush. Not that I play Hunter, but it's only my second legendary from packs and a cool thing to have happen I thought.
At 6:30-ish, Kripp says you can get a new free account and run the tavern brawl and complete quests to get up to speed. But, you have to be level 20 to do tavern brawl.
I actually roped myself and didn't manage to kill gah'zrilla (or however you spell it) at the end of my turn because some of my creatures didn't manage to attack... Let's just say I was at -169

I preferred Nef v Rag. This week was fun by it not as visually stimulating.
The Tundra Rhino covered in spiders makes for a most effective weapon. It's also a horrifying thought.

Coming from a Magic background, this is easily comparable to Momir Basic mode on MTGO, and again, while niche, some of us out there love it.
They should make a Nozdormu Brawl, each round is 15 seconds!
The first week of Tavern Brawl was huge and it gave everyone high expectations, so I feel that the second week was a let down intentionally, because it would've been difficult to match that level of insanity. So while the expectations of the second week was low, the third week seemed really good. I think we might have a pattern where Blizzard will unleash a really crazy brawl then introduce a weaker one then kick out up a notch with ones like these. I really hope they do this for other RNG based cards like Webspinner or Unstable Portal. Or have it have awkward mechanics where the Hero power gets switched or class cards get changed and fitted into different decks. Or if you go first you get the coin.
I disagree with two points Kripp made:
1. Nefarian vs Ragnaros would not have been enhanced by being able to tweak the premade decks. All that would happen is people would throw out crap Nef cards (Blackwing Tech, Bite, Atramedes, etc) and throw in powerful mid to high mana cards (Sylvanas, Ragnaros (lol) and so on) to make an unstoppable Nef rush deck meanwhile what can really be added to Ragnaros to help him win? A few spells maybe but he would be so far behind if your plan was followed it wouldn't even be funny.
2. The new Brawl is something many of us have been waiting for, but it's poorly executed. The spells you get being random as well is way too much. You can get 5xSac Pact or w/e and be super rekt. The spells should have been premade for all classes, this would also provide balancing as needed in case some classes did considerably better.
Sweet! Always nice to get vindication from the Kripp-man when I tell people that they shouldn't coining out two Webspinners (unless they have some justification from their spells - for example, coining out two Webspinners to play a turn 2 Snake Trap that will very likely go off can be ok).
Sometimes i like to watch kripp talk at night with the brightness turned on to the max at fullscreen . That way when i close my eyes i can see the lord kripp's face

I've had so much fun with this brawl! Rogue is definitely my favorite this time too surprisingly. I also generally try to keep board control and just pray they get flooded with chickens
agree with Kripp on this, I played the other brawls once just for the pack, but I've played this one quite a few, analyzing what the best cards are (like scavenging or tundra rhino) and what cards you should play around (like dire wolf alpha, timber wolf or kodo). I'm really enjoying this week's brawl.
So many people complaining about RNG. I think there wasn't enough RNG. There's only 33 Beasts that Webspinner can summon. That'll pretty quickly result in seeing the same beasts over and over again, and the same ways you win and lose. Would have been alot better with Unstable Portal. You would never know what would happen next! It would be great to both win and lose in such spectacular games! :D
Openyoureyesify If they did use Unstable Portal.. There will be 10x more complains about rng.. It is sad why people can't just accept the rng... You don't lose anything in this gamemode like ranked or arena.. Come on guys.

I would really like to see future brawls let you use a mix of classes. Like a Rouge deck using a few Warrior cards or two Tavern Heroes using 3 types of class cards.
I missed the first one entirely because there was a problem after patching and it took Blizz 8 days to sort it out.
Honestly, I really liked the Bananas one. It fitted in really well with my deck and I really got the hang of it in the short time I got to play it. The only deck I really play is my "custom" hunter deck. All it consist of, is 29 hunter cards and King Krush. It is a surprisingly effective deck.
For this time round, again, I chose the hunter deck. I'm familiar with it and won my first 3 brawls without issue. I'm sitting on around 8 or 10 wins for the first couple of hours. Plus with the hunter, you can get that card, I forget what it's called, it triggers all deathrattles. Very effective for getting some cards without trading off your webspinners. As for the hero power, I've found plenty of opportunities to use it effectively. But as I said, i always play hunter and have mastered that class.
I seem to have come across two main strategies with this brawl theme. People either go for the throat from the start or play conservatively. I've seen a few cards from classes other than hunter that buff the entire board and win in one turn. So this taught me to go for the go for the throat option myself. Clear everything.
I'd never thought of using the event to get quests done, good idea.
GUYS!, tavern brawl is for fun and not for tryhardying. RNG is the best thing in Hearthstone and it is even better in this mode.
Now what they should have done is the full unstable portal deck, was a blast in Blackrock and would be great in pvp. Good luck and prosper

Intereting. Paladin is kinda op in this challenge, in my opinion. His spells are very powerful, starting from Muster for battle, which just destroys an opponent, through multiple heals and card draws (soleign vigil, if thats how the card is called, is really good) and ending on removals: equality is unbelieveably valuable here and you have consecration for immidiate resolving the problem of scavenging hiena.

warlock was the best rng for me in terms of spell. Bane of doom into next turn demon hearth won me a game but druid had by far the most consistent score for me with occasional swipes, buffs and savage roars.
Don't know why people are complaining about this tavern brawl. Tavern brawl is literally designed to have weird/crazy decks and a deck that has mainly webspinners is pretty crazy. Please, at least it's not as bad as the banana one which was literally just aggro decks.
The most broken combo is Buzzard & Rhino, you sac a webspinner to draw another one, play and sac, and repeat until you are out of cards.

personaly i love to play druid because soul of the forest is preety OP when your board is filled with webspinners and yuknow swipe is preety good to.
i really liked using my hero power at turn 2 as druid if i went first and the opponent coined too double spider. I thought it was a good trade to start. and ideas kripp?
Hunters have Feign Death which just looks really crushing for the guy at the other end.
Unstable Portal gave me Hemet. First time He's EVER been playable.

Ya know what would be great, if, when you choose your class, there was a small chance that you would get Hemet Nesingwary in your deck.
In the first 5 turns or so my oponent got 3 hungry crabs, a captain's parrot and another webspiner out his first webspiners. Still feel sorry for that guy.
Paladin wins for two reasons.
The hero power is a champion mid-late game, where your token helps carry your momentum, and:
Muster for Battle. Holy hell, I won so many games with that card.
I used druid three times and all three got a Krush and opponent quit but usually not until after i used call of the wild on a full board and mark of nature for good measure.
Priest was the best class for tavern brawl, after 3rd turn, those heals really added up.
That 1/1 doggy is really valuable in this brawl since you're only playing beast cards. I try to use it as a late game modifier instead as an early game sacrifice. Your opponent is just gonna take it away from you with a spider and he's getting too much value in return.
from the 1 game i played i concluded that playing mage and fireblasting your own webspinners to death while going face is a legit strategy. webspinners are only good if they die, so killing your own is more effective than killing theirs
First one: It was alright, a bit unbalanced but pretty fun
Second one: I enjoyed stomping with OP decks
This one: Pretty fun, about as fun as the first one.

I wish they would let you play old tavern brawls. I'm guessing the point of it was to add something fresh and new to the game, and I think that would further the idea a lot.
All these people talking about the RNG. They should just let Brawl have player-made decks...and take out the dumb randomness of each week.

I just had a game were I had +2 spellpower and he and two minions out and I used arcane missiles and all 5 missiles hit face. How unlikely is that?
How does he use the purchased heroes in arena? I have all three but I can only choose from the 9 default classes.
I definitely have been noticing that a lot of the time, my opponent and I are getting the exact same beast when we kill off our webspinners
Kripp don't you think that the ratio for Webspinners are too high? IMO 15:15 or like 18:12 would be better.
I played this brawl and got a Starving Buzzard.
I had it on the board, it survived a turn, and I was out of cards,so I drew the webspinner, played it, drew another, and did so until I drew Quickshot into another webspinner and flooded my board.

I have met almost nothing but Rouge every game I've played so far, Druid seems to match up well against them though.
They could do an unstable portal brawl with maybe a few specific spells like this

I played a lot as Druid and it's awesome! I pretty much won any single game that I buffed multiple cards with Power of the Wild, Soul of the Forest and others
Random spells were great until I got 2 Tree of Life...
Just because its RnG doesn't mean its not fun guys. And it still takes skill, otherwise everyone would have around 50% win rates like in the first tavern brawl

I played mage once(i normally play druid in this mode) and i got 3 Pyroblasts, was pretty topkek
I want to see a 1v1v1 brawl just because it would be so crazy. Although this is probably outside the realms of possibility for them.
People who complain about this Brawl are probably mostly tryhards. TAVERN BRAWL IS MEANT TO BE CASUAL AND FUN, so why complain about the complete RNG in this week's Brawl?! And so what if your opponent gets three King Krushes? Laugh it off and play another game.

Random, that explains a lot. I was playing warlock, my spells were sacrificial pact, demonfire and demonheart times two. I thought blizzard had madea mistakeoe wanted me to buff worthless imps and then sacrifice them (that was my first game)
Playing as Warrior, I got this combo off: Gahz'rilla + Charge + Inner Rage for 20 burst damage =D

Whichever one gives beast charge is super strong. If someone plays that with high mana, they can smash your face in or clear super easy.
I actually think this Tavern brawl is easily the least fun
So, this hopefully guarantees Unstable Portal wars for a future brawl.

I guess my best moment was when I won a game because I used totemic might to buff my taunt totem to 4 hp when enemy had 2 Webspinners + King Krush.
I wait for the moment when a Warlock gets Sacrificial Pact and uses is on a Mage who got Jaraxxus out of a portal :D

I've played 9 shaman games, got Farsight every time. Not a single Lightning Storm or Feral Spirit though. I'm kinda mad.
A lot of people are complaining about how much this tavern brawl sucks because of the webspinner RNG. Personally I dont mind the idea, what killed this Tavern brawl for me was the class spells, I felt this brawl should have centered around both players using only Webspinners, to truly emphasize the chaotic nature of this brawl, but with the inclusion of random class spells, it only ruined the experience for me, because the fun of the brawl was what beast I could get through webspinners, worrying about what spells would be in my deck or my opponent's deck through RNG only got in the way of the experience.
I still think this is the worse Tavern Brawl so far, Nefarian vs Rag was my favorite, the Banana brawl was flawed but it was still fun. This new brawl in my mind is just average.
Yesterday I played a game where The Beast got played 3 times and King of Beasts got played as a badass 7/6. I call that a success. (facing an early hyena drop is still kind of bullshit though)
My first game of Brawl I won with a King Krush. Opened the free pack and ironically enough got King Krush. Not that I play Hunter, but it's only my second legendary from packs and a cool thing to have happen I thought.
At 6:30-ish, Kripp says you can get a new free account and run the tavern brawl and complete quests to get up to speed. But, you have to be level 20 to do tavern brawl.
I actually roped myself and didn't manage to kill gah'zrilla (or however you spell it) at the end of my turn because some of my creatures didn't manage to attack... Let's just say I was at -169
