Hi there. I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU for putting this on you tube!!!!!! My daughter is the Highland dancer, second row back, right on the end. We are from New Zealand and so to see her so close up performing has just been fantastic. I can see she has a smile on her face.......she says the atmosphere has been her highlight. They arrive back in NZ on Wednesday next week, so I'm looking forward to showing her too. Many thanks again. Its been the highlight of my day finding this footage. Jacqui McLay NZ.

Thank you for sharing this! I was there in Edinburgh, but did not know about this until it was too late, and did not have tickets... but I was literally down the hill most of the night and heard the amazing music (and cannons!) all night!! I wish I could have been there!!

Glad to have helped, In fairness all of the dancers had permanent smiles. Unfortunately I had a very bad seat as I was there for the bands.

I was at this years Tattoo. My first trip to Scotland. My Mom was born and raised in Perth. My fathers family came to Canada in 1852, from Iverness, Moffatt County. I have always known about my Scots heritage. I didn't think it mattered much, after all, I was born in Canada. But then, something clicked. I found out about my Gandpa. He was Blackwatch. WW2, got caught and spend the rest of the war in a prison camp in Poland. He survived to bring his family to Canada in 1947. I also found out that my Great-Grandfather, my Grandmothers dad, signed with the Canadian Army and died at Vimy Ridge. He was a Scot, from Perth. I have his photo with the Canadian tag on his uniform. I will never know why he joined the Canadians, there is no one left that can tell me. Grandma would never talk about it. She died in 2005. I still have family in Scotland, but they are as in the dark as I am. I have 1 photo of my grandmother with her Dad. This is the only time they ever met! One old photo. So much is going on in the world today. None of it good. My great-grandfathers death at Vimy, my Grandfathers imprisonment in a camp, they did not do this for nothing! The world is at an impasse. So much wrong happening!! Do not let what my family did, and died for, be moot. It isn't just them, but every soldier with them were fighting for our freedom! Please, we have to stop the insanity that is happening. Canada is now a target for this ISIS group. We have done them no wrong, but it does not seem to matter. If my great-grandfather, and my grandfather were alive today Blackwatch lives!! You dare threaten us? NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT

Thanks so much for posting this video, was searching around for it for quite some time now. I wished I could be there to witness the atmosphere during the lighting of the candles to commemorate the start of World War 1, but nonetheless it was still kind of grand to see such a sight. I'm also glad that you included the SAF Central Band in your video especially the part when they sang 'Wild Mountain Thyme', the good thing was that the song was in English. You should watch how they tackle German, Swedish, Russian in the Military Tattoos' that they had went for these past few years.

During 'Going Home', who are the people in the stripy jumpers at the front and what are they holding?
