Since he does not jump well, or have great lateral quickness, would it be smart to have him be very aggressive on defense, and get into foul trouble? imo, he is too talented offensively to risk having him in foul trouble very often. Since he carries such a heavy load on offense, the Nuggets need to make up for his limitations on defense. He does rebound, deflect passes and get steals. The only thing he can't do very well is protect the rim.

The Nuggets depend on Jokic to be on the floor, not sitting on the bench in foul trouble or having to play matador defense and soft offense late in games due to foul trouble. What the Nuggets need is a perimeter defender. Murray, Strawther, Porter, and Watson are a whos-who of terrible perimeter defenders. Westbrook is better than all of them and he's not exactly been known for his perimeter defense. Things are so bad right now that half the time Jokic is the one diving out to challenge 3-pt shots, which is both not a good contest, and then also takes him out of position for clearing the boards. That's only going to change by the Nuggets trading for someone who can play defense and navigate screens the way KCP could.
I watch almost every gm intensively. This gm was definitely not Jokers fault. We can't and shouldn't expect him to be Superman every night. Coach went with a small lineup for starters. Cavs have 2 mobile big dudes out there that can shoot. One was knocking down 3's effortlessly. The Cavs were playing tight, aggressive defense and were getting away with a lot of contact with ball handlers & screeners. Their offense creates open looks for skilled shooters. This is why Denver lost, same reason we've had other losses.

Jokic is absolutely right. When AG, KCP, BB, RB and JG came to Denver, we can see the difference. Not only did they bring the skills set to the Nuggets, they also brought the winning desire, fire and spirits to the Nugs.
