- Galaxy's Most Wanted has arrived and with it, two brand new heroes: Groot and Rocket Raccoon!
Today we're looking at all of Groot's cards and I'll give you my review and thoughts on each new one that comes in his pack!
Keep in mind, this is just one person's opinions, it is by no means a definitive verdict on the cards. These are based on one individual's experience in multiple solo and multiplayer games. We hope you enjoy it!

I'm hoping they come out with an "Honorary Guardians" card similar to "Honorary Avengers"...
That would be cool! I imagine we'll see some more Guardian support cards as more of the heroes are released. I'm really curious to see what other player cards come in the upcoming packs. Thanks for the comment! -Dylann
Star-Lord makes all his allies guardians when you play them. That's pretty cool.
I'm groot :) The most imported thing in your video's like this: you have all ready played the hero and with that you know how it feel playing him. In Belguim, i havn't here from my shop its allready there :( So, I'm still waiting. His counters stay when there is no more than 3 damage, because his defence stat or am I wrong? His nemesis minion is strong. So, my expierence with nemesis minions, i have allways problems with them :D And that's the fun of the game: how will a defeat them quickly. How longer they stay, you have more and more problems... Thx for the video. My weekend begins, so, it's a nice beginning!
First: Thank you for this great content. At the beginning I was skeptical, if it's worth the time, but it is indeed. Keep it up I will watch on. Now I have to say I envy you. Here in Germany I expect to have to wait a week or so before I get my hands on GMW because of the Brexit. The whole set seems to be very good and I tend to say that it would have felt more thematic without a good way to thwart. I don't know the comics but out of the MCU it fells like groot is not a very smart tree on his own. Maybe this is because of solo play and Hulk was a lesson they've learned idk. If Groot is too powerful, you can add the house rule to communicate like Groot, this will make it a bit harder :D

Groot's blocking capability is insane and I love the neutral guardian alleys introduced in this set I am hoping this continues on to the other guardian hero packs so we can have a deck with all 5 guardians.
I hadn't actually thought of that, having all the guardians introduced as basic allies so you can create a deck with all of them. I'm really hoping that happens now too! - Dylann
@@AllYouCanBoard Pairing the allies up with Triskelion and you can have all of them on the field at once.
Excellent overview (again). Really interesting and unique hero (great job FFG). Protection just feels like the best fit for Groot thematically but I'm hoping some of the other aspects (leadership?) also work out with him. Out of the new cards introduced "Hard to Ignore" seems pretty hard to beat for value as an upgrade. Keep up the great content! Looking forward to the rest of the GMW reviews.

Nice overview and review. Looking forward to Rocket's review. Groot Aggression works great once you have Deft and Martial Prowess out. He can block until he gets built and then go all in on damage. His biggest drawback is lack of resources and card draw.

I cannot wait for this set! I literally shrieked when they announced it at GenCon. All I gotta say is, please keep the MC content coming because I'm loving it! Also Groot and Rocket are my favorite guardians characters so it's a win-win for me that they both come in this box.

Im kinda late but just got gmw today. Only played with groot vs my favorite villan rihno. Im a fan of protection so im glad they get more treat removal.
He looks like loads of fun, I can’t wait to play them both soon

The campaign is really fun and I love how difficult it's proving to be. Making lots of adjustments between scenarios, even full aspect changes in some cases. -Dylann

Another great video! Did you play the campaign with the precon decks?
I started the campaign with the preconstructed decks so I could test out all the new cards at once, but I did some modifying as I went and even did a full aspect change for one of the villains as well.

I agree that Groot is going to be so good with Protection. I think he would also do well in Leadership, especially with the card that gives out Tough statuses.
One nice thing about the Dauntless retaliate ability is that it does not require you to defend, unlike Electrostatic Armor.
Difficult to pick a favorite card until I get to play them. My copy is arriving tomorrow. I do like the fact that they went away from making the team-up ally a Signature card. Keeps you from having a dead card in your deck when you and your co-op partner decide to play Rocket and Groot, as opposed to if you play Ant-Man & Wasp, or Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch. Plus now what would have been a Signature ally can be used in any other deck (assuming the Guardian trait of course).

Deft focus is crazy for QS a lot of the time fr goes wasted, now he can play maximum velocity and double time for free. Helps for combo turns. Rocket is really fun as well

I like the way they’ve done all of the Guardians. Really captured their characters with their theming. With this deck (and Drax), the new protection cards are exciting. Justice and Protection need some love and it’s nice to see one of them get it. Justice needs to get some love now.

@@AllYouCanBoard I really thought Gamora was going to be Justice, but that's not entirely what happened. Looking ahead at the leaks, I'm not seeing a natural fit for Justice. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a second pass at Hulk with Aggression and use a similar counter system Drax has.
Wow, some of these protection cards are incredibly good for retaliation focused characters. I’m excited for the future of green cards!
Yeah, I'm pretty thrilled with the protection additions! And we have more coming soon with Drax!

I agree that Groot is super cool. The choice of how to spend the tokens makes for exciting and dynamic gameplay.
Obviously Protection is really strong as you can protect your tokens, but you have to watch because the strength of Protection is to keep you healthy and in hero mode long term, so if you flip a lot you are somewhat undermining the strength of your protection cards. I actually think with protection lends itself best to a playstyle where you get to high token count and only use the upgrades sparingly.
Leadership would run a bunch of cheap allies to chump block, protecting your tokens and would be versatile enough to flip fairly often also, tho relying on ally blocks is less consistent than a defense protection deck.
Justice doesn't seem immediately good, but it works really well as it enables a super flip heavy playstyle, allowing you to constantly be gaining tokens.
Aggression is probably my least favorite, but Groot does have 5 attacks for Martial Prowess.

Dauntless seem great on Quicksilver as he can block twice.
QS seemingly just gets more powerful by the day!
I am excited for deft focuses impact on older and future decks. It pairs well with Quicksilver, Ms. Marvel, and Spiderwoman. Plus it makes Hulk and Thor easier to play with their low hand sizes.
Agreed, I really enjoy when cards get introduced that make you rethink older Heroes and open up new deck-building possibilities. -Dylann
Months ago I home brewed a card almost identical to Deft Focus for the purposes of helping Hulk and it ended up being a lot less helpful than I thought. Partly because Hulk only has 6 cards with the superpower trait and 2 of them (sub-orbital leaps) are still not great cards, solo Thunderclap can be situational in terms of getting enough targets. Also all his superpower cards are 3 cost which puts him in this awkward position with limitless strength where odds are if that’s in your hand you’re just going to use that instead of Deft Focus. Also when you’re using deft focus those 3 cost cards became 2 cost and 2 cost cards are really awkward in Hulk’s deck unless you have some other kind of resource generation to pay for them. A lot of the time you’ll just be left with 1 extra card that you have to discard at the end of your turn because of his hero ability.

Great rundown! This question might be more appropriate in your campaign video, but do you think it's possible to play it at 5 players? I'm waiting for all the guardians to release before playing it and it just seems wrong to not have the whole team lol.
I know some people don't like the game at high player counts but i don't mind. I'd probably keep the villain health at 4p though. Currently the only scenario that can't scale past 4p is kang. Are there any in gmw?
Thanks for the comment! I honestly haven't viewed the campaign from the perspective of whether it would adapt to 5 players! I'll keep that in mind as I play the scenarios again to see if I encounter any issues.
In terms of playing with all the guardians, keep in mind that if we keep getting Guardian allies as BASIC allies instead of signature hero ones, you actually will be able to eventually put them all into a single deck and play with all the Guardians! All depends if they keep being printed as basic. Fingers crossed, would be cool to play around with!
Deft Focus would also work really well with Ms Marvel because of her ability to return Events back to her big hands.

What's the difference between hero interrupt and hero response and are those optional actions or do we have to do both ?
That’s silly. Hulk, if you build a good deck and understand how he works is a GREAT hero. People just wanna complain. Also, great review! Can’t wait for my box to show up in the mail :)

Did I miss somthing, or dose Groot not have a signature ally?
His signature ally is basically Rocket Raccoon, but it's a basic ally instead. And Rocket has Groot as a basic ally. They aren't part of their hero cards though.

@@jfducusin7186 Yeah. There is both positives and negatives with this approach. However, with these two it makes sense as they want to be paired togeather.
