I grow Kesar every year at my home in a port for myself, it's an amazing experience. I simply put its small bulbs in ordinary soil and add some organic matter. I got great results effortlessly.
I live in the UK, the weather is favorable for Kesar, that's why I can grow easily and multiply its bulbs. I grow it for my hobby, not for business. And it's not Sir, it's madam.
As I said I'm not a professional I never analyzed what temperature they require to grow well, but let me explain to you about the Uk atmosphere in which I grew my saffron plants. I sow my bulbs in a clay pot. About somewhere middle of September and within 3 months I harvest my flowers. The weather in September is mild, there are some lucky days when it's sunny. Rain every other day. Temperatures remain about 12 to fifteen-degree celsius. Once they finished flowering I leave them alone in the garden carelessly, they thrive on their own. The winter weather is very harsh in the UK, the temperature comes down below 0 degrees delicious, lots of frosts and the soil remains frozen. In March April their temperatures start to stable. But it is still very cold. I feed them only when the sunny days start so they can store energy for the next season. In the middle of Jun, their leave becomes yellow, and I take out of the soil. The soil recommendation is as usual for other general plants: nutritious, soft, and well-drained. I hope at this moment, Delhi has the ideal temperature but still, I am not sure if you can grow them well as you can try your luck. You can keep the pot under the shade, near a water body, or in the middle of the crops, where is a lot of humidity available. Before they flower you don't need to feed them much because any bulb can flower only if it had stored energy during its previous growing season. Once they finished flowering then feed them an organic liquid feed. Don't keep them under the harsh sun. Once the temperature will race about 25 degrees Celsius they turn yellow, then don't water them, take them out of the soil and keep them safe for the next season.

To get 1 kg saffron in such a small area completely impossible to get we need 15,000-20,000 flowers to produce 1 kilogram of saffron spice. In terms of labour, producing this amount takes 370-470 hours!
