The part where he said 'Thank you, thank you for being my friend.' for some reason are the most inspiring words I've ever heard. Thank you Terry Wogan, God bless you.
I actually couldn't listen to his last show, although I listened to this extract a while back and cried. When the announcement of his passing was on the radio, my wife and I cried, as I know so may others did too. If ever there were poignant words, 'Thankyou for being my friend' (singular) Yes, he spoke to us all individually...
Just listening to his voice again after such a long time made me think how good his calming golden Irish voice was, His wit, his charm, his vulnerability in this clip.... sadly missed and probably the best popular broadcaster of many a generation.... There will never be another Terry.....
I listened to this live it made me cry. Here we are in 2019 and the tears run all over again even more so since Terry's passing. He was a one off. RIP Terry
And now 2022. Morning radio is not, or will never again be the same. Just don’t make em like Sir Terry any more . Thank the Lord for TH-cam so can get a fix of Janet and John stories as and when!!!
My dad introduced me and i listened to him secretly as a teenager in the early 80s ( it wasn’t a cool Thing ) he always made me think of my dad and always made me happy ,, I remember his word play with songs which made me laugh ( lou seal was my favourite) thanks terry rip.
Not often that you see only love in the TH-cam comments, shows how much of an impression this guy made on us all. You'll always be my favourite Radio presenter Terry, and sorely missed!

My husband (a native northerner) saying, ooohh you have to listen to this, he's sooo funny... For years I've been waking up to Wogan, and it feels like a part of my family has passed. When I was young, Wogan was a prime time TV host, a Saturday night fixture. With a new wave of edgy comedians coming along, he was someone your parents listened to. Only when I got older did I realise how funny, warm and generous a broadcaster he was. Pure class.
God bless him!!!! I will miss Terry! I'm 39..... and he's always been there, radio... TV Children in need..... What a nice genuine guy! You will be missed by many Terry!!

In a world where we currently seem so far apart, he is a gentle reminder of how we can come together. "Kindness is the most important thing in life" said Terry.

Just bear with me because this is hopefully worth a read. I was working at BBC many years ago and needed to go into the studios at Radio 2. I walked into the studio door at 9:30 to be greeted by Terry Wogan who have just finished his show. This was in the days when he had a daily theme, and that day it was farmhouse breakfast. He greeted me and asked me how I was regardless of the fact that he didn’t know me he asked me if I had breakfast that morning, and I said no. He proceeded to order another plate, got another knife and fork and shared his breakfast with me. we chatted about all sorts of things, I asked him, for example, who was the most memorable person he had ever met? He said he met so many famous people. However, the most memorable was a soldier from the Falklands war Simon Western who had a real story, was a real person and was the most most lovely genuine person he’d ever met. I had my photograph taken with him and he went on his way. I then had calls to go back to the same studio to finish the work that I’ve started about two weeks later, and as I walked to the door the first thing he said was hello Martin, how are you? He asked me had I had breakfast that morning and I said no. That morning it was pumpkin pie, and again he got another plate and another knife and fork, and we ate breakfast together. This is Terry Wogan who didn’t know me, but took the time to know me and make me feel like his friend. I can’t express what that brief couple of chance meetings meant to me, what a gent, Sir Terry Wogan was. Memories of two brief meetings that will stay with me forever.
Terry, Rest in Peace. All heartfelt sympathy to your family. You have made me smile on the darkest wettest mornings. As we both came from Ireland, you would say things I hadn't heard for years and would find myself laughing out loud alone in my car. There has never been a word of gossip about you.
