The fact that it’s actual dancers I find actually makes a lot of sense, it’s probably a lot less expensive to hire a bunch of dancers then to do all that animating, also a lot less time consuming so they can get dances out sooner
I think another benefit is also knowing that the dances are danceable and not too complicated, and also fun. I assume they will get some feedback from the dancers or the choreographers

So I think that in the older games the dancers were just in mocap suits but recently they’ve committed to the full costume thing as a way to make the dancers seem more real?

Honestly I prefer the real dancers anyway. Those animated ones are so hard to follow for me because it looks fake.
Also makes it look better cause they’d need references for the dance moves anyways so they’d film someone dancing to begin with 😂
They still have to hire animators. Obviously this isn't how it looks when you play the game

they redo your makeup a few times throughout the shoot to keep you fresh!!
