Hillside Road Supporting Stone Wall-Part 1-Cutting Hill with Hyundai Excavator.
In this video, the hyundai excavator operator is cutting a mountainside for a mountain road supporting stone wall. As many of you guys said once it rains the hill will slide again and the road will be back to its old condition. So here, the villagers are trying to protect the road from landslides and using stones to support the road by holding the hill. It may help the road by not destroying too much of the rod but we'll see what happens next. In the next video, the operator will be continuing his job.

I would hate to come in after this guy and try to smooth out the road. He left and put so many big rocks in the road way. Going to take a lot of work to get it drivable.

Also think about a drainage ditch and culverts at the water points along road. Water points are spots where water is flowing down the hillside.

If the water has no chance to leave the road, the road becomes a creek. The first approach with the stone wall is given, but the essential is still missing: every 50 meters a gully!

When you put up wall make sure you have a small drain at the base of wall. Cover drain with small stone. Cover small stone with soil. This way water will seep out and will not flow out and erode the road.

If you read what I say I do retaining walls with my uncle in our landscaping company and I am just offering insight and advice. I am happy to see you starting to do tasks that will help you with your erosion issues. I would also suggest that as you build retaining walls you should think about terracing above and below the road to establish a foundation to prevent erosion issues.
