All I know for sure is the darkness is a completely separate entity from the void in gumball but i do want to point out the darkness doesn’t start assimilating the characters until after it got bun bun and it’s implied to have appeared in pibbys world first so whatever the darkness is went for pibbys world first for a reason

My idea is that the darkness was created by a abandoned cartoon character or many of them because of his/her hatred against those who made it big deciding to end it all by destroying everything and everyone... Maybe even gaining enough strength to break through the fourth wall.

The Pibby corruption can be seen as he takes over Fred flint stone which is a main character. You can see multiple other Front line/Main characters. Adding to this in the original Pibby skit before traveling to other worlds. Bun bun is taken as the corruption could be seen trying to separate Pibby and bun bun aka trying to make her just accept her fate. This can be tied into a hypothetical situations as we know Gumball as Corrupted and as we saw in the big clash Darwin survived I’m sure can be take noticed that. Darwin would try to help his corrupted brother having the main character as bait is a good tactic to take charge. And that’s what it’s doing that’s why the remarks of Alloy Boy and Melira Will always be important having Alloy Boy say “I’m just a sidekick” and Melira saying “And I’m a villain” Meaning neither are main characters meaning that by using false illusion for other worlds can create there downfall. Even the sun is corrupted and the first thing in day and night is Day. Meaning if this is correct Pibby is going to be the one to stop the corruption!

Yeah, I kinda agree…if they pull the meta internet humor plot as the main twist. It would go over like the twist in DRV3: An interesting twist in the finale, but easily the most divisive. It wouldn’t be good…bad…just controversially divisive.
I FOR ONE ADORE that game’s ending 😂 DRV3 gets missed by a lot of people, but I firmly think that game’s ending is trying to promote how important fictional media is to people, and in no way trying to diss fans or the franchise itself (I made a whole tik tok video about this lol.) I could totally see Pibby having that sort of message, and I hope it does! How the owners of these companies often enforce more and more control onto the shows that are successful, often completely bastardizing the purpose of the show as envisioned by it's creators. The infected themselves could represent the characters that ultimately get flanderized to the point that they're no where near who they used to be. As for the internet slang? I don't know whether or not that'll remain to be canon given how some details like Alloy Boy's name being 'Beta Kid' in the concept documents for example.

I have three versions of what could happen next. The first version of the betmite wins. the second version of batmite goes to the pibby training cartoon but by chance batmite touches the glitch and infects himself. the third version of betmite calms down and decides to return everything. but the glitches that appear at the end of training with pibby let us know that the glitch has not disappeared anywhere
