You said this took a year of planning would like to see the process it took to get where your at now. Great video!!! Just a big kid playing in the mud!!!
Once you got through the mud it really started to move. Your explanation of compacting with the truck was perfect. I remember when they would build dams, Fergeson made a tow behind compactor that had 4 large tires and a box to put weight in.
Big projects like this one and the lake dredging would be awesome for a time lapse video, setup a tripod that you put a camera on every morning and could even plug into another battery to keep it charged. That would make a really really cool video I think
Up here on the great state of Maine we only have gray clay. Which is what I built my pond out of last year thanks to your inspiration !! It doesn’t grade well. It doesn’t dig well. It really only does one thing incredibly well.... hold water !!! Lol
I love you way to manage to sneak in the technical construction jargon, e.g., "liquid snot." Thought you'd get that by those of us who aren't involved in excavating or hauling....but I caught it!! And as someone else has commented, Is that Uncle Fester driving the truck? Love it. Thank you, made my night seeing this and listening to your comments!!!!
This is why women think men are crazy. Going on and on about nice dirt. Seriously though I’m definitely living vicariously through these videos. Learning a lot about a job I’ll probably never do but it’s quite interesting and seems very rewarding.
Well Chris, Earthmoving is very challenging when it’s wet. Try and tolerate with it. Sometimes you may have to let it dry out a day. Anyhow keep up the good work. You can only do your best with what you have. Cheers.
It's called Ice Ages, messes up a good strata 😎 Lots of old rivers dumped tonnes of clay when water was running slow and bigger particles when is was spring. Love how you can see the changing seasons in the layers. Clay = summer and still water and sand/rocks when there is a good flow.
I've been in similar situations. Had 3 A45D hauling, I had to push them out of the cut & back in to get loaded. Did that for months, plus had to knock the loads down for a 2ft fill & compact. Needless to say ...... I was busy.
I've seen a haul truck used as a compactor before on a parking structure job next to one of the data center I work at. The land was old wetlands. The data center was on 50 foot pilings(well, the new side that wasn't sinking was). They dug a gigantic hole the footprint of the parking structure, something like 4 stories deep, got rid of that soil and put in layers and layers of different sized rock. Using just the haul truck and the dozer to pack the layers down.
Have you tried lower pressure in the standard tires, Chris? Better floating action in mud or sand and also rinses treads more efficiently. That's my experience with Volvo CE both for hauling and army duty in Sweden. [Chains is only better in snow.]
I was put in a new 740B and a new A40 a few years ago, the ruts from running 9 trucks was so bad that you'd get stuck every other trip, I can vouch for Volvo over cat when it comes to going lol
What's needed here is a track haul truck as big or even bigger than the one you have. Are they available for rental? Might be the way to go considering all the time wasted pushing. Good luck at any rate. Thanks for the video.
If they make a set to fit would Right Tracks be worth putting on the truck for these big muddy messes? I don't know much about it but it seems an articulating "half-track" would do better in mud. And no,I'm not affiliated with anybody, not even myself! :D
Chris, for the amount of ponds you dig. A morooka track dumper might be a consideration for rent or purchase. Granted the capacity isn't high, but getting stuck might be reduced. Or are there over the tire track kits available for the Volvo off-road dump truck?
Tim . 'The last bucket full' . I know you mean things found in the ground , but couldn't resist putting my quip as it's then time to load up an send the bill .
I remember about 15 years ago I was working for a company doing a mining reclamation. I was driving the rock truck and we were in worse mud than that. The front of my truck broke through the base and sank, I couldnt even open the door on the truck the mud was so high. Took 2 excavators to get me out.
I like the way you just reach out and have your way with the dump truck.............. Does your swing motor have a braking mechanism? It sure makes a whine.
The old machines back in the 80's and before had a foot back for the swinggear. Newer machines all have automatic swingbreak in the hydraulic. It's mutch safer and easyer to handle.
did you ever try to put chains on those truck tires because once the treads are filled with mud, it's over, but the chains might give you some grip still.
The bucket on the Volvo; how many cubic yards of dirt does it hold roughly? Your skill with the Volvo is smooth and very fluid. Reminds me of when I ran a fork lift.
just watch Danish Construction Channel a Volvo A40 against A30 The A30 won hands down as it had 1m wide Tractor Tyres so did not sink unlike A40 that sunk everytime hit the soil A30 tyres like Monster Truck Tyres
Do you think you boys will upsize the dozer when it comes time to replace? I feel like with the amount of pushing you boys do a larger one would be nice, albeit less nimble
It doesn't matter which part of the world you encounter that orange clay, it sticks like poop to a blanket .Even walking across it when wet,you end up with huge globs stuck to your boots. Would the white clay be Kaolin? pretty valuable if it is.
I think our 5 feet of snow is preferable to your 12 inches of clay mud to work in, if you have a good cab heater. I am just pleased as punch to be out in the country far enough there is NO cell service, one-legged or otherwise.
just what to run something in your mind you see how the back of that truck. now look at the back of the road truck and ask your self why the dirt gets stuck mite something to do with 45 degrees
Question. With all that bumping and jarring around the excavator does to your body, do you ever get a sore back, neck or legs? Thanks for the fast motion portion of the video. It's all enjoyable.
An 80,000 pound semi only puts 350 pounds per square inch on the contact patch of the tire. So your big Floatation tire with the load is probably about the same as a semi.
More time lapse! That last bit was pretty awesome
I really liked the time lapse. You can get a feel for how much is getting done over a shorter time. keep up the work.
Water sure made a mess you still were getting it done nice job 👍👍
You should do more timelapses like the one at the end
Ring! Ring!
Chris: Hello?
Logger Wade: Is your Volvo running?
Chris: Yep
Logger Wade: Well then you’d better go catch it!
As others have mentioned, yes... the time lapse at the end was cool.
You said this took a year of planning would like to see the process it took to get where your at now. Great video!!! Just a big kid playing in the mud!!!
Pretty neat to see how easily the 250 manhandles the loaded haul truck around like it was a child's toy when it was stuck in the stump hole.
Once you got through the mud it really started to move. Your explanation of compacting with the truck was perfect. I remember when they would build dams, Fergeson made a tow behind compactor that had 4 large tires and a box to put weight in.
Leave it to Wade to wreck a video! 🤣 I’d say the haul truck with compact the dam just fine! Really cool project!
I really like these longer format videos.
Big projects like this one and the lake dredging would be awesome for a time lapse video, setup a tripod that you put a camera on every morning and could even plug into another battery to keep it charged. That would make a really really cool video I think
Love the time-lapse outside of the cab! More of that Please.
Up here on the great state of Maine we only have gray clay. Which is what I built my pond out of last year thanks to your inspiration !! It doesn’t grade well. It doesn’t dig well. It really only does one thing incredibly well.... hold water !!! Lol
Good ole maine Bog dirt!! Where you at. We have camo in cherryfield. And friends in east corinth and buddy camp in dover fox
Todd Reynolds were in Augusta. Have a camp in Embden where we are now. Have friends w a camp in Wesley which is pretty close to cherry field
I like the time lapse. Maybe we could see more of those in the future
Oh Logger wade..... the company you keep sir. Lol to funny
You should have a Doctorate on the removal of MUD!!!!! Great Video

At least u get to work this time of year I’ve been shut down for about 3 weeks now it’s driving me crazy so I just watch somebody else dig.
Where are you from Nick?
John M. Evangelis Central Iowa where we had -60 windchill the other night.
Coggon Iowa here Nick. I haven't been able to dig on my pond project since December 1st, and will most likely be mid march before I can start back up
Greg Bickal Yeah I’m in Brooklyn, Ia right off interstate 80 small world.
Love the time laps!!!
Well Chris, Earthmoving is very challenging when it’s wet. Try and tolerate with it. Sometimes you may have to let it dry out a day. Anyhow keep up the good work. You can only do your best with what you have. Cheers.
Man that clay sure sticks to those tires. Great vid Chris. Thanks

Lgp Tyres wanted I think 👍great video tinted windows 👌👌
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO CHRIS 😊
Nice job Chris I know those big jobs seem like they never end specially in the mud
Loaded truck is GREAT compaction!
Can't wait to see the "secret project ". My guess is a 6 wheeled haul truck to get logs to a suitable landing
I like the fact you have an ami bucket manufactured 10 minutes from my house
Y'all did alright for the conditions👍
Yep, more time lapse. Good job!
I've been in similar situations. Had 3 A45D hauling, I had to push them out of the cut & back in to get loaded. Did that for months, plus had to knock the loads down for a 2ft fill & compact. Needless to say ...... I was busy.

Been there and done it aswell. Can't be very hard day for back dump and loader man. Good video
You make it look easy running that equipment, I know it’s not that easy!
Looking good Chris keep up the good work
Hey Chris if wade doesn’t have tims number you guys should prank call him on a video and mess with him!! Lol
Absolutely!
Another great video, hi from the uk
Like the time lapse at the end.
Have you tried lower pressure in the standard tires, Chris? Better floating action in mud or sand and also rinses treads more efficiently. That's my experience with Volvo CE both for hauling and army duty in Sweden. [Chains is only better in snow.]
yeah they are at like 50%
@@letsdig18 Thank you for your answer, Chris. Then it must be a very bad type of mud. Hard and slippery as ceramic clay. Good luck! :)
I was put in a new 740B and a new A40 a few years ago, the ruts from running 9 trucks was so bad that you'd get stuck every other trip, I can vouch for Volvo over cat when it comes to going lol
Lets haul dirt, very nice speeding up the video at the end Chris......

time lapse at end was very nice.
Man, all that ground water seeping in there, that'd be a great place to put a pond...🤣
If they make a set to fit would Right Tracks be worth putting on the truck for these big muddy messes? I don't know much about it but it seems an articulating "half-track" would do better in mud. And no,I'm not affiliated with anybody, not even myself! :D

Them Tires & Wheels that Wade has would be good on that off road dump truck.
Not to ripoff Andrew Camarata but please do more time lapse! It’s really cool to see.
Whats the best thing you have found when diggin ?
Tim . 'The last bucket full' . I know you mean things found in the ground , but couldn't resist putting my quip as it's then time to load up an send the bill .
Logger Wade is probably keeping nice and warm in the sawmill, with time on his hands! lol
Is that uncle Fester driving the Volvo?
That's great job
I remember about 15 years ago I was working for a company doing a mining reclamation. I was driving the rock truck and we were in worse mud than that. That 250 is a beast
Strait clay is good do dig and build with but hell if it rains
Need tracks on that haul truck Like the ones on that goes on skid steer's.
did you ever try to put chains on those truck tires because once the treads are filled with mud, it's over, but the chains might give you some grip still.
hi from the uk chris that 250e machine is like an extension of your arms it moves so smooth
anyway how is the skid steer
Is the cutoff wall wide enough for the dump? Didn't seem like it from the last video. Just wondering how the clay gets packed in there.
Job's like this I wonder why you brake out the Tracked haul truck .
Oh that glorious mud LOL
Have yall thought of running cbs in yalls machines? Especially when hauling dirt like here in this video...
The bucket on the Volvo; how many cubic yards of dirt does it hold roughly? Your skill with the Volvo is smooth and very fluid. Reminds me of when I ran a fork lift.
Your bucket count was correct ! 8 buckets to load the truck !
chris you should get some -shirts made up that say "mud, mud, muddy, mud mud" lol
Do u think that 6 wheeled log hauler with the hydro loading boom that Wade built is gonna look pretty cool, like the ones they use up north
just watch Danish Construction Channel a Volvo A40 against A30 The A30 won hands down as it had 1m wide Tractor Tyres so did not sink unlike A40 that sunk everytime hit the soil A30 tyres like Monster Truck Tyres
Do you think you boys will upsize the dozer when it comes time to replace? I feel like with the amount of pushing you boys do a larger one would be nice, albeit less nimble
How deep is that pond gonna be when you're done? Looks huge
the cab view is so differnt from the outside view ......Damn you moved a lot of DIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Logger Wade sounds like Kenny Wallace. They both have the same personalities...lol
More drone of this project please :D
It doesn't matter which part of the world you encounter that orange clay, it sticks like poop to a blanket .Even walking across it when wet,you end up with huge globs stuck to your boots. Would the white clay be Kaolin? pretty valuable if it is.
what a mess with all that mud

Can’t wait to see what this top secret project is with @loggerwade
Thanks like the video on the mud truck.
Get the dirt in the truck Chris the dirt goes in the truck
Is there a haul truck with tracks?
Yup they make them
Phone call was the best
Must have been Justin driving the haul truck.
Nice!!!
I think the mud helped make this into a great video.
That 250 drags that haul truck around like its nothing.
shes a beast!
just what to run something in your mind you see how the back of that truck. now look at the back of the road truck and ask your self why the dirt gets stuck mite something to do with 45 degrees
Looks to me that you graduated from “excavation specialist” and moved up to “Mudologist”. 😆
Thanks for the video
Question. With all that bumping and jarring around the excavator does to your body, do you ever get a sore back, neck or legs?
Thanks for the fast motion portion of the video. It's all enjoyable.
You know logger wade has 6 brand new tires with some grip on them, he should be at home by now just swing on by and load them up and put them to use
who did you have driving the truck?
Dirt looks like what I call caliche.
How long has it been since we had a dry day in North Carolina, I say six months
September was the last month i saw dust
An 80,000 pound semi only puts 350 pounds per square inch on the contact patch of the tire. So your big Floatation tire with the load is probably about the same as a semi.
That's A lot Of Dam Dirt
Chris needs a Mooroka crawler dumper for this project
Was thinking the very same 👍
Or definitely a mini haul truck for those small jobs. But hey it's easy to spend someone's else's money
Daniel Eismann mooka has a very low cube!
He had a tracked dump truck 4 year's ago
You were right..8 scoops!
That white clay looks almost like bentonite clay.
Hey Chris, I going to get you a T-shirt that has your logo, and "Mud, Mud, Mud!!" on the back. You have patience my friend.
