  • The city of Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded in the first century AD as the Roman colony of Lugdunum, and has had several distinct periods of history. Great job! Great video with Lyon highlights (which we will "discover" next weekend)! Focused, with added value information, good editing. It could be better if you add titles to the places you share.

I didn't know much about Lyon, but the city was on my list forever. After watching your video I want to go there as soon as I can :)

Great to see, we've never really been. We just stopped once on the outskirts when we were driving to Italy. Wished we went into the town now.

It's a really interesting city with some great history and culture - just wish we could've stayed longer than two nights!

Those hidden passageways must have come in handy! I studied near Lyon years ago but only made it into the city once, it was beautiful though and I loved the cathedral!

Yeah it's a great city, we really enjoyed it. Funny story with those hidden passageways - it took us about 10 takes to film that clip where I talk about their history, because people kept opening the door from the other side 😂

I've made it a mission to visit as many UNESCO sites as I can. I would love to tick this off that list someday!

Hi Joel. I hope you ate well in Lyon too. (We assume you did.) The cuisine of Lyon is a world heritage site in itself. We spent a month in Lyon and it's such a great town. Next time we go, we'll definitely explore the hidden passages a little more.

We did actually, the day we filmed most of the video we did lunch at a little restaurant tucked away on a side-street in the old town - one of those 3-course set menu lunches the French are so fond of. From memory I had a bacon salad with poached egg, followed by a blue steak and mash! Though I think at least one of our other two meals was kebab ;)

holy 11,000 people even back then? Crazy. I would love to visit Lyon one day. It's been on my list for awhile now!

Standing room only 😉 But almost everyone in town would attend the performances; as much a social occasion as a cultural one I think!

I have never been and didn't know much about the city until now. It really does look a lot like Rome, doesn't it? Also, that pedestrian square is massive! You're right - I would assume it's the largest one by looking at it!

It's absolutely colossal! And I had to walk the length of it four times looking for a bathroom 😂😂😂

Found this really interesting - you've put those different historical aspects together so well and in only a few minutes. Interesting repurposing of those alleyways, and I can't believe that the theatre built by the Romans can still be used. Look at some of our modern day construction efforts!

Thanks! Funnily enough I actually found this one quite easy to film and edit - the phases of the city's development are just so clear that all you need to do is present a few details in the logical order :)

Ahh man another Lyon video. I’m been trying to decide between heading back to France or visiting Ireland. I was leaning towards Ireland but you put France back in my debate. Arghhh lol

Endless cities and towns to choose from in France - Paris is great but there's so much more to see, and so varied as well. Southern France is very different to say Normandy. But Ireland is great too, sorry I'm no help 😂

The Roman ruins were the site of horrible Christian torture and persecution. They fed them to animals and burned them in iron chairs. Let's not forget these poor ancestors of France. (See St Blodina)
