I read this book last month and I DID NOT see that ending coming! It was different from anything else I've read that has that "twist" ending. I thought it was good!
I liked how hyped the twist was because it really kept me guessing through the whole book. I was trying to think of the craziest ending but still didn't get it. I really enjoyed the book!
**this is a spoiler-y comment just warning... i really enjoyed this one up until the ending, i kept being told that the ending would blow me away and i was kind of underwhelmed by it to be honest. i didn't mind the last chapter, to me it was the epilogue that i wish was done differently, i was annoyed that adele wasnt really adele all along because i actually was quite intrigued by her character and i think i was looking for a more logical reason behind her behaviour
*SPOILER* This was one of those books that I started off loving, but by the end, I absolutely hated it and felt completely cheated. Look, this was marketed to me as an intense thriller with an ending so unpredictable that my panties would be rendered shitstained by the end of it. Uhhh, NO. When you have a paranormal/supernatural element -- you can literally do ANYTHING. The ending didn't feel like unpredictable genius, it felt like a last-minute bullshit ass-pull. My score went from a 9 to a 4/10. I never want to read a book like it again. -_-
Finally read this. 😂 I loved it and the ending. I’m not sure why people were surprised the ending is very supernatural. 🤷♀️ the book is very clear about what it is pretty early on and the ending comes out of all these clues. Could have done without the last chapter as I thought it was a bit too far but definitely didn’t expect it.
**Spoilery comment** I really disliked this book lol. I think if I had known it had paranormal aspects in it I would have appreciated it more but because the whole deal with this book is "You won't guess the ending" I was expecting for the paranormal part to be explained with something "logical" that I didn't expect, so the ending really upset me because I didn't get what I wanted out of the book. But I'm glad to see other people enjoy it. :)
***SPOILERS**** Yea, the paranormal aspects were what I was referencing to when I said I could see some people not liking the ending haha. For me, I didn't feel misled because if I knew there were paranormal aspects going in, it would have been less of a surprise. I also think having read so many psych thrillers, it was refreshing to see something different. But I totally get where you're coming from! ****SPOILERS***
I ADORED this book! It was SO unpredictable and addictive!!! I had SO many theories with this book and not one of them were right haha! You could NEVER imagine how this book turns out! Oh no, The Couple Next Door is on my TBR. Not great to know they didn't handle mental illness well.
I just finished this one last week. I really liked this one and the ending shocked me, I had to reread it like wait, what?! Lol. I enjoyed though and agree that the ending really did make the book.
It's ridiculous how much I was looking forward to this review!😛 I haven't been able to hear other people's thoughts on this book as often as I would like! I read this book in about a day because I just needed to know how it ended!! Sarah Pinborough wrote 3 retellings of classic fairy tales but I've heard they're awful. I keep almost buying them and then changing my mind...
totally loved the ending on my end but my booktube partner did not at all LOL. i thought it was a spectacular plot twist at the end but my booktube partner thought that the author did a "cop out". IDK. i was definitely kept on my toes throughout the entire book and thoroughly enjoyed it! great review!
Hi! Thanks for this. I just started the book today and was ready to DNF it till I heard your review. I find the writing is disjointed and doesn't flow. The characters are whiny and not likeable. But I'm always intrigued by an ending that's totally unpredictable. I don' t think saying there's a twist is a spoiler--it's a given with a thriller trope. Thanks again.
You should totally ready “cellar” by Natasha Preston! Omg it’s so amazing, it has a bit of more sensitive topics such as r*pe but it was still such a good book. You’d really like it if you like psychological thrillers
Have you read any books by Carlene Thompson? My favorite of hers is IN THE EVENT OF MY DEATH but another good one is BLACK FOR REMEMBRANCE. Highly recommended
I really disliked the ending. I felt like it was a twist that came out of nowhere. I just wanted a regular psychological thriller without a paranormal hint. Also didn't like the ultimate twist that was a result of the original twist. It didn't feel necessary. So hard to talk about without spoiling everything.
*****SPOILERS**** Yea, when I said I could see some people not liking the ending, it was because of the paranormal aspect. I liked it because it was so unexpected from normal psych thrillers, but I completely understand not liking it. ****SPOILERS*******
*spoiler* I didnt like the ending. Never expected to be anything paranormal and the paranormal aspect of the ending without ever trying to show paranormal aspects before in the book ruined the ending. It was unexpected yes, but I felt it was a cop out move to just put paranormal twist into a nonparanormal book.
I’ve just finished this book, omg I loved it all the way through.the ending was not what I was expecting I actually mouthed f**k at one point lol.absolutely loved it
Yes I'm adding this book to my tbr list, btw I just finished this mystery thriller book called "everything you want me to be" it was really good I loved it, you should check it out
Help! I don't know if I'm gonna get Behind Her Eyes but I saw some reviews that I think might have spoiled the ending for me. Some review said it's supernatural so it makes me think that the ending may mean that someone's a ghost? Please don't spoil the ending but can someone confirm if I'm right? (If I'm wrong then I'm gonna get the book.)
You're one of my favorite Booktubers, I always enjoy your videos so much! I'm also a horror and psychological thriller fan, so that helps! ;-) I'm Antonia (BooksandKnowledge) on Goodreads, if you want to have a look at the books I read. Keep up the awesome work!
Spoiler contained. I gave this book a -1 star on goodreads. I almost got the ending correct, at least for the A as L part. For the R as A part, it is also not that surprising. It is kind of unfair and also offensive to put supernatural-related elements into a psychological thriller, especially when the main strategy/design is largely the same as the one used in the movie "the skeleton key (by Kate Hudson)". If this is classified as a SCI-FI book, I would feel better and maybe give it 2 stars. Thanks for the review anyway.
I've been hearing great things about The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson! Thanks for this review; will reserve from library next! Also totally agree on The Couple Next Door-- dumb character decisions and terrible mental health aside !
I was dying to hear your review of this book. I was about half way through it myself when you said you were going to review it. :) I am surprised you liked this ending. I thought you'd shred this book to pieces for it LOL Personally, I hated it. I felt it didn't fit the whole book and the story. It didn't belong there. I get that the ending you never see coming is great, but at the same time, it has to fit. And this one didn't.
Astral projection is like hypnosis, not everyone can do it. Plus, instead of just thinking they switched souls, if u think it how the book is trying to tell us that someone else's is looking from those eyes behind ur loved one is what is very scary about this book.
A psychological thriller with a good ending? I'm definitely reading this now!
No good ending
The ending will only be good for you, if you can fully emerge yourself in the paranormal
I read this book last month and I DID NOT see that ending coming! It was different from anything else I've read that has that "twist" ending. I thought it was good!
There were various points where I thought I could tell what was happening and I was SHOCKED at the ending
Same! :D
I liked how hyped the twist was because it really kept me guessing through the whole book. I was trying to think of the craziest ending but still didn't get it. I really enjoyed the book!
Me: I will not add any more books to my tbr list.
Katie: I just finished this book!
Me: **puts it on top of my list**
Lili Cuevas same
hahaha well there's always the library ;D

Jun Kazama i totally agree!!! Absolutely HATED the ending
I love the way you speak
Finally read this. 😂

And this is why I love you. You just get me and my need for more and more psychological thrillers.
Just finished this one, as an audio book. And holy crap! The ending! I liked it!
I also just finished it! I loved it!!!
Update? Did you watch Netflix version? How did you feel about it?
**Spoilery comment**

Nikix I felt exactly the same way. I was very disappointed. I felt like I had been mislead.

Nikix I HATTTTTED THIS ENDING HOLY SHIT

I agree I love how they handled mental illnesses and I loved all the characters and the fact that they all kept you guessing. Love your thoughts

Have you watched the Netflix series? If you have, has it live up to the book in your opinion ?
I just discovered your channel and had to binge watch some of your videos. I love how you do reviews and explain the books you like. :)
Have you read any books by Carlene Thompson? My favorite of hers is IN THE EVENT OF MY DEATH but another good one is BLACK FOR REMEMBRANCE. Highly recommended
Nope, but thanks for the rec!
I just finished it this morning! Loved it! 5 stars

I really enjoyed that book! Currently reading another book of the month pick, Dead Letters, and would love a review on that one! 💙

I always love your reviews because your so comprehensive with your thoughts and descriptions! Another great one. :)
I will not go read all of the other comments of the HBO unboxing, cause I know I will feel like a big ol' dummy. heh.

It wasn't scary says the woman with framed horror pictures.
Nice video, great recommendation, are writing something lately?
I just started the book and it is a slow 🐌 build up. I'm only reading so I can find out about the unpredictable ending.
I've been hearing great things about The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson!
