The greatest what if story in wrestling is what would have happened if David had won the NWA belt in 1984 from Flair as was the plan. The first reign might have lasted a few months with David defending against the likes of Windham, Dusty and all the top contenders outside of Texas. In Texas he would probably have had great matches against Gino, who would have been much like what Tully was to Flair in 1984. Unfortunately, we will never know because of David's untimely passing.

I always wondered how he ben in wwe. I bet Vince McMahon would pakage him like rick Martel. Some kind model or millionaire type of heel.

Its been said that Fritz took a liking to a young Mark Calloway, because he resembled his late son David, looking here at young David he looks like a young Mark Calloway.

Yeah, while it may be scripted, they are still slamming each other, and a lot of times they are REALLY hitting each other.
Regardless of being scripted, I daresay MOST of us would NOT do too well in a streetfight against any of these Wrestlers!

@@texasrockshillcountry6574 This was a time when wrestling "got real" a lot of the time, in the ring, where real personal feelings amongst the men, were brought into the ring, and that's where the matches were wrestled a bit more stiff with holds, and hits....Because it was a time, where MEN were still ALLOWED to be MEN.... it's what the pansys would refer to "politically incorrect" in society today....Wrestling back then was more, barbaric.....it's also why it was actually enjoyable to watch, today's product is literally, not worth watching....give me 70s to mid 80s wrestling any day, it was the best....

This territory had lot to do with world class championship wrestling. All wrestlers eventually came to Dallas. Even referees worked here and world class.

It’s a shame David and Gino couldn’t wrestle in Dallas in 1984 especially with David having the NWA title. Both wrestlers would’ve been more seasoned.

In Texas the state was an NWA affiliate and the Promoters had talent sharing agreements prior to Jack Atkinson AKA Fritz Von Erich
The talent sharing agreement went back to the days of Morris Seigal (Houston) & Dallas promoter Ed McLemore
