I used to put this on when babysitting my nephews, They were glued to it. As far as the 3+ hour thing goes the commentary track alone is going to double the running time. Add in the trailers, PC stuff...seems about right.
The cover art really sold this DVD back in the day, but like you I was expecting a documentary and found it kind of disappointing too. The documentary you were looking for is "Boogeymen 2: Masters Of Horror." That's one of my favorite horror documentaries, and nobody ever talks about it. It has that same vintage 2000s feel, horror clips interspersed with interviews from horror veterans, and hosted by Bruce Campbell. Pure nostalgia.

I was 26 when this was released. I enjoy the nostalgia. As far as documentaries go, I really enjoy Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film (2006) as well. 🔪

I would imagine that the Over 3 Hours of Content includes the run time of the DVD times 3. The "movie" runs for about an hour, then you watch with the commentary (another hour or so) and then you watch with the pop up trivia (another hour or so). add that to the rest of the features and BOOM over three hours of content. Great video and a definite blast from the past.

I bought this when it was a brand new DVD release in 2001....now we have youtube and similar sites to check movie scenes and clips quickly...but I remember back in 2001 before youtube this DVD was really cool....if I remember correctly they even ran commercials for this on TV back in 2001 ~

I love this dvd as I think it’s hilarious that the Jason they use on the cover is from Part 3, but they use JGTH in the compilation. I still enjoy it though. It’s just a fun dvd and I love when Robert Englund does the commentary. Ty again for the review man and keep up the awesome content Christian.
Got this for about 5 bucks back in 2004 or so, still have it and I watched it alot it was well put together and fun to just watch the clips if I didn't feel like putting on any of the full films, tempted to go back and listen to Robert commentary track again, I remember that being a fun listen. Also seeing nobody has mentioned it there is an Easter egg hidden on one of the screens that links to the hidden bonus clip of Jack Frost from Jack Frost 2 haha
The dvd has a Robert Englund commentary which is really worth the purchase of the movie. There is also an easter egg on the DVD to see a clip from Jack Frost I believe. There was going to be a follow up DVD called Ultimate Fights I think but I don't think it was ever released. I assume it would have covered action flicks.
Here’s interesting fact, there’s a documentary called Masters of Horror that was also known as Boogymen Vol. 2 that came out on Showtime and it featured interviews with horror actors and directors like Wes Craven, John Carpenter etc.
I remember this being a huge let down lol, but it’s fun seeing you revisit it & talking about it though for nostalgic reasons. I remember there being an action dvd they put out also that was the same thing but w action clips of action stars that I had also

Bought this compilation in a combo pack with the original Nightmare on Elm in the cardboard case when I was like 4. I begggggeeed my mom for it and the cashier looked at her so crosseyed when I tossed it onto the belt lmao. I rewatched that thing every day. Camilla from The Guardian always stuck out to me as a kid and I didn’t watch the movie until a few years ago.

I remember renting that movie as a kid & being so disappointed after watching it. I ended up finding it at a Thrift Store a couple years ago & as an adult now i can expect it for what it is a cool shelf peace. By the way I watched it with my son the 2nd time around & he was as disappointed as I was when i first watched it but mabe 20 years from now we can re watch it together again while having a couple beers & I'll let him have it for his shelf as a display.
One day I plan on buying this dvd, but something I think that’d be cool for someone to do would be to upgrade the dvd by taking the most recent 4Ks/blu rays of the films that got a 4K or blu ray and remake the compilation. Sure it’d be a lot of work, and probably illegal, but I just think it’d be cool. Especially since it’d be able to keep it up to date to be shown to future people who are interested in horror and make it to where it looks more polished
