- Yes, he was the last man on Earth. But-was he still a man?
Published February 1956 ~ Infinity Science Fiction
Narrated by Ben Tucker
This audiobook has been carefully edited and enhanced to the highest standard. Enjoy this post-apocalyptic tale of survival by legendary SF author Harlan Ellison (author of the fiction works behind The Terminator)
Does anyone know the name of a sci-fi story about a robot who's job is to reload weapons and send them to destroy the enemy, but everyone has been dead for centuries. The robot just keeps going on. I read this story decades ago, but can't remember the name or the author.
Very frustrating.
I looked also, and found several to put on my reading list, but not your story. Please let us know if you find it!
@@davidcovington901 It might be a futile endeavor, but I'll keep trying.
Thanks. 👍
I've pinned this comment - hopefully someone knows it!
You're not thinking of The Gun by PKD, are you?
@@johnharvey5412 I just heard the story you recommended. While it had a lot of similarities, unfortunately, it's not the one I remember. I thank you very much for your time and endeavor. I enjoyed the story. No such thing as a bad Philip K. Dick story. Thank you once again. 👍
New thinkable uploading ? What have we done to deserve such a honour!! 😂 but in all seriousness, all these stories you have collected and archived helped me through a really tough couple of years of mental health issues a while back.
I also now have a hobby of trawling through independent bookstores and charity shops to find physical copies of these books! I now have quite the small library of them!
Thanks for these. All the best to everyone. Have fun. Every day.
Will do, you too my man
Murray Leinster and now a story by my favourite writer! This is a good comeback, thus far.
I knew I'd read this possibly 50 years ago when I heard the name, Seligman! The plot was gone from memory, but details would pop out at times: oh yeah! 'that' image', 'that! bleak scenario!' Great reading of this old classic. Thank you!
Good to see you back after four years. Thanks!
Thank you
You're welcome!
Thank you... The best!
Holy crap! New thinkable is back! My day is made! Also “the goggles! They do nothing!”
Fallout fans take note this is a clear inspiration for the Glowing Ones as well as a major side quest in New Vegas. Fallout was “stealing” from Ellison from the beginning (esp boy and his dog).
Despite writing a video game (on a typewriter!) Ellison didn’t think much of that medium which is good in a way because he might have sued like he did with James Cameron and Terminator.
To be clear tho, great reading great author thanks for posting!
New posts! 😮
Hell Yeah!
Gloomy to the max.
i love a happy ending.
Does anyone remember the name of a short story about a man who travels through a portal to a warm sea and there meets a "man" much like himself but the "man" he notices, has six fingers?
