I just heard.. sonos play 5... woburn 3 and authentics 500... even tho sonos is old... i think its still one of the best especially considering sound ... and the price as well.. whats your take on it
This JBL Authentics 500 looks very minimalist and exclusive look but the JBL Authentics 500 in my country Malaysia cost MYR 3699 which is the same price of the JBL Partybox 710.one of the expensive JBL speaker in my country Malaysia 🇲🇾 anyway nice review and support from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia 🇲🇾
Would suggest go for Sonos in Malaysia. Please try out the speakers yourself, JBL is quite poor in quality actually.
Nice video Which one do you recommend, Sonos five or JBL 500? I'm looking for fidelity and powerful bass but that doesn't saturate the other frequencies.
@@victorhugochavezalvarado1897 I would personally take the JBL. The bass is stronger and it goes much louder. Although the Sonos has clearer sound
What is the reason for not buying this instead of the 300 excluding price and volume?
@@richmck007 it’s not got a battery, so has to be mains powered the whole time.

I assume you mean between this and the Sonos five? In that case I would definitely choose the JBL, as I prefer the soundstage and bass. But the Sonos has slightly higher sound quality and deals with higher notes better
No I means between Jbl 500 and citation 500 if you increase the bass on citation which has better listen all day I seen other videos say citation has deeper bass better sound stage thanks for replying 🥛
@@avtardhillon5030 oh okay, you never specified 😁 in that case it’s a little different, as they are very similar. I think the JBL still wins in the bass department, but the citation had a nicer design and a wider soundstage. Depends how much you want deep bass I guess
Do you need to activate the wifi on the speaker before you can download the JBL App?
I tried to set up my 300 but it would not let me install the App as I had not set up the wifi, only the bluetooth.
@@richmck007 I don’t think you can setup the WiFi without the app so it’s a bit of a catch 22 isn’t it? 😆

Does the JBL Authentics 500 support Tidal Connect natively for HiFi, or do you have to go through the JBL One app?
I don’t personally use Tidal so it wasn’t something I tested unfortunately. But I imagine it would be natively supported
Which one do you like better? JBL authen 500 vs Harman Citation 500
I prefer the build of the Citation. And I like the screen on top. But the sound quality, volume and bass of the JBL is better

First u plug in the ethernet cable in the speaker than connected through wifi to ur smartphone? But can my phone be connected to wifi network and to jbl speaker through wifi at the same time?
It can yes. It functions the same as all other WiFi speakers, very efficient
Heard the authentic in a store the other day, the thing SLAPS. But I still love the cleanliness of the Sonos 5, which leads me to my make or break question…
I’m not sure if I missed it, but I’m looking for the Sonos feature where there’s an Aux input (for a turntable in this example) where it can rebroadcast over other airplay or castable speakers?
The Sonos 5 can do it, but is that a bonus with the Sonos ecosystem that other protocols aren’t up to?

Unfortunately I haven’t tried the beolit 20 yet. But I think this is a great home speaker. It outperforms its rivals for sure

How does this one compare to the naim muso qb 2 you reviewed earlier?
It’s definitely louder with stronger bass as well. But the build quality is worse and the sound does not sound as “full”.
Does it have better bass then citation 500 ?
For sure, that downward firing subwoofer makes a big difference on this
