Hello, I have a e91 bmw estate the car sat for a year with being rarly started due to being in hospital....
The car started with a coolant leak I used coolant sealant and a month late the car goes into limp mode and its been a problem since I machanic computer read its a vvt problem. My question is, is it likely to be the motor or a sensor and how much should I be paying for the repair??

Hi my 2005 BMW 1SERIES has a problem when I start the car when cold and Rev the the motor over 2000rpm it drops and cuts out and it's difficult to restart but if if let it ideal a bit I can then Rev it over 2000rpm it fine? What could be the problem as many people or macanics don't know?

I have a 2011 328I Sedan I bought run and drive from Auction. After starting the car, I ran perfect and as my brother and I left the lot, I kept hearing a high squeal and then the car started running and idling very rough as if it was going to shut off. I coded the car and Po52B, P164C. P1625, P1224 were all in the diagnostic. What I've done so far took it to a shop and they said I needed the Vanos solenoids. I replaced both Solenoids, both camshaft sensor , new NGK OEM plugs and coils also per misfire codes in diagnostic and I am currently waiting on the Valvetronic motor. The car at idle rocks so hard I feel like it's getting ready to quit BUT, anything above 1000 rpm's the car is in it's natural element... A Ultimate Driving Machine... Need help with this one... only 78K miles!

Where is the “installation” part of the video ...? Saying installation is “reverse of removal” doesn’t help at all since it is UNDER TENSION.

Thank you for this video. I was able to change my light on my own. I did have to ask my son to pull that cord out. It was tuff for me. Other than that, I did it on my own and I enjoyed it. I'm a 45 to women and I love trying to fix things. Mow I have to watch a video on break light.
Two things I noticed on the video, is the E8 bolt you were struggling with on the bottom was put in the wrong way. Dont put the bolt back in like that. Also you didnt remove the 4mm Allen bolt on the rear of valve tronic motor. This bolt is used to put the motor into service mode manually so you can remove the motor from the car with out damaging anything.
I was thinking the same thing.That had to suck getting it out the reverse way, I could barely get that bolt out the original way.
Will I be able to replace using this method on my BMW 328i f30 n20 engine as well? And where is that 4mm allen? And what about releasing the tension?
U guys are confusing me i have a motor in front of me as we speak off the car and theres no fuckin hex or anything but a plug on the rear of it
On cars with magnesium cam covers the lower bolt is in the orientation shown in the video.
I thought the motor had tension and needed to be manually turned to release the tension? otherwise it snaps "CLACK" as you remove it

You are correct, this guy is bull shitting don’t know what he is doing. To remove it you have to turn the hex screw back of actuator counter clock wise to release tension if you don’t do it it will damage the unit
Funny cos there's no hex nut on the back of the actuator/motor ive gt one sat in front of me as we speak

My mechanic changed the servo motor twice as I got the 28B4 and 2863 codes on my 2010 BMW 320i E90. This code just appeared again and I'm highly doubtful the servo motor has failed again. Would you know what could be causing this? Please help :-(

What happens if you take the valve tonic motor out without turning the battery off ?

Whoever installed the E8 that holds the motor on the bottom side did it the wrong way it should be from outside facing the engine not from the engine facing out. installed it well for the future work.

This valvetronic motor replacement is easy, good design, my E90 06 model has screw on inside, and need to remove that cover gasket lol

Sebastian Roca it’s very hard to diagnose it without the proper scanner, mine had the yellow engine icon on and it disappeared once I shut off the car. Code will be A038 I think 🤔
Hey man, so I just bought this 2008 e46 3 Series BMW, an icon just appeared following by a sudden loss of power and eventually motor turning off when stopping at traffic lights. The icon is a motor half shaded. Took it to the workshop and connected to de computer. It says errors 2a70, 2cf8 and 2d07. Related to the Valvetronic. I bouht a spare motor but I don't know if it will be enough. Any advice is very welcome 😊

I saw you guys didn't loosen the butt with a 4mm allen key, did this have any affect when putting it back into place ? I didn't loosen mine either and am kind of worried now when I took mine out I kind of pryed it off and I heard a pop am guessing from tension.
RitchieRich Yes, you need to use an allen key to remove the motor, and you need to do the same to install the new motor, carefully screw in the tip of the motor clock wise.
You also need to relearn the eccentric shaft min max position with a scan tool any time the motor is removed.
I actually didn't use an Allen key and I didn't do the min/max position I just put in backing place it has been running just fine.

Just hold on! This isn't right? Other videos I've checked they say you need to put the valvetronic motor in "service mode" by turning it clockwise, because it will snap, and can also damage your eccentric shaft sensor....
Soooo could you just take it out like that or not? Also, do you need to program/code it? Some says that you absolutely need to do and some says that it will learn again by it self??? :S

what about the relearn you have to do after? (my original search because I'm not sure if I have to purchase the BMW subscription with my jbox to use their software or just use my Autel/SnapOn scanner shits expensive)
Just use your Autel they can do relearns on BMW in the DME module

We have a 2010 e60 with the N52k.
When the turn signal is on, you can not hear it blinking inside the car. It as been totally silenced by the previous owner. Did they silence it with INSTA p or with NCS expert? How do we turn up the volume on the turn signal blinker so we can hear it?

How do you check or confirm that the VVT motor is faulty or isn’t working properly?
Drive the car. A failed VVT will give trigger a check engine light, as well as feel lack of power when driving.

The valvetronic is constantly in use by the engine, when you push you gas pedal it will move the intake camshaft to open the valves and accelerate the engine... in a very complex system because the engine doesn’t use the throttle body to accelerate the engine!
Can someone link the video where they test the motor? I got a code saying that there's an issue with it, but I dont know if it's the wiring or motor itself. It probably is the motor because I have around 120k miles, but I want to know if I need just the motor or the motor and harness or just the harness.
Failed to mention real ease tension as well as reinstall. And calibration.

Yes but do not remove it the way this gentleman did, u must use a scanner to retract the motor or and allen key in a specific rotation

I don't think you guys really know what you're doing, you just want to have a video channel. You spend more time advertising you're channel than getting useful information on screen. I mean - 2 seconds on installation??, the hardest part of working with the valvetronic is installation and you gloss over it. BIG THUMBS DOWN!
