Let us know how you guys feel about this teaser and Ciri as the Protagonist! We personally feel like the franchise was always going to go in this direction, based on both the books and The Witcher 3. Though it would have been cool to be able to create our own Witcher. Despite that, we feel hopeful about this one, politics, DEI, "wokenes" all of those things are a factor in these big companies, but times change, and by the time this game comes out, things will be quite different.

Gamers want games, but a lot of us also read books from which these games are based on and who's lore they are using in the first place. (even though I really dislike the author's oppinion on video games) I would agree that most gamers are Male and there is such a thing as a gender barier, (aka, it's hard to relate to a character from the oposite gender) But, we will have to see how they approach this. It can be done well or done poorly.
Man it's wild to see the how the term "woke" has stripped of all meaning to what it's original intent was. Being woke used to mean something when I was growing up, it meant we were aware of all the systemic bullshit that was going on, especially in minority nieghborhoods. Now it's used to complain about insignificant things. Women in games, characters being bi sexual or gay. Give me a break. God forbid art imitate life. Which had happened since the beginning of art itself.

Dragon age veilguard was very unfortunate, I know bioware has been through some changes but I would have never expected the writing to be so bad. That's a great example.

Anyone who has played The Witcher 3 or read the books knows that Ciri, as the protagonist, is a natural continuation of the series after Geralt. She has been a central part of this world from the beginning. By the way. It's funny that a middle-aged guy in 1990s Poland in Eastern Europe was more progressive than teenagers in the United States today.
I'd say it's a weird thing to complain the game is not lore accurate. If Netflix series is not 1:1 with the books, games should not be either. If they were, someone would complain these games are like the books. People look for a blend of fidelity to the source material and creative innovation, not exact copying. Some people also complain about the looks of Ciri. While she is not only like 15 years older than in Witcher 3 but she is now also hybrid mutant. If people wanted a ballet dancer as a monster hunter, they really should watch a Disney movies instead and let the real gamers actually enjoy the game. Even though Ciri was bi in the books, I don't really care if Witcher is he or she or they, hetero or bi or lesbian/gay because these "properties" are irrelevant. I only care if game/story is good. Like all real gamers do. The only property which matters in the story is mutant vs hybrid mutant. If Ciri was an Empress, Witcher 4 would be the most boring game ever. From gameplay perspective I'd say it's more interesting to hunt monsters than give speeches to people. That's why devs put Ciri through the mutation process to become hybrid mutant monster hunter. Gamers mostly want more power. Geralt was weak, he only knew some basic spells. By choosing to transform Ciri into hybrid mutant, we get the most powerful Witcher ever existed, and because of this, I could NOT be more excited about the game.

The Naughty Dog game is a new IP. It doesn’t matter who’s the protagonist because that’s the story. No one can debate that but the creators of that story.
Sure, for all we know it may end up being a decent game, but how about the countless god awful sponsors shown in that trailer? The Space ship is a Porshe? She wears Addidas? Her player is Sony etc, the product placement is just awful considering this is a sci fi game. As for the Protagonist, ok, let it be a woman, but why make her look like a man? Iit's one thing to pick a woman that looks this way for the story and another to check a box and nothing else, we will see how it goes. But at first glance, that game looks uninspired and it's the first time in history that so many people are simply not excited fora Naughty dog game. Is the hate a bit too much? Perhaps, we don't know enough after all. But also, does the trailer raise eyebrows? Oh yes it does. Women can and are often in media..very good protagonists, one of my favorites happens to be in Sci Fi - Ripley from Alien, however what they showed of in this character was just offputting, I disliked her look, shaved head, many features and awful attitude.. Guy on the left I think is right. After the Battle of Kaer Morhen Keira says she is leaving with Lambert because she has an idea she needs a witcher for. If you look up the Fandom she starts the Lynx school which is the necklace Ciri has on. Another mage comes up with a formula that works for for female witchers. I suspect this is the direction it will go.

Indeed, we are part slavic too, actually a lot of the music in the witcher is very similar to our national folklore music here in Bulgaria, they even sing in our language at times during the witcher soundtrack, so naturally, we fully support this take on fantasy and the witcher and love to see it!
It's sad because out there are a lot of people tagging The Witcher 4, the new NaguthyDog's IP and Ghost of Tsushima Yotei being "woke" since the first time those games got announced, even on the live chat I saw everyone spamming the word "woke" just because the main character is a woman... it's sad that people won't play those games or just hate them for "woke" moves just for a show a woman on a trailer 😢

Wokeness is good when the people behind it actually care to tell a good story with well written characters. I feel like some creators of bad "woke " projects use them being woke as a shield to say "look how progressive my creation is and therefore you should like it" even though they didn't seem to care one bit about writing an actually good story that makes sense and with meaningful, well written characters in it but that is also generally true regarding all stories. With sth woke being bad grifters use that as a weapon to paint the project being bad entirely on wokeness and that all wokness always ruins everything it's part of, which is not true. If sth woke is bad then the creators didn't care enough to make a good product and not because the product's woke, they just might use that as an excuse/shield from criticism. It's the same with "non-woke" media and pretty much everything else, when the writing is bad the product is bad, no matter what it is about. I'm sick and tired of grifters twisting it into sth that it's not. I would call making sth woke just for the sake of it without caring about a good story or product just "virtue signaling" by the creators. Cause creators that actually care about wokeness with substance often care enough to tell a story with well written characters in it.

It's not it having those elements that makes something bad, but when it's just about checking boxes, which...let's be honest, a lot of these studios do, in order to get a higher ESG score..and hence more money from investors...that's when it goes bad. Because sure, you may want diversity, but in some cases, it simply doesn't make sense, unless if you take the time to think of a reason how to do so. An example of bad diversity would be the Witcher netflix show which had random people of all types running around the cities...which simply did not make sense of the world..then again, in tv we had House of the Dragon, there we again, got people of color, but it was just one house, that came from a different place...they made it make sense, it was logical why they looked different etc...in the witcher, they just didn't bother to explain anything..so, basically, I totally agree with you, a lot of the people working on these "woke" projects are just idiots. i don't have any problem with women characters/protagonist in any movies, series, or games.. i don't have any problem with them trying to push their agenda. BUT please make it GOOD like "The Last of Us 2". Because the problem with many people who trying to push that agenda is never make something good, cringe, and out of place.
Well said. Although, having mostly female protagonists creates a gender barier between most of the players and the character they play, because most gamers are still guys. And I do think there is a gender barier, as in, it's easier to relate to a guy when you play him than a girl..although I quite enjoy playing women in certain games and stories.
There are no female witchers but there has been attempts to make them. It's not impossible but it's not as probable. Also, they tended to only look for boys.
Loved Geralt, and always but I dont mind wicther 4 with ciri as main character, Geralt story has been beautifully wrappe up in blood and wine dlc. The old white wolf has settled down and retired, it's time for the ashen hair young lass to drive into the world of witcher. It seems like some time have passed seing ciri become more mature and aged, which I like. Ciri is my fav character in witcher 3 apart from geralt. By no means, Ciri is weak, she has the elder blood and power. Yeah i'm totally anti-woke too but this one doesnt seems the case.

They have indeed, I may have been somewhat disinformed, but I did read about them hiring consultents from SBI, hopefully not. As I state in the video, I strongly believe they out of all game studios, don't need outside writers.

Your conserns are well founded. We too have some of these doubts in our minds. On one side, it makes sense for her to be the protagonist, on the other, as you said, they may need to retcon a lot in order to make this work..it could be as Javor pointed out in the video, since time has passed, alchemy etc to have progressed, and for the Trial of the Grasses to be..easier to go through, so to speak.. dunno, but in any case, We are hopefull that it won't let us down.

A bit surprised to hear you know about Sweet Baby tbh and that you are against what NG is doing.. nice surprise! You should really go for Cyberpunk and finish that at least, I think you'd enjoy that game, as Female V, but it needs to be the DLC version. I am hesitant if I should upload the Intergalactic video, we go crazy at times here, get a bit political etc, but I will see, maybe we will. About Split Fiction, we may cover it. I have mixed feelings, at first, the trailer let me down, then when I heard the guy talk, the concept was quite cool. But I am not sold yet, again it has two females..which kind of sucks as I would have liked to have an option between both genders like in their last game. But..their game before it takes two was about two men, so..I guess that's fair, the characters are writers with big imaginations, not space bounty hunters with shaved heads that act like guys.. so it's defo and improvement. Overall, next year has some cool games coming, but I feel like the bigger a company gets the more it gets infected with bullshit. Kingdom Come 2 is the game I look forward to the most, has a lot of the original CD PR devs veterans working on it as well as the creator of the original Mafia game. Also, the original Mass Effect Devs, that left Bio ware are making a spiritual successor to it, called Exodus. And Lastly, one of the original people that started Rockstar, and wrote a lot of their games left Rockstar and started his own studio and he is working on a new Cyberpunk- ish IP. So.. Plenty of stuff to look forward to, but mostly from smaller new developers. Old ones are really...bad, they just aren't what they used to be, those people have left and work elsewhere.

Hi Matyy, yeah you're right, this was added just as a mechanic for the game. We only state that for the game, based on witcher 3, it makes sense for her to be the protagonist, but for her to be a witcher is a bit off, it needs to be explained.

I feel like some creators of bad "woke " projects use them being woke as a shield to say "look how progressive my creation is and therefore you should like it" even though they didn't seem to care one bit about writing an actually good story that makes sense and with meaningful, well written characters in it but that is also generally true regarding all stories.
With sth woke being bad grifters use that as a weapon to paint the project being bad entirely on wokeness and that all wokness always ruins everything it's part of, which is not true. If sth woke is bad then the creators didn't care enough to make a good product and not because the product's woke, they just might use that as an excuse/shield from criticism. It's the same with "non-woke" media and pretty much everything else, when the writing is bad the product is bad, no matter what it is about. I'm sick and tired of grifters twisting it into sth that it's not. I would call making sth woke just for the sake of it without caring about a good story or product just "virtue signaling" by the creators. Cause creators that actually care about wokeness with substance often care enough to tell a story with well written characters in it.

It's not it having those elements that makes something bad, but when it's just about checking boxes, which...let's be honest, a lot of these studios do, in order to get a higher ESG score..and hence more money from investors...that's when it goes bad. Because sure, you may want diversity, but in some cases, it simply doesn't make sense, unless if you take the time to think of a reason how to do so. An example of bad diversity would be the Witcher netflix show which had random people of all types running around the cities...which simply did not make sense of the world..then again, in tv we had House of the Dragon, there we again, got people of color, but it was just one house, that came from a different place...they made it make sense, it was logical why they looked different etc...in the witcher, they just didn't bother to explain anything..so, basically, I totally agree with you, a lot of the people working on these "woke" projects are just idiots. It can and will work if done right and it makes sense. Here, in the witcher 4, it makes sense for the story, let's have Ciri be the protagonist.. No need to cry about it as if it's just purely for checking boxes..no, it makes sense..so yeah, thanks for the comments guys, appreciate you!
i don't have any problem with women characters/protagonist in any movies, series, or games.. i don't have any problem with them trying to push their agenda. BUT please make it GOOD like "The Last of Us 2". Because the problem with many people who trying to push that agenda is never make something good, cringe, and out of place.
Well said. Although, having mostly female protagonists creates a gender barier between most of the players and the character they play, because most gamers are still guys. And I do think there is a gender barier, as in, it's easier to relate to a guy when you play him than a girl..although I quite enjoy playing women in certain games and stories.

There are no female witchers but there has been attempts to make them. It's not impossible but it's not as probable. Also, they tended to only look for boys.

Loved Geralt, and always but I dont mind wicther 4 with ciri as main character, Geralt story has been beautifully wrappe up in blood and wine dlc. The old white wolf has settled down and retired, it's time for the ashen hair young lass to drive into the world of witcher. It seems like some time have passed seing ciri become more mature and aged, which I like. Ciri is my fav character in witcher 3 apart from geralt. By no means, Ciri is weak, she has the elder blood and power. Yeah i'm totally anti-woke too but this one doesnt seems the case.

11:20 Sweet baby inc dont work with CDPR... only one person who worked there is now working in CDPR as a worker of CDPR. CDPR always created their own stories, characters etc. and they do this perfectly
They have indeed, I may have been somewhat disinformed, but I did read about them hiring consultents from SBI, hopefully not. As I state in the video, I strongly believe they out of all game studios, don't need outside writers.
I feel they will retcon a bunch of stuff just to make her work, pretty much turn her into a female Geralt.

Your conserns are well founded. We too have some of these doubts in our minds. On one side, it makes sense for her to be the protagonist, on the other, as you said, they may need to retcon a lot in order to make this work..it could be as Javor pointed out in the video, since time has passed, alchemy etc to have progressed, and for the Trial of the Grasses to be..easier to go through, so to speak.. dunno, but in any case, We are hopefull that it won't let us down.

About Split Fiction, we may cover it. I have mixed feelings, at first, the trailer let me down, then when I heard the guy talk, the concept was quite cool. But I am not sold yet, again it has two females..which kind of sucks as I would have liked to have an option between both genders like in their last game. But..their game before it takes two was about two men, so..I guess that's fair, the characters are writers with big imaginations, not space bounty hunters with shaved heads that act like guys.. so it's defo and improvement.
Overall, next year has some cool games coming, but I feel like the bigger a company gets the more it gets infected with bullshit.
Kingdom Come 2 is the game I look forward to the most, has a lot of the original CD PR devs veterans working on it as well as the creator of the original Mafia game.
Also, the original Mass Effect Devs, that left Bio ware are making a spiritual successor to it, called Exodus.
And Lastly, one of the original people that started Rockstar, and wrote a lot of their games left Rockstar and started his own studio and he is working on a new Cyberpunk- ish IP.
So.. Plenty of stuff to look forward to, but mostly from smaller new developers.
Old ones are really...bad, they just aren't what they used to be, those people have left and work elsewhere.

Hi Matyy, yeah you're right, this was added just as a mechanic for the game. We only state that for the game, based on witcher 3, it makes sense for her to be the protagonist, but for her to be a witcher is a bit off, it needs to be explained.
