Brynn's first kill was one of the most satisfying kills I've ever seen. Her chances of survival, 0, her enemy is near all powerful, psychic powers at max, total upper hand. The mistake was letting her get close enough during a full panic flail and got his bell rung.

@@ghostkid1008 in the movie. They don't show us her merc'ing her friend till later. ;-P good attention to detail there though. I did admire the biblical Kain Slew Able feel to that kill too.

Alien clearly hadn't heard a sentence "Don't underestimate your enemy".
I've been thinking that she never really survived but just like everyone who got assimilated probably doesn't realize she's assimilated. Or maybe because she's one of the only few who fought back. The ending has a lot of questions. Why was she spared? Why do the aliens care about her past and gave her therapy?
There's a theory that they wanted to achieve peace on earth with the help of those slugs, but since she can forgive others and herself, she can fit into the society the aliens envisioned for us without being assimilated.

Honestly, germ warfare seems highly impractical as a combat method on such a small scale. If she's trying to survive herself, she can't afford to wait until a pandemic situation occurs among the aliens, and that's even assuming that they're vulnerable to such with their technology and biology.

They also generated a perfect biological clone of her in quite literally half a mintue, suggesting an unprecedented (by human standards) level of biological mastery, so I sincerely doubt biological warfare would even be a viable tactic against them... 🤔

I think they spared her because they respected her fight and tenacity. Probably. I mean yes she did lose technically. But she went out swinging at everything they could possibly throw at her. The other possibility they were all "human" so to speak at some point and her struggle reminded them of their own. And who knows, maybe they spared more people that they deemed worthy.
I wouldn't risk putting someone like her on my ship! she'll kill the crew given half a chance
Maybe the real "alien threat" is the parasite? The greys are just mind controlled super slaves? I mean wouldn't you want a telekinetic vessel if you were a body snatcher.
They also know she will fight FOR them against any human resistance fighters since they'd make the town go back to hating and despising her again. The second alien in the basement was the one who read her mind and basically saved her from being killed and replaced by another clone. It wasn't worthiness, it was usefulness. They came to this decision because they saw she was willing to kill even her own friends.

I wouldn't call these aliens "evil," they showed benevolence to Brynn once they empathized with her trauma. Then they adjusted the behavior of the towns people to be more kind to her.
I never had the feeling those aliens were "evil" either. They seemed more oddly naive to me. Like young children trying to capture a wild/savage animal (Bryne) - without proper training or equipment. ^^; Those poor guys failed so miserably most of the time..
Robbing people of free will is evil, though, regardless of why you do it.

Here is what I would do alternatively
1) Integration - So it seems as if she was an outcast in her town . And the alien appears to have a preference to socially isolated people ,presumably to prevent themselves from being known. If she were to tell anyone else she would appear to be a lunatic . So I would hide until dawn and find and rent a flat in the city where the aliens are unlikely to follow in fears of being discovered .
2) Cooperation - I would cooperate with the alien and the sooner I display my intelligence the sooner they realised I was as intelligent as them the sooner they would be reluctant to torture me . Perhaps they have some sort of ethical sense to consider intelligent life as an equal and therefore may find it inhumane to experiment on me .By attacking them they may have taken to understanding you to be a primitive primate .
3)Lights - These aliens have large black eyes that could a result of evolving on a planet with low levels of light . It could also be why they operate at night . They probably see very well in the dark so having a very bright torch could disorent them . If their eyes were small and had a silver shine I would deduce that they evolved on a planet with a lot of light and therefore understand that they have poor night vision without the use of some mechanical apparatus or gadget . I would try other means as well .
4)Traps - I would use traps which the vietnamese utilised such as a spike trap with human excrement on them considering the aliens have an immune system that evolved to fight microbial life native to that particular planet and even a slight infection from a different microbial world could be fatal to them.
They let her live cause she had Down's and was also a murderer. Like, I thought she'd have some kind of 'oops, *accidentally* killed my friend. No, she straight up murked Maude.

A pepper spray would have been a great weapon for this situation thanks to their massive eyes. 29:35 specifically here where the alien is up close like a complete idiot. Speaking of idiocy, my second point is these aliens seem to underestimate us judging by how comfortable they going inside the house and engaging in close combat without using any armor and weapons which gives us a massive advantage.

I love this movie. At first I found Brynn a bit annoying but she fought hard! And I love the strange but wonderful ending.

The aliens look so creepy. It's a great twist on the usual gray skinned martians that are usually depicted.
I thought they were less unsettling than other depictions of aliens from other movies to me.
