This was the point where Zero started depressing me too much lol, it reminded me of episode 9 of Game of Thrones when you realized they were not playin'
Kiritsugu making such personal excuses to act in the most brutal ways possible shows the limitarion of his way of doing things. Zero saber was created to bounce off that guy and act as a overly moral and pontificating force...but shes really the worst one for this conversation as she acted even more like a machine to protect britain including getting dirty when she needed to.
from the other hand, Kiritsugu once left situation without finishing it personally and it ended horribly. I guess he doesn`t want to do this mistake again.
I don't think there's anything personal at all in his "excuses". His entire character is about being completely impersonal; completely detached from personal feelings in order to carry out the greater good. If there was a less brutal way to efficiently bring about the same outcome, he would take it. As he said, he uses the most efficient tools at his disposal. One can argue about the philosophical implications of taking an ends justifies the means approach, but nothing he said is inherently wrong or an excuse.
because "THIS holy grail" is not the ordinally holy grail in King arthur story, this is just a artificial human made magic item, a wise mechanicals only, but is very powerful
This is why Emiya is the goat. He doesn’t use the fallacies of his father, Emiya and want to be a hero of justice who saves everyone. Yes I know, I used Emiya twice, I’m feeling a little silly rn
Not a spoiler. All Masters of this game have a good and bad side that made them realistic humans. And Emiya Kiritsugu is the prime example of a morally gray character. You can imagine this is a guy turned unhinged after witnessing the Cruelty of the world. He still wanted to save the world with the wish of "Global Peace" and he will do anything just to win even if he dies portrayed as a villain.
See Zero Saber minds because she is written to be fragile but Normal Saber would be all into ruthless murder like Kiritsugu is lol. Normal saber while she can fight with Honor and is into it what she likes more is winning.
@@thedimondminerz9049 It kinda depends on the situation, She was cool with dueling False Assassin fairly but fully ready to use exaclibur to nuke the whole neighborhood when Medea's skeleton army invaded Shirou's home
@@casuallectures2655 Yeah, it really depends, it mainly fluctuates with the stakes. The rematch with Assasin(at least from what I interpreted) seemed like she was speeding up and going faster than the first encounter.
While she likes fighting, she also has a code of honor. The way Kiritsugu betrays that code of honor in this particular plan is especially sickening and disrespectful to her. I feel like that's exactly how she would react, given how much mutual respect she and Diarmuid had for each other. He basically tramples all over that and spits in both their faces and Diarmuid dies believing Saber was in on the plan. Like, how gross does that feel? I couldn't imagine. Idk, this Saber doesn't seem fragile to me. Seems very on-brand for her character.
Have little idea of the Fate deep lore but couldn't that be because precisely meeting kiritsugu and admitting she was kind of naive? both when she talked to Gil and Alexander and after talking to Kiritsugu, after all, Zero happened before normal Fate, couldn't that mean she grew to agree slightly with Kiritsugu?
About when the HGW occurs: The Makiri, Tohsaka and Einzbern families made the grail system to charge up for 60 years and then summon servants, etc. To sum up Garnt's video: First War - Cool! Who wants to make a wish first? (they kill each other, no winner) Second War - So that won't happen I'll kill them all first! (no survivors, no winner) Third War - We need rules? Okay, so the church can be the referee.... (no winner) Fourth War - Going swimmingly so far! Sure nothing bad will happen!
This is one of my favorite dialogue in the series because they’re ideologically are both right to a degree but their personalities are completely opposite of each other. These two will never see eye to eye because of that
I just noticed that you finally got to my favorite anime and you’re talkin crap about my favorite character any anything ever lol. Kiritsugu is my spirit animal. Can’t wait to see what you say about him in later episodes
It’s already been episode 16, and you can’t even remember the most basic character names, nor do you know the most basic settings of the story background, and this is all even when Chat is there to help you explain it. Perfection
If you think about it, all servants are not equal and there will always be a servant much stronger than the other and if you are given a weak servant, there is no way you can win the war. Kiritsugu is what I deem to be the most realistic character in the show. Instead of just forcing servants to fight and pray that your servant wins, he is trying to win the war through his own capabilities too. This episode just shows that he desires victory more than Lancer’s master. Some may call his tactics underhanded, but as he said, in war, you either win or lose.
"If you are given a weak servant" well that would be the master fault. The master has the responsability of getting the relics that allow them to summon the stronger servant. If they let the summoning in "azar" hands that's up to them
@@MarcosPerez-wx1fx Not everyone has the resources to get an amazing servant. Without a relic, you just get paired with someone with high compatibility, which may be better than a strong servant that hates your guts. Ryuunosuke got Giles because they're both serial killers and got along swimmingly. Tokiomi got Gilgamesh, who is the strongest servant, but hates him. Kayneth would have had Iskander, but Waver stole the relic so he had to scramble for Diarmuid. If you have to summon an assassin, in the Fuyuki Grail Wars, it has to be one of the Hashashin, who all pretty much suck unless you get King Hassan or No Name Assassin.
After fate zero, you should definitely watch "fate: unlimited blade works". It is a story about the fifth war, Rin (the little girl) and Kiritsugu's adopted child will be in there.
It is a Holy Grail War, by rules, everyone IS SUPPOSED to kill each other until only one remain (without getting into spoilers area), nor matter the costs, utilizing all tools and methods regardless if its dirty or not.
@@lop90ful1Nah, it's a strategic play and necessary by Kiritsugu's POV coz master is also skillfull mage and can affect the results of Holy Grail War even without a servant. If Kiritsugu had let Kayneth go, there's no guarantee that Kayneth won't shoot Kiritsugu in the back, help the other mages or sign a new contract with another servant that lost its master. Plus, anyone can enter and use the Holy Grail once its activated, Kayneth, if survived and is the first one to touch the Holy Grail can obtain it even without a servant. But I get what you mean, servants dying is all that is required to activate the Holy Grail. Killing Master is not a requirement to activate it but still necessary from a strategy POV.
Actually not really........there is three majore rules:participance can only fight at night, they have to keep the casualties unaware of war and you cannot go to churches terrytory until you won or lost your servant then you can ask for your protection becuase the priest to supposed to make sure the rules are followed therefore he has to be neutral......but this rule was broken from the get go
@@rabela1810 Kiritsugu could just take them hostage and lock them somewhere they can't escape till the end.Considering that they both crippled and Keyneth can't use magecraft i doubt they could escape on their own. Also you can't touch the grail without a servant it was stated multiple times!
I actually laughed a bit when you said that you don't like Kiritsugu anymore after this scene. When I first saw that it actually confirmed to my edgy self that Kiritsugu is the most based man who had ever lived. That is how you wage war. Honor is for pussies, everything goes. Using every method possible to completely annihilate the enemy.

Luke got mad surprised that an assassin known as Mage Slayer assassinated a mage :P Kiritsugu was never out there pretending to be a knight.

why this when you have "people die when they are killed". He is Emiya after all)

Genious scene
Genious dialogue with saber

One of the best episodes in Anime to be fair.
Not even close
This is where downhill of this rollercoaster starts
“Lancer, shit yourself”
definitely brutal, but most brutal fate episode for me will always be unlimited blade works episode 15. no spoilers. if you know, you know.

This episode and the next one define this series perfectly, at least for me.
