      federz666 Don't despair! I have two Warwicks, I love them very much.. believe me. But know that alot of what we also admire is the eye-candy factor... I have a bass that is worth half of what my Thumb 6 NT is, and that has become my primary work horse. Sometimes even the nicest looking instruments don't deliver on all fronts :)

      +1BassJohn Agreed here as well. As mentioned in another comment, I bought a 1994 Warwick Fortress V back in 1996 for 1/3rd the price of a Thumb V NT and with a Thumb V NT there for me to compare it against, it was the better sounding, better playing bass. It's only sounded better through the years. I have a 1990 Squire P-Bass that sounds and plays great.

      I have ordered through this site, and I live in Germany - waiting times are pretty hefty 3-4 months. Their reply was quick and very friendly ' cos I had some questions and everything went smoothly. Now I'm waiting still for mine. They ship worldwide but I guess waiting times are even longer then.

    Are the thumb basses prone to headstock diving, since their bodies are relatively short?

  • @zemaniak22
    @zemaniak22 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Shopping for one
    Bubinga or Ovanglol?
    Not easy to find them in shops to try
    Leaning towards 5 string vs 4 but would privilege sound or # of strings

    MAN!!! you play like a Prince.. I wanna take up the Bass now.
    I always thought Warwick was the best, after my favourite Fender Jazz Bass of course.
    But your style and playing is my me reconsider. The body is so nice and small. I am also guessing that Neck thru is where it's at rather than the Bolt-on.

      +BeeElectric The BO is nice to and has a bit more of a growl to it. But the NT is really nice as well and has a little bit more clear tones in the lows. I own a 99' Thumb BO and looking for a NT now as well.

    Ever since I picked one up off the rack for the first time, I've coveted the Thumb NT. Love the look, love the construction. The sound is honestly something I don't love about it. A good 23 years since I first played one, my preference for bass tone has gone much more towards the P-Bass, that round warm full tone. For hi-fi slap, I prefer the stingray. The thumb sounds too Jaco, too thin for me. I bought the Fortress V bolt on for 1/3rd the price of a Thumb NT and I have to say it has a greater tonal range and a surprising amount of low end for a Warwick. While clearly a beat up road warrior after over two decades of playing, it has only sounded better with age.

    • @Nickthebassist01
      @Nickthebassist01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Thumb can have a lot of low end. It’ll cut through the mix far better than any fender though. I’ve had a lot of both brands….don’t use fender anymore!

    • @wizardmix
      @wizardmix 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Nickthebassist01 Oddly I don't use a fender P for much of anything but I'm getting a convincing P-Bass tone out of something that looks nothing like a P-Bass: A Curbow I. E. Petite V on full neck pickup. I've never played a bass with flatter action or more reliable neck in my life. It's not the best sounding bass I have but it's a killer touring bass that definitely cuts through a mix.

    Warwick sounds amazing on the new JFAC record. It's like he said when you hear it on a recording and you know instantly what it is.

    Most closely to a Rick in my opinion although still with it's own touch. It's just an excellent sounding bass, no question.

  • @daitos1955

    I'm not crazy about the slap tone of the Thumb bass, to nasal, much rather have the Fender Jazz or fender jazz style bass. Great tone for funk though, very midrangie.

    lol I think my Warwick that I ordered brand new 11 years ago is better. lmao I've tried "vintage " Warwick NT5 . No difference exep for the old one looks less awesome . :) I could also say that my 76 Fender Precision Bass is better for being older but that wouldn't be true and it would make me sound like a dueche bag.
