Interesting way of thickening/thinning text. I usually duplicate the text (like adding a shadow) in Design Space then move the copy as close to the original text as possible to thicken it and group. Weld it once I’ve finished with it.

Well thanks again! I just left you a comment on your other video about the character mapping. I also have inkscape and heck yes its intimidating as heck! I tried to make a rhinestone templet with it but failed, lol. Maybe you could do a tutorial on that. I know there are some on youtube but you are a great teacher, you get right to the point yet go about it in a way that is easy to follow along and understand. Again, thank you soooo much, this will help me with my signs and now I'll actually get them done because I wont be frustrated. I wish cricut would incorporate some of these other things like fontlab pad, and a built in character pad (they know people download their own fonts and special characters and should mend their software to make designing less frustrating with the fonts not connecting or looking very bad!

There's actually a way to control the ammount of scaling, you can find it in preferences.
See category "Behaviour". In subcategory "Steps" there's a variable for Inset/Outset step.

Great tutorial, however, since I have a MAC and have to use the Beta version of inkspace this didn't work for me. I did stumble across using path-stroke to path to thicken the font which worked great for me but it only allows you to apply it once but definitely sufficient since I'm wanting to thicken the fancy font enough to be able to cut on my cricut. When you save it, it automatically saves it to an svg file which cricut likes.
