As a PC owner, nothing is more pitiful to me than PC dudes bashing the PS5 Pro, #1 we do not use disk drives in most PC these days to play games. #2 I hate how much they are trying to convince gamers that a $700 PC is a better gaming device than the Pro. #3 HOW ARE PC GAMERS complaining bout incremental improvements when they have to do that very thing every 2 to 3 years to get the most from their RIG!
Thanks for having some common sense. You will not get a $700 off the shelf pc that outperforms the pro. Even if it performs comparably, you probably get 500gigs of memory at best.
The disc drive for the PS5 is sold out everywhere so people want it. Also the PC has multiple storefronts to find deals. The only way to do that on a console is to buy physical.
dont forget that a lot of pc gamers just sell their old parts for said small upgrade which is what sony wants here people who have a 5 should sell for the pro if they want one then the used 5's flood the market allowing for second hand entry and those who just were still hesitant on getting a 5 can get a used one pretty cheap and sony still makes money of them buying a few games, psn plus and accessories.

I see it as less than $200, inflation has hit hard since the PS5 launched. It's only about $150 more, which isn't much when you consider that your getting ~1.3tb of more storage

I have a PS5 and I brought a Pro the other day, because the performance of the Pro is way better than the 5. So I am very happy with it, until I get a PS6 in 5 years time.

For sure thought GTA 6 will run better on the pro.

The only game my original PS5 couldn't play for some reason was the director's cut of Death Stranding. For some reason the code in that game would just overheat the system and do a complete shutdown. Played the PS4 version instead. I don't think this had anything to do with the PS5. The hardware is clean, stored out in the open and I ran it with a cooling dock yet it still overheated rapidly.

PS5 pro is not worth that investment because of "future" things down the line. That's what the ps6 is for. The Pro is a glorified extra settings button to make you feel like your getting more when in reality you could adjust your TV settings for the same effect.
PS5 base model is good enough. I grew up with the spectrum 48k and all the other consoles from the get go. Graphics are not the be all and end all,playability is the main thing in a game.

Traded my ps5 in and purchased the pro . Really happy with it so far . Surprised by how much smaller it is . 2tb storage is nice playing re4 at 2k 120fps buttery smooth 👌
Good choice traded in my Xbox Series S and X for the PS5 Pro, and I absolutely love it! I just don't like all the down talk on the system as it's not for everyone! It's for a very small amount of game enthusiasts in my opinion. And not for the every day gamer that looks for all the bells and whistles.
I'm having a blast with Stellar Blade and appreciate the better visual clarity along with a stable frame rate. Monster Hunter Wilds I feel will be super worth it and I gotta play Ghost of Yotei on the pro like I did with the first game.
Try GoW Ragnarock ,its brutal. 80+ FPS 4k top quality! Last of Us is unbelievable too! Returnal and many more.. upgraded game are getting more and more every single day :)

Same. I'm very happy with my standard PS5. My feeling is that the pro is mainly for collectors, whales, and streamers. Technology in this area has pretty much plateaued, with improvements only happening incrementally these days. It'll take a true breakthrough across the board in computing before we see better gameplay than what is currently available, IMHO. 🤞🤞 Thank you for the review, though. How much did you get or ps5 for? Also have to take inflation into account. $700 today is only $650 in 2020 when the OG ps5 launched and people were paying $600-800 for the OG Amateurs. If anything those og ps5 owners showed Sony that people are willing to spend +$700 on a console

The Pro mode is essentially a guaranteed lock at 60fps with very good image quality thanks to PSSR, and Pro Max pushes resolution up to native 4K, and sacrifices a crystal-clean 60fps. Instead, it's usually around 50fps, which isn't ideal but will play perfectly smoothly on a VRR-capable display a majority of the time... The larger PS5 Pro GPU offers 45% faster rendering than the original PS5, which is how many (but not all) PS5 Pro-enhanced games can achieve that 4K 60fps with “fidelity” graphics.

It's like the Horizon Zero Dawn upgrade it's just textures. I bought the regular disc version and saved over 200 dollars. The cost of a disc drive sent the pro over 800 Dollars and I don't think it's worth it. PS4 pro was worth the upgrade going from 1080p to 4k but this gen it isn't worth the extra cost.

During the scalping era when ps5’s were going for $1k-1.5k. Due to the limited availability for such a long time. Before anyone could really get one Sony had already announced they were releasing the Ps5 pro in like 2-3 years alongside a slim version. Then i made my mind up not to buy a normal ps5. My friend bought a normal ps5 brand new for like $650 when they went back down to RRP and were available everywhere. For an extra $100 im getting something with double the memory storage and about 25-60% faster, and can reach 120hz. Thats when a ps5 pro is worth it. For a lot of people who have ps5s now you just didnt wait out and list for the news. So far about 11 games have been ps5 releases. This entire time it’s not worth getting a ps5. However in about 12 months from now gta6 is being released. Thats when its worth it

The difference is UNREAL when is not on youtube video! I tested Last Of Us, God of War and few others with Pro mode and it's top! I always find my PS5 fat struggling with the FPS and i cannot even imagine to play Quality mode on the regular..unplayable. But a lot of people just don't need the Pro and they don't care much for fps so i get them too. If you have nice tv with vrr, hdr etc it's worth it.
None of the PS exclusives games have any problems on the regular PS5, they all run and look great even on performance mode, the only games it struggles with are the some of the multiplatform games, and it's either because it's CPU limited or they are badly optimized to run on perf mode...
Ure waisting ure time trying to tell people they have no clue console is amazing and nearly all owners agree if u have a oled tv or a 120hz vrr tv console is a massive improvement but they rather go by you tube video comparisons just enjoy ure high end graphics and high fps
They should have included the vertical stand at the very least not that you need it. There's no ventilation occurring under the unit and it's just for stability but in my current setup it's placed in a spot where it won't get bumped.

You don’t need to disassemble shit. You buy a separate drive for the pro or you use it as a digital system like PCs have been for a decade or more. If you already have a disc drive and it’s attached to a slim then yeah, you can save a bit of money and sell the slim as a digital system, but that’s why it’s modular. It’s not “disassembly”.

I love my OG PS5, but I'm getting the Pro in February. Mainly for VR. I won't get the PS6, but I'll be getting the PS6 Pro. I'm buying pro to pro from now on.
PSVR2 does look super slick from what I've seen, but I just don't know if the library is very worth it at the moment. All the best VR stuff is on PC at the moment. The Horizon game looks nice, but you are going to want cool stuff like Half Life Alyx and Into the Radius (if you like that specific type of game)

I am perfectly content with my PS5 since that system is basically the last mainline console along with the Series X to be fully physical instead of having to pay extra for a damn disc drive

Yeah, and the problem with todays consoles being based on PC hardware is that the next version will only be marginally better. The days of drastic upgrades with new hardware are pretty much over until someone creates some new custom hardware that changes that again.

I honestly can’t tell between 120fps and 240fps anymore. I have trouble between 60 and 120 as it is. I think 120 is the max they will strive for on consoles. It’s so imperceptible for the vast majority of gamers it’s not worth the effort
For the next console generation, we need a minimum target frame rate of 60 for every game (except for the choose-your-own-adventure movies like Late Shift). 30 fps should no longer even be a consideration for 99% of titles.
@@InJeffable the difference between 30 and 60fps is stark and instantly noticeable. Call me a layman but for me it’s diminishing returns above 60. Sure I can tell 120 vs 60 when side by side but in the heat of the moment I may not notice right away. And anything beyond 120 is just invisible to me. The sacrifices a console needs to do to output beyond 60fps are way too much, I’d rather them concentrate on resolution, or enemies/NPCs on screen, etc etc
I definitely won't be buying the PlayStation 5 Pro. I never intended to. Even though my PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED were all stolen last week. I bought another Xbox Series X last Friday, and I bought me a PlayStation 5 Slim tonight. I'm going to get me another Switch OLED next pay or maybe early on next month but I promised myself I was not going to buy any mid-gen refresh consoles this console generation. Most developers are not even making use of the power of the base model PlayStation 5 or Xbox so I don't feel that a mid-gen refresh was necessary.

Got the LG oled 65ich before the base ps5 . Runs perfectly together. Slap the setting to quality and still 4k60 . Want more fps ? Plug her into a old 1080p or 1440p . Always go pc for eye candy tho . The current line up of game still don't even fully push the base anyway 😂 not like ps4 days where some did reach the machines limit

I bought my disc drive at the local store that sells ps5s and it is a way better upgrade although you need the hardware 120hz display 4k to fully appreciate it and all games are gonna be a heavy burden on reg ps5 going forward...
I gave in to the scalper price vs what you get. That's one thing but when you get two brand new units back to back (initial purchase + replacement) which smell bad right out of the box and stink up the whole room when starting a game. That's really bad on Sony's part. Hope I can get my money back.
I bought one Today. Its definitely a noticeable difference with the visuals and smoothness even on the main screen but I agree with most people that the price is steep as hell for a console without a disc drive. Also its boxed so poorly compared to the original. I was a bit disappointed but hey I was warned. At least my games will be a bit prettier.
I dont have a 4k TV so it would not make any difference in terms of picture quality right? I get the ps5 slim for 500€ and the ps5 pro for 920€ with the disc reader. A 4 k TV would cost me 300€. That is 1220€ together. So 720€ more for a slight improvement right? Not worth it right?

@3Deez3 it's almost triple the storage when you think about it. PRO has 1.89tb and I believe the Amatuer PS5 only has around ~.65 TB/650gb

The only game my original PS5 couldn't play for some reason was the director's cut of Death Stranding. For some reason the code in that game would just overheat the system and do a complete shutdown. Played the PS4 version instead. I don't think this had anything to do with the PS5. The hardware is clean, stored out in the open and I ran it with a cooling dock yet it still overheated rapidly.

PS5 pro is not worth that investment because of "future" things down the line. That's what the ps6 is for. The Pro is a glorified extra settings button to make you feel like your getting more when in reality you could adjust your TV settings for the same effect.

Good choice traded in my Xbox Series S and X for the PS5 Pro, and I absolutely love it! I just don't like all the down talk on the system as it's not for everyone! Technology in this area has pretty much plateaued, with improvements only happening incrementally these days. It'll take a true breakthrough across the board in computing before we see better gameplay than what is currently available, IMHO. 🤞🤞

The Pro mode is essentially a guaranteed lock at 60fps with very good image quality thanks to PSSR, and Pro Max pushes resolution up to native 4K, and sacrifices a crystal-clean 60fps. It's like the Horizon Zero Dawn upgrade it's just textures. I bought the regular disc version and saved over 200 dollars. The cost of a disc drive sent the pro over 800 Dollars and I don't think it's worth it. PS4 pro was worth the upgrade going from 1080p to 4k but this gen it isn't worth the extra cost.

During the scalping era when ps5’s were going for $1k-1.5k. Due to the limited availability for such a long time. Before anyone could really get one Sony had already announced they were releasing the Ps5 pro in like 2-3 years alongside a slim version. Then i made my mind up not to buy a normal ps5.
My friend bought a normal ps5 brand new for like $650 when they went back down to RRP and were available everywhere. For an extra $100 im getting something with double the memory storage and about 25-60% faster, and can reach 120hz. Thats when a ps5 pro is worth it.
For a lot of people who have ps5s now you just didnt wait out and list for the news. So far about 11 games have been ps5 releases. This entire time it’s not worth getting a ps5. However in about 12 months from now gta6 is being released. Thats when its worth it

The difference is UNREAL when is not on youtube video! I tested Last Of Us, God of War and few others with Pro mode and it's top! I always find my PS5 fat struggling with the FPS and i cannot even imagine to play Quality mode on the regular..unplayable. But a lot of people just don't need the Pro and they don't care much for fps so i get them too. If you have nice tv with vrr, hdr etc it's worth it.

None of the PS exclusives games have any problems on the regular PS5, they all run and look great even on performance mode, the only games it struggles with are the some of the multiplatform games, and it's either because it's CPU limited or they are badly optimized to run on perf mode...

You don’t need to disassemble shit. You buy a separate drive for the pro or you use it as a digital system like PCs have been for a decade or more. If you already have a disc drive and it’s attached to a slim then yeah, you can save a bit of money and sell the slim as a digital system, but that’s why it’s modular. It’s not “disassembly”.

I love my OG PS5, but I'm getting the Pro in February. Mainly for VR. I won't get the PS6, but I'll be getting the PS6 Pro. I'm buying pro to pro from now on.

PSVR2 does look super slick from what I've seen, but I just don't know if the library is very worth it at the moment. All the best VR stuff is on PC at the moment. The Horizon game looks nice, but you are going to want cool stuff like Half Life Alyx and Into the Radius (if you like that specific type of game)

I honestly can’t tell between 120fps and 240fps anymore. I have trouble between 60 and 120 as it is. I think 120 is the max they will strive for on consoles. It’s so imperceptible for the vast majority of gamers it’s not worth the effort
For the next console generation, we need a minimum target frame rate of 60 for every game (except for the choose-your-own-adventure movies like Late Shift). 30 fps should no longer even be a consideration for 99% of titles.
@@InJeffable the difference between 30 and 60fps is stark and instantly noticeable. Call me a layman but for me it’s diminishing returns above 60. Sure I can tell 120 vs 60 when side by side but in the heat of the moment I may not notice right away. And anything beyond 120 is just invisible to me. The sacrifices a console needs to do to output beyond 60fps are way too much, I’d rather them concentrate on resolution, or enemies/NPCs on screen, etc etc

I definitely won't be buying the PlayStation 5 Pro. I never intended to. Even though my PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED were all stolen last week. I bought another Xbox Series X last Friday, and I bought me a PlayStation 5 Slim tonight. I'm going to get me another Switch OLED next pay or maybe early on next month but I promised myself I was not going to buy any mid-gen refresh consoles this console generation. Most developers are not even making use of the power of the base model PlayStation 5 or Xbox so I don't feel that a mid-gen refresh was necessary.

Yup. I hope that people with lower end TVs didn't go out and buy a brand new PS5 Pro only to have the image look the exact same. Not saying everyone should go out right now and buy a 4k 120hz OLED, but I imagine anything less than that isn't going to be enough to notice the improvements in the pro.

I had a launch ps5. The only reason I bought a pro is because I got a decent Christmas bonus. If not it's not worth upgrading
Got the LG oled 65ich before the base ps5 . Runs perfectly together. Slap the setting to quality and still 4k60 . Want more fps ? Plug her into a old 1080p or 1440p . Always go pc for eye candy tho . The current line up of game still don't even fully push the base anyway 😂 not like ps4 days where some did reach the machines limit
Upgrading from a 2013 PS4. Bought a pro, but haven’t opened I yet. May return it and just get a slim. Can’t find disc drives for the pro; out of stock everywhere.

I bought my disc drive at the local store that sells ps5s and it is a way better upgrade although you need the hardware 120hz display 4k to fully appreciate it and all games are gonna be a heavy burden on reg ps5 going forward...
I gave in to the scalper price vs what you get. That's one thing but when you get two brand new units back to back (initial purchase + replacement) which smell bad right out of the box and stink up the whole room when starting a game. That's really bad on Sony's part. Hope I can get my money back.
Why dont they just give u a disc drive with the ps5 pro like the normal ps5?

I, too, will keep my base form ps5, but at least I'll give the Pro 1-3 years tops to convince me otherwise.

I bought one Today. Its definitely a noticeable difference with the visuals and smoothness even on the main screen but I agree with most people that the price is steep as hell for a console without a disc drive. Also its boxed so poorly compared to the original. I was a bit disappointed but hey I was warned. At least my games will be a bit prettier.

I get the ps5 slim for 500€ and the ps5 pro for 920€ with the disc reader. A 4 k TV would cost me 300€. That is 1220€ together. So 720€ more for a slight improvement right? Not worth it right?
At 1080p you’d get better ray tracing maybe and some more frames, I’d imagine you’d get enough frames at 1080p not to notice a huge difference though
