That's funny as hell. Sorta. I was just doing a search for a Kiev 60. I am considering this Soviet piece of junk instead of a less junky Bronica for medium format.
I have a 1981 Kiev 6c with the waistlevel finder which can be focused at eyelevel. It has the 90mm Vega 2.8 lens and the shutter release is on the left. £45 plus postage from the Ukraine. I bought the eye level prism finder but have never used it. Great camera, wonderful lens.
@@metalfingersfilm they are much better than Zenits tho Source: had 7 Zenits: 1 Zenit-C, 2 Zenit-E, 1 Zenit TTL, 2 Zenit-19 and 1 Zenit-12xp. 6 jammed and one kinda usable, but on 'B' shutter speed the mirror drops down. I've had a massive butthurt after my last Zenit (Zenit-19, presumably one of the best Zenit cameras) jammed and bought a Kiev-19 with Helios-81H. The viewfinder is much bigger and brighter, the camera itself feels much better to use, and most importantly it is working perfectly. After about a year had it CLA'd because original foam around the focusing screen was starting to decay, and since then I shot at least 25 rolls with it.
Says there is no light metering system - take one picture then proceed to replace the chest viewer with the TTL lighmeter-equipped (not coupled, admittedly) prism :) I would have liked a bit more tech details but this is a nice video anyway, thanks you.
Love the results from the Kiev 60 camera! I just got one and am getting it repaired. Would love a video on your impressions using this camera, including quirks and tips from your experience. Just subscribed! Keep up the great work. 👍
I owned a Kiev 60 about 15 years ago. It was a great way to begin with medium format as these cameras are so inexpensive. However, the one I had was constantly plagued by film spacing problems. I sent it off to the Ukraine once to be fixed but I still had the problem. I hear that some examples never have this issue.
The spacing issue is due to old soviet film stocks being thicker than western counterparts, later models might be readjusted. But my simple hack is just ignoring the red dot and moving the start position of the film right next to the taking spool. No issues anymore.
I have had both, bad spacing and good spacing ... recently my "better" camera got issues ... but it may be because I wasn't using it enough ... gotta blow some more film to exercise that soviet oil!!!
You put your iso in, select the f stop you want to use, point it at the subject and it’ll tell you what shutter speed to use or if you put a shutter speed in it’ll tell you what f stop to use. It’s not as intimidating as people think.
This camera is not made in Ukraine, it is made in the USSR. The best lenses for her are "Вега" (Vega) lenses. Although the "Волна"(Wave) is also not very bad
What an amazing looking camera! I was so close to ordering one but a TLR at a very good price had to be the first medium format camera! By the way it saddens me that the link to the music isn't working (deleted channel?). The music is FIRE
You are of course. Well done guys. Thank you for the review of our Soviet camera,💯💯💯🌍🌍🌍💕💕💕 but I don’t understand how to place photos from this camera 📸📸📸on Instagram🙈🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣its not a good idea- big format of photo and small format of IG🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈
When you load a new film to shoot on the camera when you already loaded the new one and the arrow ➡ points straight to the red point, how much times do you shoot and advance till you have the photo number 1 ready to start? Just arrived mi kiev 6C 2 days ago and just would love to know that! Thanks in advance 😊
lol "compact camera". that aside, great video! I really liked the shots you got out of it and the warmer tones against your video recording made for a nice contrast.
Nice channel! I want to try medium format. Do you think kiev 60 is betther thank kiev 88? Do you shoot in super 8 this video or did you use some film overlay pack?
There are trade offs with both. The Kiev 88 has removable backs so you can switch film stocks on the fly and is more modular. But the Kiev 60 is based on the same design as the Pentacon Six with a bit less fit and polish. If you do get a Kiev 88 look for the CM version which uses the Pentacon Six mount. The older Kiev 88 and Salyut use the older 1000 series Hasselblad mount and has much less options for lenses. Whereas the Pentacon Six, Kiev 60 and Kiev 88 CM along with the Exakta 66 use the same mount making for probably the most extensive medium format lens ecosystem ever made.
Wonderful atmospheric review! but - Kiev 60 was made at the Arsenal plant in Kiev - in the Ukrainian part of the USSR. Therefore - not a russian, but a ukrainian camera)
Well well, it seems a new player has entered the username arena
okay okay we got it figured out.. ;)
Did yall try to swoop the name?

finally, grainydays lore
Been looking to get into medium format and this looks like a decent budget friendly option. Loved the images!
I have been using Kiev 60s for about 25 years, I love them!!! If you load properly they are fantastic!!!

Great camera, wonderful lens.
I''ll look into it! Surprisingly ive heard some bad things about the kiev 35mm cams!
@@metalfingersfilm I have heard that too.
I have a Zorki 4k rangefinder with the wonderful Jupiter 8 50mm f2 lens.
No problems.

Definitely have encountered this issue with our model.
