    Am very interested in not only how to weather/apply effects but how you make your various models. I believe many are kits but the building where you placed and weathered the drain pipe did not seem to be a kit. Can you explain how you made that? Thanks

    Great video thank you!
    Would you use a matte tarnish to seal the pigments here or a pigment sealer?

    • @vallejocolors
      @vallejocolors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No. Do not apply anything to seal the pigments. In fact sealing pigments is an “urban myth”... They will absorb any medium and will become like a paste. The dusty and natural look will be lost.

    • @25mfd
      @25mfd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @vellejocolors but for something like model railroad equipment which is touched way more often than a static display what do you do???... touching the pigments will rub them off... ive seen other vids of rail modelers sealing their models with dullcote or the Tamiya x-21 flatbase

    Would you seal the final finish in a mat varnish please. ?

    • @Adol666
      @Adol666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. This would be the final step in weathering process. The airbrush thinner fixes the pigment. But not to the point were you can touch it . If you seal it you will mess up the pigments. Put it up on the shelf in a case and try not to touch it

    Outstanding technique and skill. Resulting in a fantastic effect. However, vary rarely were military vehicles in such a poor state of repair. So if wanting historical accuracy then I’d say less rust.

      Engine fire or ammo explosion. Try a Google search for “destroyed T-55” and you’ll find a picture of one in the Iraq war on fire with the turret engulfed in flames in the same location as the burn pattern of this one

    Nice vid, but you switched models midway thru the tutorial. Confusing. The technique is about three steps too lengthy for the resulting effects, you buried about two steps in extra material, which is costly, and unnecessary.

    • @mistrimeat
      @mistrimeat 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Griffith I agree...why did they not show the technique on the initial turret? It’s confusing and not a great tutorial.

    • @Adol666
      @Adol666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree on switching turrets half way through but on the first he didnt bury effects. He layered them. If you look you can still see the grey blue, white and rust he Airbrushed on. Trust me it doesnt look right if you just put pigments over pure black base
