    In this video I show you how to sign the word "beautiful".
    There is more than one way to say that something is beautiful in English and the same holds true for ASL. This is why I include the signs for gorgeous, good-looking and handsome along with a signed example of a more casual expression.
    It is common to see more than one sign for a particular word when using ASL. That is why I offer 3 different variations for the phrase "good-looking". Keep in mind that there are a few options for the sign "gorgeous" as well. In this video I show you one example of how I sign the word "gorgeous" by giving an extra "pop" at the end of the sign. You may also see this variation used for beautiful which I understand may be confusing.
    Know the various options and choose what works best for you or what the Deaf Community is using in your area.

    Can you make a video about communicating with kids? There's a little girl who comes into my store and I'm not sure 'you are beautiful!' is appropriate. I'd like to say 'I love your outfit' or 'you must be so smart!' Something along those lines. She's only 5 or 6 so I'm not sure how well she communicates with ASL. Just something simple to boost her confidence would be great, thank you!! ❤

      Hi and thanks for watching! That's a great request. My first thought is using the sign for "like." you could sign "I like you shirt," "I like your shoes," "hair," etc. Check out this video for "like" and I will work on ideas for a compliment video.

    I appreciate the effort you put into the alternative or slang signs. It's so much fun learning! How would I sign, *you're beautiful, like your mother"? More specifically, 'like' in the context of comparison? I got the you're beautiful part now, thank you ☺️.

    • @ASLLOVE
      @ASLLOVE  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm glad you're enjoying learning! In the context of comparison you would use the sign for "same." I would sign "beautiful - you - same - your - mom" to mean "You are beautiful just like your mother."

    Is handsome the same sign as Hawaii? I see no difference. Is it just context?

    • @ASLLOVE
      @ASLLOVE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Exactly. I've been told that because Hawaii is "beautiful" the "H" version (same as handsome) is used. Context would determine the meaning. I have seen other variations for Hawaii too. There is a version that mimics the movement of a Hula skirt. I do not currently have a video showing this but check out this link from SignASL.

    2:04 well, we don't use that sign here for beautiful, that's for sure-

    • @ASLLOVE
      @ASLLOVE  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair enough. I don’t use it either. I prefer to simply sign “wow” or beautiful/handsome - but I have seen it used. I think it’s important to know what other options exist in case you ever do come across it.
