      @@mc-qx6ue pretty good it was a D9. I was little rough but once I figured out the blade while pushing it was cake after that. I was pushing coal and rock

    Hi. Could you put together a instructional video on dozers and loaders? I know the best way to learn how to operate is getting seat time but your the kind of person id like to learn from via video. You've said you have been a heavy equipment operator a long time. Better try and learn from someone with a lot of time in the machine than a guy who hasn't.
    I would appreciate it.
    Thanks and good vid. It was pretty basic and straight forward.

      Thanks! I’m working on a D7R at work right now. I took it out today for a test spin to get everything up to operating temp and find ANYTHING ELSE I need to fix. This is the first dozer I’ve ever ran. The tractor was a waste handler machine, so... it pushed trash in a landfill, and there’s plenty to fix.
      While playing- I mean testing... the machine, I realized one thing very quickly. Operating a piece of equipment is a lot harder than it looks, and as you stated, the blades on these machines are difficult to grade with! I’m sure there are people out there who can do it well, but I found out quickly I’m not one of them. Once I started pushing and sloping piles of dirt, the operation became natural. These blades are very effective for pushing and piling, and I don’t know if I was just getting the hang of it or if it’s the blade design, but building long, gradual slopes was very easy and the grade while sloping was very easy to maintain.
      The throttle and decelerator pedal was a bit difficult to master too, but it just takes some getting used to. Also, by using the decelerator pedal, you can lower your RPM to a desired speed, and then push and hold the high idle switch for 3 seconds to hold the engine at this speed. I wish there was a memory setting however, as you can decelerate the engine with the pedal, and it will return to your preset, but if you go to low idle with the throttle switch, your setting is cleared from memory, and the engine will return to high idle; you now have to repeat the set-up process.
      All in all it was a lot of fun, but I can’t wait to get on a D5 or D6 with a 6 way blade.

    My grandpa ran a D7 dozer that my dad still keeps on our farm. I don't know the year (probably mid-80's), but I know it's new enough to have that wait-to-start buzzer. I just remember that I hated riding that thing with my dad, cause it was real bumpy with him behind the levers. My grandpa also had a D8 (I think it was an N) that he had to sell, but he sure loved Cat construction equipment.

    You are doing a great job of explaining how the machine works, and when I first got to work on a Caterpillar one guy loaned us to use when clearing church land I was in love. It worked like a charm, and the only feature we didn't have on the unit was the gripper since their bulldozer was mainly used in the woods and I guess they didn't need it. Upon running the unit over one area which was all clay, I wished the gripper was on it so I could tear up that clay better than we did. Your tutorial was great, and I would love to view more videos of you operating the bulldozers.

      The old dozers are my favorite because it takes a lot more skill and coordination to be productive with them! The really old ones had a gravity cable lifted blade. I have never run a dozer newer than 1984 and hope to one day try out a newer model to compare it to the vintage units I have operated.

    Great video, but I really need a help here about a, apparently, stupid issue that I guess everyone suppose to know so no one says it in ANY video on TH-cam: Reversing a dozer is different from a car. I mean, in a dozer you don't "turn right or left", you turn clockwise and counter-clockwise. It means no matter if you are going forward or backward, it will keep turning clock or counter-clockwise, right? But my friend think it works like a car. So please, help me win or even loose this bet, I don't care. I just want to know what does the dozer says!!! Cheerios

    • @zackbundy8097
      @zackbundy8097 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sidney Moraes Oniria a dozer moves in reverse the same way it moves forward the tracks just turn the opposite way example while moving in reverse you wana go left you steer left the tracks speed up or slow down to match the way your turning

    nice video!!!! but just so you dont misinform people, these dozers are actually designed to shift at full throttle, it actually does more damage to them to slow way down like that because there is not enough pressure in the transmission to shift it properly.
