If I remember, he zone focuses at 5-13 ft so he doesn't really touch the focus ring

Joe - is it ever weird/uncomfortable when somebody notices you're taking a photo of them on the street? What do you do in that situation?
you just have to be confident and keep going, fuck the uncomfortable feelings haha
idk about Joe but personally at first it's always a bit of a struggle until I get in the zone and stop giving 0 fucks, but best thing you could do If you get noticed is smile and say thank you.

This is the kind of film-stuff that I enjoy before go to bed.
I love how these people they are just walking by and you snap them and these people maybe will see them but maybe not I just love how this turns out!
Absolutely loved the shot of, the older lady with the fur and big squared glasses. Lovely shots and I feel like I need to give Tri X some more love.
I love this series. It's so fun to look try and find the shot before Joe takes it and see how his composition is different from what I envisioned. Incredible work!

Neither am I! I’m from Mesa AZ, but I’m only 17. I’ve been really inspired by @Joe Greer! I’ve invested in myself and bought a Nikon N5005 and a Kodak disponible camera. Keep up the vids!! So good and inspirational

the chest mount camera adds an element of surprise to your video and photo work in my opinion. its always so cool to be watching from your chest and think of what you are going to point your camera at in a scene, yet be happily surprised if it is an image of something completely different than what I was fixating on in the video clip!

Amazing video, do you have poeple complaining when they saw that you took them a photo? It's amazing seeing people noticing and not saying anything.
Rubenz I’m really curious about this as well. I want to get more into street photography like this but I’m pretty nervous and don’t know how to handle people’s reactions. Kinda wish he included some of that interaction here.
It looks like they are unsure if it’s a photo of them or something else... that’s probably why they don’t say much. When I shot film on a ferry about a month ago, I was shooting another ferry passing by through a window but a girl thought I was taking a pic of her and she covered her face... although she’s nowhere in frame.
If you’re camera looks old enough people are less annoyed than if you’re shooting a digital looking camera in my experience. Also, if you’re young enough you can pretend you’re a student if someone approaches you about it.
I've been practicing street photography for nearly three years, it's depends actually on the place, shooting in new York or USA is way easier than countries like morocco, because people in USA are more used to cameras and also laws are good comparing to third world countries.

Love it man, I’ve been doing these POV videos as well and it’s just been super therapeutic to just walk around and shoot whatever you want ! Keep it up, making me want to get up and go shoot.
I'm loving street diaries so far. The chest mount view is like GoldenEye: ioe takes on NYC. It would be interesting to get a little sneak peak through the viewfinder too.

I agree with you, the chest mount perspective is better, and even if we see your Leica in the shot the wide angle of the gopro helps seeing the scene you're photographing. Great video, I love this series.

Just got back from my trip to NYC a few weeks ago. Was there when these last 2 videos were filmed and it's taking me right back seeing all the familiar streets. These are cool. I like them a lot. Maybe an idea as the series evolves is bringing on some of your photography friends and have them talk about how they go out and shoot, or just have an entire episode from the perspective of another photographer. Keep up the good work

5:52 I was unbelievably confused as to how he was filming this video without a GoPro on his chest. Then I realized the box on top of the camera wasn't a flash...😂 such a good video!
So sick. I was in NY last year and this video captures the vibe so well. So many opportunities for street shooting. Great shots man inspiring stuff.

Love these videos Joe! Fun to watch you work. One thing though I noticed, you always advance a couple frames in your M6 before you put the bottom plate on but you don’t have to advance any frames it was designed that way. I throw my roll in and stretch it across to the other side and just make sure my film is in between the teeth then close it right up. I usually get 38 shots on a 36 roll because of this
