My first manga as well after I finished the anime though I read vol1 then started Shonan junai gumi (onizuka’s high school days) which is really nice as well.

This manga has everything whether it be comedy or action or philosophy. It is pretty dark at times too. I was happy,sad, frustrated,amazed while reading it. One of the best manga I have ever read

Whenever I first got into GTO I was the same exact age that he is in the story so it was as relatable as anything ever could be. @Nasser Al-balushi The original great teacher onizuka is when he started to be a teacher and changed the students lives in the class but gto - paradise lost is when onizuka is in prison and tells stories about when he was a teacher and then goes to the present time with problems in the prison and how he was framed and is innocent and I think the reason why stories are being told is because that builds to the point where he gets framed.(I’m sorry I’m pretty bad at explaining stuff)

It is true that Bad Company is the first timewise but it was done later so the first you should read is Shonan Junai Gumi (Also there is Ino-Head Gargoyle that is a spin off but a great one)
For people on the line about reading this series, the only thing I think you need to do is WATCH THE FIRST OPENING The anime is pretty outdated but the first opening theme for the show captures the vibe of the series perfectly. Not to mention the song "Drivers High - L'arc en Ciel" is a awesome damn song. I even went as far as listening to it while reading!
GTO is indeed a gem. You should read the spin offs! They are still ongoing and still relevant to the main plot. Sometimes the old characters show up but I'm enjoying it so far.
Original GTO is an absolute classic. GTO Last Paradise is great too but the nostalgia in me wishes more of the original characters from original GTO would pop up as well. Prequel I have not read saddly. Lol
The anime looks so old to the point where u question what year it's from. It easily gets thrown out the door by the end of the first episode. This guy tide 3 delinquents and tortured them in a public park at night. That scene had me sold.

Onizuka is goated. If you like books with good dialogue read the novel for monogatari the king of dialogue.
