So true about the zombie apocalypse, the Zeds would be the primary threat for the first few weeks, maybe a month... but once peoples needs like hunger, medical, etc. surpassed their fear, then humans would be the biggest threat to each other hands down.
It’s actually one of the reasons why project Zomboid is a bit easier in the late game because there is no other threat other than the zombies well outside of the helicopter, but that just create a s**t ton of noise at your location if you are spotted by it but it only happens once on the default settings
Its the humans that are looking for an excuse to kill are going to be the biggest threat. look at the world today and all the people threatening each other and talking about shooting others and "Home Defense"

Your take on politics over firearms is literally how I would love people from every country to interact. It's beyond me that the first thing out of most people is some kind of hate. We can have a civil discourse and disagree without fighting too.
Biggest issue in a zombie apocalypse would be disruption to the global supply chain and services. A whole lot of people would be at risk once specialized meds run out, more would be debilitated. To say nothing of the issue of starvation or power disruptions. Rabid people have simply never been a threat, heck, even people are less of a danger than infrastructure damage is.
Listening to the conversation early in the video about owning guns - I think Americans are proud of them because it's part of the culture of keeping the power in the hands of the people and not having to get permission from anyone. It's one of the few things we still have that hasn't been gutted too bad yet.
We just like them and dislike attempts at restricting legal, responsible ownership because of illegal, irresponsible owners. Just make the consequences for gun crimes or illegal ownership 100x what they currently are. No one will complain and it will actually have an impact on gun crimes.
I know this is old, but in a Zombie apocalypse you would for sure want a suppressed .22 and a shotgun like Pest said, but I think the best place to go would be a SAMs club. Take pallets of useless shit and barricade all the doors with it. Maybe leave one receiving door accessible for emergency access only. Cut the ladders going up to the roof so nobody can get to your roof either. You have a lifetime supply of food, generators and fuel. You can run their backup generator and ATS when you need to. Probably even have enough water there to wash with. In a serious breach just block yourself in with pallets and pallet racking. Use all the tires to build a fortress.
The only downside to those marathon tasks is it means you get less time on Ground Zero, which for hardcore is actually an awesome starting point for grinding out those early quests

Here in Canada it's kinda similar with guns. Outside of like southern Ontairo, most people own firearms. In the norther provinces 67% of households have at least one registered gun owner. It's just that no one feels the need to talk about it here.

Compact light-weight and high capacity civilian weapon. Caliber designed to take down armoured targets (Russian paratroopers) If we take ammo scarcity out of the situation it's actually a phenomenal apocalypse weapon, especially with an abundance of subsonic ammunition.
I'd say for most americans, owning a gun will be for home protection/hunting gathering food. the only ones you hear about are the "activists" and gun nuts who put open carry AR videos up to try and flex their knowledge of the laws. Most of us also agree on that aspect being annoying and uncalled for.
The 2nd amendment was not for hunting, it's specifically for tyrannical governments and self preservation. And the "activists" that open carry legally usually have more knowledge on the subject than the police do.

State and Local Laws prohibit certain things, however most of that is Unconstitutional and the Local Law Enforcement does NOT exactly enforce it. Its a grey area. Depends on the state in the US. Some places are so Restrictive you basically dont have rights.
