I have always been a bit cautious when it came to these large water park rides. And this video proves my point. Whenever I go to a water park, I only go on the smaller safer rides and stay away from the big large rides. I had gone down large waterpark slides in the past like in a raft or something and I came out alive and uninjured, but there is a chance I could have been injured and I was just lucky enough not to have been injured at all.

It’s frightening that shoot the rapids was number two. I grew up near Cedar Point and rode it at least 3 times. I had no idea it shut down for that reason.

Whoever created this video needs to do some more research and get their facts straight. The two women did NOT lie about their weight! And there was NOT a 400lbs weight limit. It actually needed to have a minimum weight of 400lbs to insure the safety of riders. The accident was caused by human error in the design of the ride. Look it up. You will find that 2 of the engineers who designed the ride were actually charged in the boys death. The two women played absolutely no part in the cause of the fatal accident.

I used to work as head lifeguard at a sketchy indoor water park... companies give no shits about safety.

Once saw a kid take a dump in his shorts right before going down one of these. Left a brown streak down the entire slide, from beginning to end. That slide must have been 1,000 feet long. Most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.

Verrukt, of Schlitterbahn, in Kansas City, KS, was torn down several years ago. Schlitterbahn was only open for a year after that incident and was permanently closed. The owners of Worlds of Fun/Ocean's of Fun had been in talks to buy it but that all fell through. The land is still for sale and several companies have put in proposals with the city for tearing down the park remnants and redeveloping the land. The latest rumor is for baseball fields. I drive by the old park everyday on I435 to the I70 interchange from Leavenworth. I really liked it when it was open. Never rode Verrukt. i wasn't walking up all of those stairs.

The 3 people were in the weight range needed for that ride, but the 10 year old shouldn't have been in the front seat. The weight distribution was off and the boat still took air.

After getting stuck in a cave as it filled with water and nearly drowning i refuse to be in an enclosed space with water. Haaaaate water slides that are enclosed. I've also gotten stuck in one of the parts where it inclined because i wasnt going fast enough. Had to climb my way out. Will. Never. Go. On. Enclosed. Waterslide.

@@molder2233 naw this was in the wild. Not a park. I found a cave at the beach where you had to crawl on your belly and wiggle your sides since the tunnel was only 3 ft wide about. (so like a 3-4ftx100ftx3-4ft) for about 100ft or so and it opened up to this cool cavern. I was with a group and had largest build. Was inshape but was a few years older then the group so my shoulders had grown. I noticed some semi dried kelp rooted in a rock. Remembered it was lowtide. Told the group to leave immediately. As the one with the largest build i said i should go last just incase i get stuck. On the way out there was these two rocks where they stick out but on the way in they were curved so you could slip past them. So they dug into my shoulders and thats when the water started coming in. Since it was now becoming high tide the cave was getting submerged as the water levels rose. Eventually someone came back for me with rope and the water helped me wiggle through. By the time i reached the part where i could stand it the cave was submerged enough for me to swim out.
This made me claustrophobic of any tight spaces. Especially with water.
@@ODST626 You had mentioned getting stuck on the incline of a water slide, that’s what I was referring to. LOL. Yes, I have no doubt the cave incident was scary as hell and can appreciate that you don’t like enclosed spaces. And I’ll bet you appreciate every day a little more now! 👍
@@molder2233 ah that one. It was during travel as a kid so i don't remember the name. I think it was in palm springs? Basically i was probably too light since i was a kid and likely didn't generate enough speed like you mentioned.

The fact that he could only find 3 slides out of the millions to be built shows just how safe waterslides truly are!
