This month, I took my ten-year-old daughter to see two animated films in theaters. The first was *Moana 2*, a polished, big-budget sequel from one of the major studios. The kids sat silently, and the parents-myself included-were nodding off. It felt like the story was on autopilot, rehashing familiar beats without risk or spark. The second film was *Flow*, a breathtaking production from an independent Latvian studio. The experience couldn’t have been more different. The children in the audience couldn’t sit still-not from boredom but from the sheer emotional energy pouring off the screen. Audible gasps, bursts of laughter, and even some tears filled the theater as kids (and adults) reacted viscerally to what was unfolding before them. Days later, my daughter and I can’t stop talking about *Flow*. It was daring, heartfelt, and utterly unlike anything we’d seen before. I’m certain it will stay with her-and the other kids in the audience-for years to come, shaping the way they think and feel about stories. This stark contrast highlights a growing problem with the major animation studios: they don’t take risks anymore. They recycle ideas and play it safe, ensuring broad commercial appeal but losing the magic that makes animation memorable and transformative. If we want new, exciting experiences that truly connect with audiences, we have to look to independent studios like the one behind *Flow*. They're the ones keeping animation alive, vibrant, and relevant.

They've made it a point so far that they are having all of the characters from the past movie return, which feels like a red flag that the sequel could rely a lot on nostalgia bait. IMO, side characters from the past movie shouldn't be brought back unless they serve THIS story, not the other way around. I'm afraid of this movie being a rehash of the first film that relies on nostalgia bait and doesn't take the characters into bold new territory.
No it's a horrible movie there's no villain there's nothing there to justify their sequel she's supposed to go on an adventure to stop what can you answer that No because there's nothing here that is just like Atlantis 2 when they was trying to do the sequel to Atlantis which was supposed to be a series then they put it together and then people were like what the hell is this That's exactly what Moana 2 is there's no villain there's no threats It is what it is
I aknowledge my tribal Chief Maui!!
