The old generation is luckier than today... it was amazingly beautiful then.. . If only we could go back.. even just a little... thank you for sharing " the good ol' days...
Thankyou for this great comparison! Went to the lido today and had a beer in the pub garden. Seeing footage like this makes me regret not being able to actually swim in it anymore.
It's only They young ones and summer holiday that ever get shown nowadays. Wonderful life made after summer holiday occasionally, but the couple of later ones and the 2 earlier black and white films have almost been forgotten.
This is just how I remember the lido, I was only one when he filmed this but my grandfather was the superintendent of the lido and he always told us what a luvly bloke cliff was and would stay and chat to anyone that wanted to chat to him x
Hi Sue. That's a nice little memory. I was also one at the time of filming but this film remains one of my faves. The trees have obviously grown a fair bit and the sand has receded. It's a lot more boggy on the spot where they filmed the song ending now. Still, it was good to visit the place.
Lovely to see this. Always one of my favourite movies scenes and an important part of British pop history. I don't think Cliff gets the credit he deserves in the UK that seem to think pop music started with the Beatles. It didn't.
He was born & raised in Bombay, India - Went to the UK & got famous. He's a Bombay Boy originally - We took so much pride in that when his songs would come on the radio back then. Today I'm here in the US watching this video on my pc.
Hi Vince..I remember 61, when I would have been 7. Never been the leido but the images and scenes are reminiscent of the parks and prom in Liverpool back then the atmosphere. I,d go back now.. cheers.
A time when life was simple and full of hope for the future We have such a lot of division and hate Where did it all go so wrong who is to blame for a selfish society we have created and a world not far behind
Where did we go wrong in life. Seeing stuff like this makes me sad that my kids will never experience the wonderful times we had.
We of that great generation will forever be "The Young Ones." A 💎 gem.

I was there on the day this was filmed, somewhere in the background where they walk through the trees.

Az első dal Clifftolazota is imádom
I love so much❤
To think, all the kids in this clip are all pensioners now. Only Cliff himself is still the young one. Amazing.
and Hank….Jet and Tony , RIP.
Such a shame that the BBC and South Yorkshire Police virtually destroyed his career and nearly hounded him to death by unlawfully raiding his home.
The BBC and the Police are as corrupt as...

MEMORIES !
was one of the children
I was born in 1958 nearby and vaguely remember seeing the film at the cinema around 1965-ish. I’m so glad I’m not one of the young ones now.
Ruislip Lido has changed since this film was made.
It sure has, Bridie, but some areas are still recognisable.
Not all changes are for the better. The 61 version is preferable.
Gone forever, never to return.
Ok am I the only one that can see a similarity between cliff and Ronald’s
Just look at that dress..
やっぱりクリフリチャードはカッコいい!
❤
So sad. Why?
Her hairdo looks like Helen Shapiro!
When this was filmed Helen Shapiro was the biggest female singing star in the UK, so I'd imagine it was a very popular style to copy
