I have family and friends in Poland. Before the speech, they simply repeated what the American press was saying about Trump. After the speech, every Pole I know in Poland was cheering Trump and hoped for him the best.

I remember where I was! I scrambled to get to the Ratusz Arsenal metro station and walked quickly to the Old Town (there is a direct tram, one stop from there to the Old Town but the trams were either not running because of the speech or walking was faster than waiting and then taking the tram) and as I got closer to the Old Town, I heard President Trump's speech and I saw more and more Polish and American Flags. I remember feeling awe-inspired when he stated that Polish people said three words: "we want God". I remember thinking "we want God. God bless America". His speech was about 40 minutes long and he made more sense in those 40 minutes than Barack Obama ever did during his presidency. I then thought "American president in Warsaw? I want American food for lunch!" I went to KFC where I found out many people had the same idea as me. I then went home and found out that I had failed my final exams but can still say that I saw President Trump and I heard him giving a speech. God bless America! Niech zyje Polska!

I love this guy, but I really don't get his endgame by antagonizing Russia here, *especially* before the G20 summit when Putin's cooperation against the Daesh and North Korea is crucial, those problems would be over in a heartbeat if we worked together. My theory? He's probably trying to get the raving idiots here to shut the fuck up about their endless autistic screeching that he's tied to Russia. Not the best way if it's at the expense of diplomacy. Like his tweets, he needs to pick his words a little more carefully.
And Syria is nowhere near our problem. We seem to keep forgetting that Syria is in a part of the world where people there think very differently to how we do. People don't want to admit it, but Muslims have a predatory mindset, if you show you have power, they'll respect that. Most gestures we'd view as peaceful, would be perceived as a sign of weakness to them, and as it goes, give them an inch, they'll take a mile. Saddam and Qaddafi were absolute twats to their people, and made a past time out of shit-talking us, Assad is no different. But they had order in their borders, and did everything they could to stomp out anyone who'd upset it. Russia just happens to be supporting that order, and it matters to them who the hell is in power, because Syria's not that far from Russia. We have to realize sooner or later there's a pattern in us helping a group of "moderates" topple a dictator, and having them turn around years later and snap at our hands.
I love this country, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else, but our pension for dwindling common sense and an inability to learn from our flubs and blunders is really tiresome.
