Glad to see it’s been a good honest purchase! There are good honest cars out there that have been well looked after, the difficulty it finding these. I’d probably say best place to find is enthusiast groups where there has been an active member who has been willing to spend with receipts and history.
My 07 QP is with Ash at the moment and genuinely he is brilliant. I went down to have a look under the car and was refreshing to get an honest, detailed account of what it needs (nothing disastrous thankfully) so glad its in safe hands. Brilliant content 🙌💪
My Dad used to wear shorts like that in the 80’s. I’m only commenting on the shorts because from the other comments they seem like quite the hit! Love the channel
Great vid. A PPI is sooooo important on these cars. As you mentioned, they are great cars but there is potential for some hefty bills. Looks like Ian scored with this one!
Solid advice. The annual cost of keeping one of these in top shape, has pointed me toward other choices. Lovely to look at, not for me who loves no drama auto's.
Must be something about the name Ian but your mate has my dream garage! A blue 3200gt and an 09 Quattroporte 4.7 facelift! What an awesome guy with an awesome name and an awesome 2 car garage!
Hi there thats my old car! Owned it until 2021 - got scared by potential bills so let it go. Started to hear some cam variator rattle and couldnt face the 5k needed to fix it. Has this been done now?
I did an AA inspection on my R class. All clear, bar a ‘small oil leak’ which was of little concern. On my drive home the drive train vibrated pretty badly, the oil leak turned out to be a rear diff which would have required an engine removal and a suspension leak which when it failed cost me £1200. Rather than repair it I did 35000 miles in 18 months and loved every moment of it. Bar when a suspension airbag exploded in France. The value of the inspection was zero. No idea how he missed all the faults. Or underestimated the issue with the oil leak. No guarantees I guess!
Great video, was nice to see what they check in a PPI. My Granturismo was of the price and place that I had to leap with just a quick glance over. I was rather worried the first few days! Since then I have done a lot of bits and pieces and been very surprised at her good condition. I suspect that the relatively high mileage of 125k kept rust at bay as the subframe is original and in very good condition with no under seal (although a minor oil leak is helping protect it). Anyway I feel these cars are actually pretty reliable, but yes a good check pre purchase is a very good idea. Too easy and expensive to get it wrong. I need a four wheel alignment so will give Exotic a call.
Hi there! I found your channel becouse of older Audi A8 video and I´m so glad I found it! As my wife don´t really want to let me have fun car I´m looking for something exactly as that A8! But I was thinking have you tried Jaguar XJ351? As I can´t really decide between those 2. Oh and I think you may like Ford Flex as huge family car but I´m not sure how it´s available in UK as here in Slovakia there is only like 1 or 2 for sale. Great channel and keep going!
@@dadcars Ash sorted out my 2014 Granturismo ……his knowledge , experience and expertise is epic. I thought SItalia had gone ,so Great news they are back in the game. Love your Channel , brilliant stuff. 👍🇨🇮
Having had literally hundreds of cars in my time I’ve never ever done a PPI however……with the newer type Maseratis - the QP, GT etc a £250 inspection will be the cheapest bill you’ll ever have on one of these. I wouldn’t buy another without one purely because the parts alone are just so expensive
From a maintenance perspective How does the Maser compare to the equivalent Jag,Merc,BM big power N/A sports sedan? I mean buying a Quatrroporte for £15K and then potentially dropping another £10K to nake it right sounds scary but it's all relative.
That's bonkers. I've spent this week trawling the ads looking at these. Always wanted one, but diving into owners forums the bills are just tooooo big. £1k wheel bearing part only....I'm out.
You need to go into it eyes open for sure… that’s why I make these videos! But for those who are willing and able, there’s nothing quite like a Maserati with this NA V8 🥹
@@dadcars They are so tempting. The looks, the interior, the engine, the noise, the price to purchase... One day I may well bow to the temptation. Even if it was just for a year to say I've done it.
DO NOT buy Euro cars without a pre purchase inspection unless you are stupid and have money to burn. The quality of some components might be questionable but it's the neglect of owners that ruins these cars and gives the brand a bad reputation. This man Ian was lucky in this instance. Look, they lay down tons of salt on the roads in winter and it's going to be flung up and about all over the underpinnings doing serious damage, who wants that? @8:13, is that a piece of wire twisted over the tie rod boot end or do I need to go to specsavers?? No shorts please and that applies to Doug Demuro to.
The trouble is if you get one that is older and has high mileage so only worth £5k then have to replace both subframes and sort the gearbox clutch you're looking at £8-10k at least and the car is only worth £5k still (£8-10k lost). Or you could spend £15-20k get a PPI and find a good example that only needs £1k/yr in maintenance and is worth more or less what you paid for it (£1k lost).
I have a suspicion that Ben, Geoff buys cars and and Nino from Not economically Viable are one and the same person...ask yourself, have you ever seen them in the same room at the same time?
