So impressive! Being in tech writing for devs for a long now, I can relate so much to his honest opinions and experiences.
Especially when he says, "Don't take feedback personally." This happens with most tech writers in the initial part of their careers. I often faced it with writers when I started editing some 10 years back. Even I was unaware of the exact reasoning to justify some edits then. It used to be a gut feeling.
Thankfully, you learn and grow with time. Thank you, Yvess, for your insights, and thank you, Josh, for bringing such resources!

I appreciate this interview! I pivoted careers last year, and work as a Technical Writer as a result, which I enjoy. Not long after, I earned my Scrum Master I certification.
It would make sense for me to learn API documentation in order to sharpen my skills and work in an agile environment, although I am not sure that I would necessarily ‘enjoy’ API documentation. I will try it out though! The worst that could happen is I learn a new skill.
I look forward to landing a rewarding role as a Scrum Master but will definitely engage in ‘continuing education’ in the meantime! Bonus that I’ll be able to leverage my knowledge for greater earning opportunities. Thank you again for being such a great resource- I just came across your content!

Is it possible to become an independent government contractor in a Technical Writing career path?

Hey Alexia, yes that's possible. I'm not familiar with any job position openings but im sure you can find someone via online job portals.
