    Joy, I am so happy that I found your page! You are so sweet, honest and inspiring. I’m in the consultation phase, but I am definitely ready to join the journey!

      Hey LaShawnda! I'm glad you found my page too and thank you for your kind words! Having Sisterlocks is really a life changing experience and they really only get better with time. I've been vlogging my Sisterlocks on this TH-cam channel ever since my installation. All of my Sisterlocks videos are in my Sisterlocks Playlist and I hope they will be helpful for you as you make your initial decisions. Take care.

    Thanks for this. I’m going for my initial consultation for Sisterlocks on Friday. I’m excited but also apprehensive because I have short natural hair right now. I’m growing out a short fade cut from last summer. I keep watching your videos to give me inspiration since your hair started off about my current length. I appreciate you. Be blessed sis 💜

    I appreciate your transparency. I am considering locs and worry about the “wait” as the locs mature. I don’t want to look in the mirror and not feel beautiful or think “what have you done”. Thank you

    • @JoyMorrisBeauty
      @JoyMorrisBeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ❤️. Yes it's definitely an adjustment. I wore weaves for many years and I got used to a lot of immediate gratification with my hairstyles. Locs are the opposite of that. You have to have a lot of patience but the good thing is that they only get better and better over time. Thanks for your comment. ✨

    I love your locs, i get my install in February 2022, and I have had gray since high school, i have colored my hair many times, it continues to come through, i have vowed at this point to let it do what its going to do, im just going to embrace the gray hair because its me I want to see what its going to look like fully grayed out. Your hair is gorgeous !

      Congratulations on your upcoming install! Your story is interesting. I have never colored my hair with the attempt of coloring my gray, but I can imagine that happening to me too. The gray strands become more prominent as my hair grows and now it appears as though I have about 12 locs grouped together in my scalp area that will all have gray locs. Thanks for your comment as well as your compliment!

    Love your honesty in this video and your hair looks great-thank you. I feel you on the greys and just trying to be patient with the process. I am just about 2 months locked and my grey hair is just unruly can’t wait to color it!! I love my SL but it is a big adjustment that I am still trying to get used to.

    Love your hair... Henna will work by strengthening and covering your grey hair better than any color will they have various shades of Henna that you can try and you do henna every 4 weeks. Yet mine has lasted at least 6 weeks before I see grays return so everytime I get a retightening about seven to eight weeks I may use henna.

    • @JoyMorrisBeauty

    My Sisterlocks, like yours, has grown really fast. I am a #newsubscriber who is also documenting my journey on TH-cam. I always colored my hair to cover my gray, however after 2 years with Sisterlocks, I have not colored the gray. I enjoyed the video.

    Thanks for being so honest. I recall having similar feelings. I’m sure that you are through that battle. I’m over it now given I’ve been wear my hair short for a minute. I’m now contemplating getting locs.., maybe sister locs.

    • @JoyMorrisBeauty
      @JoyMorrisBeauty  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! It's no problem at all. I wanted to be honest because I knew I couldn't be the only one feeling that way. I have had a lot of growth since then and I don't have the same thoughts, but they surely felt overwhelming in my 3rd month. That's good that you are wearing your hair short so that you will be used to short hair if you decide to loc your hair. Sisterlocks can be a great option, especially if you want to have someone else take care of the retightenings.

      I totally understand how you feel. In a perfect world I would have waited until I had more hair, but I didn't want to waste anymore time. Told myself that I'd just have to adjust to it being short for a while. Also, some people wear wigs in the beginning part of their journey until it grows out. My head is too big for wigs 😂 but that seems like a good solution too.

    Your hair looks great! I definitely see the growth! That is exciting! I am two weeks in and I am waiting for some growth as well. I also have hair that is shorter in the front so I really have just been flat twisting and pinning my hair up for the time being. It is definitely an adjustment. Hi Kimberly, I don't know of anyone in that area, but you can go to the official Sisterlocks website to search for a consultant in your area. I also recommend checking to see if they have a portfolio on social media so you can make sure you like their work. Good luck!

    Sooo I’m new to this journey, I went for my consultation today and I was quoted $1600 for my locs. She’s qualified and on SL website . My hair is 3.5 inches with high density. It’s 4c type hair. Is this the right amount to pay for SLs ? I’m in Concord California

    • @JoyMorrisBeauty
      @JoyMorrisBeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mariam. The price can depend on a lot of factors including your area, loctician's experience level, and the number of sisterlock locticians nearby. I'd suggest asking a couple of other locticians near you for pricing. I'm sure probably a couple will not mind giving you a basic price quote without having to go on a consultation.
      When I was searching, several locticians told me that they have a minimum amount of inches that they prefer to work with, due to really short locks being more prone to slippage and a little more difficult to establish, from what I was told. I wonder if that could have factored into your price quote. That's another thing to think about.
