    I've been piking for years and I never new about the swivel on the wire getting scuffed and potentially cutting through the line. makes perfect sense now you have explained it. liked and subscribed. Thanks mate

    Brilliant video mate. I’m a carp man myself but my father has insisted I get into pike/zander fishing so this winter I’m going to give it a good go. I hate paying for pre made rigs and traces so now I’ve watched you video I’ll be going to get everything I need and have a bash at making my own as if the trace does fail it’s only me to blame and I’m sure making them yourself is a far lot better than a machine made one. Once again great video.

    Well explained, I’m going to try and make a video trace making. Never worked out why people put a swivel on a trace? I just have a loop with swivel on my braid👍

    shrink tube does a better and neater job than a sleeve

    • @LondonPredatorAngler
      @LondonPredatorAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it does, I like using shrink tubing, but using sleeves is convenient and it what I had in my tackle box at the time, most trace makers use sleeves... but yes I do like the neat finish shrink tubing does...

    Have you heard of the lasso pike rig?
    If so do you no how to tie one.
    Someone told me about it, he caught 5 pike that day with it but im not sure how to tie it.

    • @LondonPredatorAngler
      @LondonPredatorAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes I do, it is something I have used in the past, I might make a video on that soon, I made this 5 years ago for begainners to trace making, but I might revisit it again and make a few traces for Piking in a new video!

    What is the distance between the trebles please ?

    • @LondonPredatorAngler
      @LondonPredatorAngler  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      any distance depending on what size bait you are planning too use, I don't like the top treble to go beyond 2/3 or 1/2 down the body of the bait, I find the closer the trebles are together the less chance I have of deep hooking a pike, that being said, I do step up size of hooks again depending on bait size and I like to hit my runs early, even if it means I drop a few fish on the take! watch my video on rigging and hooking dead and live baits on this channel

    @Rob-zq8sy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great explanation but one point why bother putting a coloured sleeve on the swivel end you dont want the pike to target that!

    • @LondonPredatorAngler
      @LondonPredatorAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rob your compeyely right. I just do it to keep it uniform. OCD i guess lol

      @@finlayheatlie5087 I will make more in future! but to be honest there isn't too many types of pike traces u will need, only different types of hooks and hooking patterns! not like carp rigs!

    You waste a lot of wire making your traces , also you are crimping the swivel and end too tight to the crimp

    • @LondonPredatorAngler
      @LondonPredatorAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Woolner i tespect ur opinion. But the wire doesnt get wasted it will be used on my other rigs like pop up ledger traces etc... and i have never in 20 years of making my own traces haf one fail on me cos how i crimp it. Bit thanks for ur comment :)
