This girl has got a smile
that can make me cry
this girl just burns with love
she's burning burning deep inside
night time night time
sets my house on fire
i'll turn into the melting man
i'll lose my life
to feel i feel desire
oh i should feel
like a polar bear...
it's impossible
she flies outside this cage
singing girlmad words
i keep her dark thoughts deep inside
as black as stone
and mad as birds
wild wild wild
and never turn away
sends me all her love
she sends me everything
she sends me everywhere
oh i could be
a polar bear...
but it's impossible
i try to talk
the sky goes red
i forget
so fill in my head
with some of this
some of that
some of every word she says
oh i should be
a polar bear...
but it's impossible
This is one of the most beautiful songs by The Cure.
Flangy guitars & nice basswork, Elated, happy and yet bittersweet. One of the few Cure songs i can listen to on a nice summer day. :)
Not a fan of "Last Day of Summer"? Ha ha ha.
Cl4rendon my fav vocal
Ive always thought of Kiss Me x3 as being a "summery" album
Cure all year round for me.
I can listen to any The Cure song on a nice hot summer day...
Who’s listening in 2024?
me!!!!! CURE FOREVERRRRRRRR
J'ai 50 ans et j'aime The Cure depuis mes 16 ans.. Cette chanson est superbe, indémodable 😆
This one and Piggy in the Mirror are my favorites from The Top!
Snap!
WHAT A SONG!! light, crazy, but melancholic at the same time....pure genius
Caught my wife listening to this when I was sleep. She only knows about this because it's in my history on TH-cam. She likes the cure too but she only knows about them because of me. We've been together since 1989. It woke me up but with a pleasant awakening😊😊😊
all the world´s love to Robert Smith...
the beginning guitar has something that makes me feel very good
That is the secret of music and I do agree this music is superb
BlackStormPAIN me too!
The cure si magic!! feels so good!..
A priceless piece of pure poetry. Dedicated, from the bottom of my heart, to the one birdmad girl of my life. I know you are.
The Top is a place where nobody goes...you just imagine it all!!!
fave song since i was 11
How can you be so great? The song is so good.
Good taste sir
Really weird finally going through this album! Good stuff. I had The Walk ep in '83 and Head on the Door in '85. Heard most stuff from mid 80's on but this one got lost.
pretty much a solo album, he tried hard to kill the band with this.
My Fav Cure Song From The Top Album.
Albert MUFC my fav album of theirs
I adore this song! "The Cure" are like an artist with a magical sensory wand painting these songs for our eyes and our ears..only Roberts poetry can be so deep...🎉💋👁💕
The best of The Top

Unruly boys
Who will not grow up
Must be taken in hand

Man, the 80's were the best.

I love the artwork from this album - great job getting these together for the video.
This girl has got a smile
That can make me cry

She's burning burning deep outside🖤
Are you too 😊?

Magnifique morceau, issu d'un album peu commun...merci pour ces souvenirs qui seront remontés :)

Who's here in 2024❤
Me! I absolutely love this song.
Me ❤
C l'album qui me manquait, dramatique, puissant, lumineux, triste.
Great tracvk from "The topo" album...
I'm listening in 2020 & will listen to Robert forever until I die
Robert has a new song out with the Gorillaz... ;)
i like this..i love this...it's cute..it has a cute little beat.. and the vocals of course could only be the Cure..They come up with the coolest songs.. or whoever wrote it! i like it!
The Top was pretty much a solo album by Robert Smith. Laurence Tolhurst sat in on a few sessions for company.
@@speleokeir "don't forget Andy Anderson on drums!!" I say 3 years later
@@DingusDoofer and Porl played a bit of Saxaphone. But yeah - 99% of what you hear is Robert and Andy.
this song guitar and bass work always reminded me on The Smiths - Barbarism Begins at Home
The Cure puts the Smiths to shame!!!
@@Thagy1973 - it isn't a competition. They're both incredible. Just enjoy the music.
LOL YOURE RIGHT 😮
Best song on the album
Besides Bananafishbones of course
My mind is blowing up so far away
Enjoying this music 14/02/2020
Inspired by Dylan Thomas’s ‘Love in the Asylum’. Polar Bear is slang for bi-polar.
thanks for the info
Robert Smith diz que o álbum The Top só produziu 1 single: The Caterpillar...mas se essa música não é single, o que seria?
beautiful memories
One of my all time favorite songs ever.I want it in an instrumental only too.
My personal favorite
its a beautiful song
A stranger has come
To share my room in the house not right in the head,
A girl mad as birds
Bolting the night of the door with her arm her plume.
Strait in the mazed bed
She deludes the heaven-proof house with entering clouds
Yet she deludes with walking the nightmarish room,
At large as the dead,
Or rides the imagined oceans of the male wards.
She has come possessed
Who admits the delusive light through the bouncing wall,
Possessed by the skies
She sleeps in the narrow trough yet she walks the dust
Yet raves at her will
On the madhouse boards worn thin by my walking tears.
And taken by light in her arms at long and dear last
I may without fail
Suffer the first vision that set fire to the stars.
the highest form of flattery....... STEALING
I love this song
Never heard this song before. It is good.
S2!!!
Who's listening in 2019?
Me ! From Brasil !!!! Kisses for you
Me
Oh...would it be just me...ever and for ever :)
Yes.. severely underrated record from them..
I am - how times have changed. I believe you can buy polar bear suits these days
A Fond ! Merci jewelsky2012 !
as mad as birds
It's my lost loves song. X
2023
Perfect!.
Gives me smiles
guauuuuuuuuuuu,
cure eres mi cura !!!!
So dope!
Goddamn the cure are versatile
Yeah they are. I love how you can watch a bunch of their videos and Lol Tolhurt at one point is their drummer, another point keyboardist, another point horn player. Robert started out as just the guitar player in their earlier incarnation. He never planned on singing, then the singer left, so he took over. Robert's under-rated as a guitar player too. Just finished listening to "The Blood", a pretty different feel from any of their other songs.
@@BayviewFinch Lol never really played trumpet. Those were keyboards on all those Kiss Me songs.
@@HerveBoisde Andrew Brennen - saxophone on "Icing Sugar" and "Hey You!!!" ; Porl Thompson - guitar, keyboards, saxophone
@@BayviewFinch technically he started out on piano in the earliest incarnation of what would become the cure. His older sister was much better at piano so he thought he could never outshine her with piano. That's why he picked up guitar
La chanson est magnifique, comme l'album, the top est très varié, des sons, des styles grandiose
The TOP is the place, where nobody goes.
You just imagine it
Me, now. April 2023 🖤
Robert Smith, j’aime tant ta voix!
for me, "in between days" it´s a kickass of all songs of "the cure" :)
Anyone else notice the lyrical resemblance to "Burn" (later featured on the soundtrack to The Crow)?
No
Many hate The Top. I hate many so I love The Top.
O mundo para por um momento
It's oe of my fav Cure's songs... anybody pls tell me how 6 plp don't like it
Là je voyage 😊😎
Only Bob and Andy did this. Andy told me.
Sounds probable
but it's impossible
definitive cure

Who's listening on October 2023?
Clara influencia para Final caja negra de Soda stereo
Nice nice nice
Who made those artworks in the 80s?? Anyone knows??
Porl Thompson, the guitar player.
@@b0nemachine who.. ironically didn't play guitar on this album. :) But yeah, you are absolutely correct - Porl worked under the name Parched Art with Andy Vela and did most of the artwork for the Cure albums.
🖤
The "girl" with the smile was Siouxsie.
Alex Leah how do you know that?
It waa mary duh
Naaahhh.. Definatley his wife Mary - He wrote alot of songs about her and they`re beautiful.
No, Robert Smith couldn't stand Siouxsie. She was mean to him a lot.
somebody had a terrible dream inside there mind and needs to get it out...
Like a polar bear.....
Цой?

2023, sorry
did I say beautiful?
What Bird mad girl means?
she's flies outside this cage singing girl mad words.
He was doing a lot of LSD during this album - it could mean anything.
This song should have a guitar solo
clarinet
Bananafishbones levellllllll
My paddy Eve
I don,t understand, this récord got good song, like this, but reallyment is irregular, 6/10,
Me
written by OPEC drin
Why is the girl burning? Is it a kind of example?
It's a metaphor, not literal.
One of the last awesome song they made !

Made for Lynn Lee
sounds like The Smiths - Barbarism Begins at Home
yes, seems The Smiths were inspired by this song to write the song you mention
Unruly boys
Who will not grow up
Must be taken in hand
Unruly girls
Who will not settle down
They must be taken in hand :) that's true :)
actually I got here from barbarism begins at home, where someone commented it sounded just like this one.
anom pard I would say it's the other way around. The Top was released nearly a year before Meat Is Murder.
anom pard i dont think so just my opinion
Underrated song
Underrated album. Robert was criticized for being high on drugs during the making of the album and distracted with other projects (Siouxsie & the Banshees) but I think the Top is a super creative and diverse record and stands up to the test of time really well .
@@HerveBoisde no kidding. Love the top. Especially this song.
@@HerveBoisde it's a very diverse and experimental record. It's far from their best but has moments of brilliance such as this track and the caterpillar ❤
No, dummy, it's not.
