I'm 57 and have been lucky enough to have met Mr Gibbons:::: you NEVER NEVER forget a day like that:: The Exxon station on 61st street in Galveston in the early 80s::: I have played guitar for 35 yrs::: Those 3 are the GREATEST entertainers of ALL TIME!!!!
Hey that is going to where The Balinese used to stand on Seawall Blvd.I took photos of it before Hurricane Ike dropped it in the Gulf of Mexico. I was down there taking photos of where my Great-grandfather's brother came ashore in Jan.1st,1863 and whipped the yankee invaders and took back Galveston Island. I had a few more exposures on my camera,so l rolled down to the Balinese and used up the roll. I hope l still have the negatives, to blow up a shot, and frame it. First time I saw ZZ was in Dallas before this show. Dec.27th,1981,a cold ass day. They played 2 shows that night. The following day Billy Bob's in Foat Wurth.El Loco was a killer show.No opening act.
Of course when talking about ZZTOP, lights focus on Billy Reverend Gibbons. But look at the importance of Dusty Hill vocals. He was such a good singer. I don't know how they will manage to sing his parts now that he is gone.
When I was in Jr high school in the 70`s at Blck Jr. high Houston Texas. There was this PE teacher named Coach Emet. He said he was the manager for ZZ Top.
I saw them live the same year as this show. They were absolutely amazing that show. Saw them again a few years back but no where as good as back in the day. They still rocked but no where near the energy level as in 1982. RIP Dusty! 😢 Welcome aboard Elwood 👍
Wow, uploads like this make me thankful for TH-cam to be around. ZZ Men on top of their game. Those days there was this sharpness, electricity on the way they played. Thats great to watch.
I was at Pinkpop that year, first time I saw ZZ Top, great concert, hot weather, also that day Y&T also great and Kid Creole and The Coconuts and Mink Deville (RIP).
functional You got that right BRO... I'm like you, can't sit still!!! It's crazy but when I get to that level, I usually tell girlfriends, brothers, sons, whoever; if I bother you get up and GROOVE with me or move to the side... ROCK ON
I went to see them every time they came to North Carolina. I thought they were going to blow the doors off the park center in Charlotte one night. We were cruising, we left the farm!
That's awesome there's like 10 year olds walking around guys that are trying to make the fire... back then man it was a different life it was more free.
I've been there. They were fantastic! Even my kids like them (their favorite is la Grange). This is something different than Juistin Bieber at the next line up for Pink Pop. The world has changed indeed. Thank you for sharing some great rock music.
I really enjoy at least 85-90% of their songs. Someday I must sit down and count to see just how many there are... Got Me Under Pressure, TV Dinners, Lowdown In the Street et. al. Enjoy
all these years later that good energy still comes across loud 'n clear like watching a storm on the wide desert late night.... damn but they sure is a fine finer finest outfit thats stood the ravaging tests of time... thanks for uploading greetings from tasmania
This is a dang good live video ! Not too perfect....not too crappy. Just right. I can feel some of that Fandango vibe coming off the screen and through my speakers....
i don't think so because iron maiden is stil rocking the planet and bruce is king because he still jumps the stage like a 25 year old, and i don;t see slade do the same.
Fuck Iron Maiden, they're overrated and too annoying for my taste! Not very original either. There was more heavier NWOBHM bands out at that time that kicked more ass than Maiden. But Maiden is heavy metal not hard rock n roll/blues like ZZ Top, so that's a different subject! Zz Top still kicks ass and tour these days too
+Kim Cornell I was thinking pretty much the same thing as I watched. This is even b 4 Eliminator shot them to a whole different level & fan-base (not exactly my favorite period 4 them, just my opinion). Anyways, I'm thinkin' Frank has got 1 monster-ass kit there. lol Jeez.....as u say, he's never been short when it comes to drums. :) Saw them on this tour....."El-Locomotion" Tour, I think it was. That was the 4th & last time I saw them live. Seeing them here, easy to recall what a kick-ass live Band they were. Still great....just love seeing Billy jumping around so animated + ROCKING OUT! Thanks.
Yes,.....over 4 he just gives them a look once in a while and thinks"them sho is sparkly n purty"! He just bangs around on two tom's, the right base, and gives that snare hell. Gets by with two cymbals most of the time also. The extras are "spares"
Pinkpop is short for Pink(steren) Pop, Dutch for Pentecost Pop. A yearly festival originating in 1970, orginally in the town of Geleen, later in Landgraaf. Much more footage of other top acts are available on TH-cam.
stfu they innovated not "commercialized"... I despise you people...geez I am getting addresses and paying all of yall a visit...I am going on tour to eliminate the haters.
They sure make it look easy don't they. I just saw them again on Sep. 10 and I promise you, they still deliver!!!!! You folks should check another rocking trio from Texas; LOS LONELY BOYS
Thank you fellas, seen you 7 times... Well actually only 5, passed out at the Cow Palace during one show and the other was having "womens" problems and had to leave the arena before she got my ass arrested, lol... So yeah 5 times, loved them ALL... Miss you already Dusty - Godspeed my friend, is this Heaven Hell or Houston?! Keep on shuffling... Peace, Love and Texas forever and ALWAYS!

Good to see how everybody was slim and trimmed those days,,,,
Dusty's vocals were never appreciated.!!!!! Dusty sang several of their songs......love you buddy..bass player to bass player.....much love.!!!..rip.
Never apreciated by who? By you? Speak for yourself....
Dusty was one powerful tenor!!!!!!!😮😮😮😮
Dusty had that traditional 70s rock voice. They were great songs by his voice didn't stand out from the crowd Billy's did
Rest in Heaven Dusty!

Billy :D
IMO, Frank is one of the most Underrated drummers in rock. Always solid, never over plays, but can if he wants to. :D Heard it on the X
Frank is always solid. Keeps the groove grooving!!!!
Took my 11 year old daughter to her first concert last summer. Of course it had to be that little old band from Texas.
Dusty's bass is absolutely gorgeous. I'd love one.
I seriously think ZZ Top could play Pinkpop today, and make every single act that had to follow them be VERY nervous.
They could.
I think the same.
Doubt it. They cancel more shows than they play.
I think that they should be top of the bill if they would return to Pinkpop.
YES !! Real nervous 🤣😎
Billy's riff's are just incredible
@@jimr5793 Billy as in Billy Gibbons riffs as in the way he plays guitar
I've always loved this band. One of the greatest in the world.
ZZ Top, show us musicians that a trio is still the best. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙉🙊🙈😎😺🎸😶🌫️
They are hilarious to watch. They had so much energy back in the day, we all did I guess LOL

God Bless Texas and ZZ Top. If your feet ain't a tappin' you ain't a livin'
Devil's music, no?
Crying and goose bumped, These were best day's. Missing Dusty!
Lots of bands play boogie, but ZZ Top OWNS it!
The only band that lived for driving the music instead of waiting on a bus. RIP Dusty Hill.
FKN A

They are 40 years older, nobody will have this much energy after 40 years, LOL.
Wow, uploads like this make me thankful for TH-cam to be around. ZZ Men on top of their game. Those days there was this sharpness, electricity on the way they played. Thats great to watch.
It's amazing how good they were. They were astounding.
if this video had 1 billion views. the world would be a much better place. such a great video.
Best Concert on TH-cam! Great to see ZZ Top play in broad daylight!
I was at Pinkpop that year, first time I saw ZZ Top, great concert, hot weather, also that day Y&T also great and Kid Creole and The Coconuts and Mink Deville (RIP).
Fuckin A+!!! Damn I'm proud to be from Texas....home of the best fucking rocknrollers on Earth! Awesome set!
Have mercy! I'm just waiting on the bus
To Texas that is you're fine!
if you ain't figured out...ZZ at the Top are the coolest muther trio ever to sling a polyriff...never a shortage of groove...I can't sit still...
functional You got that right BRO... I'm like you, can't sit still!!! It's crazy but when I get to that level, I usually tell girlfriends, brothers, sons, whoever; if I bother you get up and GROOVE with me or move to the side... ROCK ON
amen
Double trouble w.srv, before wynans on organ. Certainly would have gave them a "run for their money"
I also like Budgie and early 70s Trapeze. Honorable mention to Rush and ELP. All great 3 piece bands in addition to ZZ
@@SwampyMusic ~ ZZ TOP and SRV....all Texas boys, so it's all good.

Saw them this weekend. They still kick ass.
That's awesome there's like 10 year olds walking around guys that are trying to make the fire... back then man it was a different life it was more free.
Man the boys had so much energy still. They lost that crazy young energy not too many years later. Rip Dusty.

Thank you for sharing this video, I can see your eyes without glasses, and see the expression in Dusty's eyes, adorable.
Saw them in Berlin in June 2019.... they are like a good wine... still full of coolness and spirit
Asozialer langbärtiger Blues Rock 🤘 😅
Thank you for this Video!

Always loved the way Billy rips through the intro when they do this one live.
Рок 🎸 навсегда память на века всем ушедшим рокерам рок 🎸 рольщикам рокершам
I wish ZZ Top continued that "eccentric" style they had for a while.
never got to see these guys live... I was born too late :( RIP DUSTY!!!
Che forti gli zz top,Bill e Dusty sono forti,mi spiace che Dusty ha lasciato questo mondo era un bravo bassista🎸r.i.p 🙏🌹

Billy Gibbons Greatest Guitarman ever! Genius Playing, Never boring!!

Good real rock guys, wow. Thanks Eddy Doolittle. It was difficult to find a good video of these great guys, and you did it. Thanks man, it was great
Drumulater1 alles okay
Always jamming tunes with ZZTOP

are y'all having a joke? mentioning Iron Maiden and Slade on a ZZ Top live vid? Learn a thing or two about music, and get back in a couple years.
+macca63 Obviously, you've never seen Queen with Thin Lizzy opening.
Thanks for sharing this. Absolutely excellent!!
I love to see Billy using the correct guitar.
Best boogie woogie band ever. The rev, wow such a low slung guitar. The coolest
outstanding, the best rnr band ever

Tres Hombre's was my first taste back in the day. first mexican food i'd ever seen as a 15yr old kid. both equally satisfying...
The good stuff before the electronic synthesizer mtv commercialization
stfu they innovated not "commercialized"... I despise you people...geez I am getting addresses and paying all of yall a visit...I am going on tour to eliminate the haters.
J.T. Bomar they commercialized
lol synthesizers are from the late 70s. even still acid rock was getting synth like sounds since 60s
That's just your opinion
have you even heard eliminator or afterburner?

great live band.
every comment on YT music:
"blah blah...is the most underrated blah blah blah ever..."
And
"R.I.P blah blah we miss you bro"
Intimate stage, no shades... they look so human ;-)
great vid. did not even know they played pinkpop!
Thanks for the upload - not seen this before.
This is Pink Pop in The Netherlands. The oldest pop festival in the world, to date.
@@henkdegraaf1609 Nevertheless, I personally had not seen this clip before.

Super super stardom only a few months away when Eliminator comes out in March.
Fantastic. ‘Clean cut Texans’ 😅👍🏻🏴🇬🇧
Party on the Patio is one of my all time favorite ZZ songs. Saw them do it in Austin around 74 - 75(?) without the beards when I was in the service.
Jim Mzik that song came out in ‘81
Never got to see them back then....Billy looks like he's on speed, compared to his stage presence these days.
This was 39 years ago now, that time will take a bit out of you.
Billllyyyyyy .... you're killing it / me .... unbelievable
INCREDIBLY GOOD
Right on..my bearded brotherman👍💯💓
