My biggest dream is to publish a novel. I'm notorious for starting a story and stopping not even half way through. This is a great insight into your process and it's so inspiring! It makes me want to crack open a document and revisit one of my old failed attempts!
Rather than loose pages for chapters and brainstorming, i usually start one notebook per novel/series i write. That way, everything stays in one place and i can keep it as a souvenir or even look back at it a few months down the road if i'm feeling stuck in the writing or editing process. I usually start as you do, with the general ideas, the incoming conflict and who are the main characters. then i start developing everything in details, from maps and country history (if i do fantasy) to character building. I even print little pictures from Pinterest to sticker pages to make my own character board in the notebook itself, i just love looking at that page ♥ When the story takes an unexpected turn as i write, or i don't know how to fix and issue my characters just jumped in without my authorization (they rarely do as they are told lol), i usually start with putting the laptop away and writing down the question on the same notebook, then i fill down all the possible answers. Usually one of the answers is going to scream 'chose me' so i just keep on developing that idea and the new problem it may creates in the story. I write on the laptop, 100% of the time, but handwriting on notebook is my go-to when i need to sort my brain out and untangle myself from the mess i created :D
These are such good tips!! I'm often stuck with a story, so I'm definitely gonna write in a notebook to sort the issues out. Hope it helps. That's so funny btw, about your characters not doing as they are told 😂👍💖

I started writing a book over a year ago but have been on a five or so month writers block, but your first instructions on how to brainstorm a book actually gave me a super stroke of inspiration! I just finished my brainstorm and, though I feel a little sad that I am going to rewrite quite a bit of my story to make the brainstorm fit I am positive this is the right move. Thank you so much this is what I needed. I truly do want to read Catcher,, as I love your written posts on Instagram. I love writers who use a lot of descriptive words that are poetic and a lot of your posts are beautiful and calming to read. Money has been a bit tight lately so it has been whatever is offered for free of whatever my husband has in his own book collection that I haven't read yet I am currently reading John Steinbeck's Travels with Charlie and it is giving me mondo travel inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing your tips on writing a novel, and I'm sorry that this was a Red Wine Ramble (I have Rose Rambles in the summer by the pool :)
I'm currently planning out the plot and chapters for a story I'm working on, but I haven't been able to work on it as much as I like because of school, but you've inspired me so much to just sit down today and write the rough draft!!
I started to write a book as well during high school, but now I am in university and I don't have enough time and inspiration to keep write it. You inspire me a lot, thank you. Maybe later I can switch on the computer!
I'm also writing my own book (since like two years now) and what I like to do is keep a small notebook next to me all the time for my random ideas, quotes or inspiring scenes that may come to my mind. This notebook is always in my desk or in my bag if I'm out! I really loved the idea of this video, because everyone process of creation is completely different and it's always nice to see new ideas of perspectives to create. Have a lovely day! Love from Spain xx

You bring such positive vibes, I can’t thank you enough. Teaching me techniques, skills and how to adult, turning 18 in a couple months trying to set myself up for greatness, and you are apart of the change I’m going through, once again. Thank you so very much🙏🏼❤️.
AHHH YAY IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS VIDEO!!! Seriously now I’m real convinced of your witchy vibes because I kid you not I was JUST thinking of this! Like lying in bed cuddling my cat thinking about writing and books and short stories and hoping you’d make this video! Kalyn is a witchy mind reader 🖤
Thank you for such a fun, "cozy," inspiring video with the cool, practical bullet journal method! What a fantastic action plan!! I often find that if I know the ending, that inspires the beginning of a new project and informs the rest of the book, story, or whatever it is I'm working on at the time. Also, the crystals made me concerned as I've heard horror stories of how crystals can really go "sideways" on a lot of people, based on so many factors involving their origin, deceit as to how long they will portend to "help" you, etc. If you only have them because you enjoy looking at them, or to take the natural energy from them as you would from a healthy food, for instance, I'm not worried (though it's certainly none of my business). If you worship them as many people do, though, that would never end well in the long run, and sometimes even hurts people immediately. Thanks again for such a smart, motivational video!!!
hey! I am a Sudbury girl a little north from you! :) just wanted to say that your blog, podcast and just everything you do has helped me incredibly! I think the universe is so funny in the way that it works. Two weeks ago I had a very detailed dream that I remembered and thought it would make a great story line for a novel . Which has been a life long dream of mine. I loved this video, Kalyn! It was very helpful and inapiring especially since I'm currently writing books on online platforms. I really do want to publish a book one day! 😍❤
I am actually writing a novel right now, I've been "writing" since I was ten and I say "writing" because of course my stories weren't good at all, they were about two to three pages long and they were terribly written and terribly boring but I've always had a wild imagination and that was my way of playing and having fun instead of playing sports or so. About a year ago I found a story I was working on when I was fifteen and it was lame but it had potential so I kept the characters, kept some conflicts and ideas but totally changed it and that's I'm working on right now and I'm loving it so far but sometimes I just get confused with my own thoughts and ideas, so this video was soooo helpful. Thank you very very much for this tips, you actually inspired me to keep on writting :)
OMG not finished watching yet but just heard your giveaway announcement and geeked so hard bc obviously your book is on my 2019 reading list!!!!! Also, totally agree with the others saying they really dont have plans to right a book but are of course watching anyway

I love watching you, especially on the Koze channel because I love your heart to heart honest talks and all your interests! I enjoy your wisdom and guidance as well! You have inspired me to read new books and I’m not usually an organized person so you have given me lots of tips how to do that! I do Tarot as well and I have the wild unknown deck and love it! Been wanting the animal spirit cards as well! I really Like the artwork she does! I hope to win a copy of your book! Would love a little message from you inside! That would be so cool! Much love always, Amanda xoxo
I'm currently writing a young adult trilogy. Book one is written, I'm onto revisions in March! Can't wait for Catcher 2, I have the first book and loved it!
Appreciated the video. I enjoy hearing about people's writing process. Probably because I don't really have one. It has varied across the books I have written. They have ranged from writing an extended syllabus that I expand into a novel to just pantsing it with occasional outline to get across tricky plot points. I have tried to be disciplined and start with an upfront detailed outline, but I find I quickly abandon it. Mainly because I cannot think all the way through a novel. I can only discover which way to go as I am writing it. I like to start with coming up with a character or two I really like and then putting them in an interesting situation and see where it takes me. Maybe have a general idea about where I want the narrative to go. As for the ending, it normally comes into focus about halfway through the novel (first part of the novel is about character and plot development, but not committing to something that will force me to a particular conclusion). If it does not, I shelve the idea and start working on something else until I can figure out whether the novel has legs and a possible conclusion.
one of my biggest goals is to write and publish a book. i’ve been writing stories since i was like 12 years old but never finished them. but now, i’m currently working on a novel with angels and demons as the theme but i’m having such a hard time to put my ideas into paper.. but this video inspired me a lot! i’m gonna try to do these little tips. tysm for always inspiring me kalyn 💞 ps. i ordered your book and is coming this wednesday, can’t wait to read it!!

I'm also writing two stories now but I'm getting lost here and there. This is the vlog/video that knocked a sense out of me. On how to be motivated to continue writing and how I could eventually finish it. 😂 Because I'm writing another story without finishing the other one. Thanks Kalyn. You're always an angel. For me, at least. Love you

This video was literally a God send. I love writing too and I'm currently writing a book called "Secrets" and i really could use those tips you gave us. Thank you so much. And good luck with your second book. I loved the first one and i can't wait to read the second.
🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮
studylatin we totally manifested it! Haha
Like seriously how freaky though! It was meant to be!
Can you make a video all about self publishing? I’m also currently working on writing my first novel! Love your videos 💕
Thank you for the Vlog. Not only useful, but insightful and entertaining as well.
hey! I am a Sudbury girl a little north from you! :) just wanted to say that your blog, podcast and just everything you do has helped me incredibly! I love your reading list and they have all become part of my library lol but I just have to say thank you for sharing your life with the world, its inspirational and motivating! One day, my dream is to have my own series of children books and you inspire me to keep writing.
great tips! I've always wanted to write books but never finished or published anything, except a short novella and a zine but it wasn't the same as a full novel obviously, I'm definitely going to try out your methods!:)
I'd love to know more about the publishing process. 🙂
Congratulations Kalyn! Proud of you, girl! And yeah wish you a very happy birthday month babe! Have fun. Love ya..💓
I just love it that you show some of the writing process. I've been struggling writer and have not written anything in several years because of writers block.
See this has inspired me to get back into writing once more.
Thank you so much.

@@drmblu Same, well only my class and a few of my family members know I’m writing a book, but not a lot of people. I don’t want to say my storyline because what if someone copy’s it and writes the book I had before me.
Me either
I needed this so much right now! I was just laying here before bed talking to my boyfriend about how hard it is for me to write properly and stay on top of it, then magically here is your video right when I needed it! Thank you for the tips, I usually get writers block after a good writing session then I find it so hard to come back to but I’m going to try your planning method this time. ☺️❤️
Yyaaaayyyy good luck!!! I’m writing a book on the Warsaw ghetto!! I think one thing that’s useful is have a « new ideas » note book. And a note where you write all inspiration mal sourced you might need to go to when facing a plateau !
Girl, I love you with all my heart and I am so glad that you are doing what makes you happy but I really miss your routines and the tipe of videos that you still have in your "popular uploads" playlist.💕💕
I am currently writing my debut novel. I love seeing your process. It’s amazing how personal and different every writers process is. For me, I really struggled until I discovered the Save The Cat beat sheets. Can’t wait to see your progress!
I love you. Your are a big inspiration on what I’m trying to do this year. I’m a writer. I’ve written since a very young age. I’m working on a blog and a book. And this was such a help thanks!
Grl, you are such an inspiration...can't get better than this, love from Croatia 😘🇭🇷
I enjoy reading and I absolutely love writing! I just find it hard to balance the time to do it while in college but this inspires me to make that time for myself! If you want, I’d really love to see more of your writing videos!
I just started journaling again and was so excited about it that I was thinkig about an old book idea I had and how it may be the time to go for it and write! Great video as usual!
that gave my a good idea on how i want to complete my book too, it's a fiction short story collection and i find this video very helpful, you're so inspirational
I think the universe is so funny in the way that it works. Two weeks ago I had a very detailed dream that I remembered and thought it would make a great story line for a novel . Which has been a life long dream of mine. I haven’t watched TH-cam pretty much since then and I come on today and this is the first video I saw. 2019 is the year of hope and new beginnings thank you for making such an unreal video with such great timing !
Helena Sawosciej the universe is sending you signals 🔮
Hi Kalyn ,
I am finally jumping in and writing my own book during quarantine! I found this very helpful!!
Thank you so much for sharing!
I finished reading Catcher last week and I can say I genuinely enjoyed it and I actually can't wait to read what happens next!!
I am a writer myself and planning to publish my first novel by the end of this year! I’ll put all my time into writing after graduating in June and hope to make use of my connections to get a publisher.

K A L Y N you’re welcome!🖤
I loved this video so much! I used to write stories and I have a few that are basically as big as books, but I stopped writing some time ago. But I think that my muse is slowly coming back and that I will start writing again soon ^^ Thank you for this video! Makes me want to write again ^^
I love hearing you talk about Catcher. I also started a book in high school and I’d love to put it out to the world one day!!
One of my goals for this year is to write my first book, I had been struggling a lot and starting all over again with the first few chapters for so long...
I your video is just what I needed now ♡ You really are the best Kalyn, sending love from Germany! ♡
I’m writing a book myself! I’ve always been writing, my whole life. I distinctly remember writing my first poem in 5th grade actually! I’m 17 now and am now writing my first book. I’ve always written poems and short stories so this is really big for me. I want this book published and out in the world someday, and I know I can make that happen. You are so inspirational Kalyn and actually help me so much with my vibes and creativity! Could we maybe have a part two to this writing a book video? Maybe with more planning and tips? And how to publish a book because I definitely need advice on that. Anyways, you’re amazing Kalyn thank you so much!!
Your writing process seems efficient. My techniques flow in a different light. Looking forward to learning from you.
I'm new-ish here and had no idea that you'd written a book! That's SO AWESOME! Had to laugh when you changed out of jeans. I mean, really. Who writes in jeans?
It was super fun to see your writing process, I'm a writer myself and I just started writing my first book back in November for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month.) I definitely would love for you to keep us updated on your progress and share more of your learnings as you go! Love your content so much!
Thank you so much for this video, I've been writting a book for some years now and since two years ago I haven't been able to write in it. This video inspired me so much to write again and get my ideas organized.
Thanks for being one of the best inspirations ever!
I'm a writer too. I mostly do comics, but I'm starting to write my first novel, so this is amazing for me. I gotta say, it's insane how much you accomplish all the time. Your energy is so contagious!
You work out, you write, you make videos, edit them, have a social life... Like damn.
I wish I could have like a quarter of it. You are truly an inspiration, so keep up the good work!
Just wanna say you are such an Inspiration to me! And the sister I've always wanted. And I've tried to write books in high school as well I just never know how to bring it to life yano. Thanks so much for sharing so many life related things!😘 loves yah kalyn! 😄 keep doing you! :)

I just love watching your videos whenever I can... Fingers crossed I get a copy of your book sounds dreamy and super artistic😊
Thank you, thank you! Yes, I love writing. I am currently writing a poetry collection and would love tips and tricks on how to self publish. It seems so daunting and expensive. 😆❤️ Love your content so much! You have been apart of the glue holding me together in my happy single life.
I absolutely love this, im a bookworm at heart and I've just recently taken a creative writing class which inspired me to get back into writing. So I was considering writing my own novel. This is a big help, and I hope you post more book-related content :)

I love reading & writing! Here lately I’ve been writing poems mostly. I would love to publish a book one day, but I’m not sure what it would be about. Hopefully one day I can figure it out & do it! :) I need to read your book! It sounds very interesting!
I really loved the coffee talk podcast "how to stop caring"! Thank you so much for sharing🙏❤️
I'm just weeks away from holding my own novel in my hands. You were such an inspiration while I wrote it. Your videos inspired me to develop the discipline I needed to get it done. I am going to put Catcher on my TBR for 2019.
This video was SO inspirational! You should do a video on how to publish/get your book out there for people to read!
Yes yes yes. Reading and writing are big hobbies. I would love more videos like this
I’ve made some life changing decisions and you are my inspiration behind! Can’t wait to share with you when they are actually happening! 💕
Just finished listening to Kalyn’s most recent podcast then got a notification that this video was posted 😭❤️ BLESS. The Kalynspiration never stops 🌞🌈✨
Literally trying to revise an old novel this year. So I would love to see more videos about this topic!
I would love to see a video of your crystal collection and how you work with them.
OMG not finished watching yet but just heard your giveaway announcement and geeked so hard bc obviously your book is on my 2019 reading list!!!!! Also, totally agree with the others saying they really dont have plans to right a book but are of course watching anyway
Yay! Thank you Kayln!!! I added your story about Catcher as my story! I’m so happy for your continued successes and growth! I really
Like the artwork she does!
If it does not, I shelve the idea and start working on something else until I can figure out whether the novel has legs and a possible conclusion.
one of my biggest goals is to write and publish a book. i’ve been writing stories since i was like 12 years old but never finished them. but now, i’m currently working on a novel with angels and demons as the theme but i’m having such a hard time to put my ideas into paper.. but this video inspired me a lot! i’m gonna try to do these little tips. tysm for always inspiring me kalyn 💞
ps. i ordered your book and is coming this wednesday, can’t wait to read it!!
I'm so excited about this! I'm currently working on a fantasy retelling/fanfic and it's so much fun
Thank you so much Kalyn!!!! I appreciate this video so much and hope you film more behind the scenes!! I am working on a book as well and hope to publish it this year!!!
Love you
Loved this video! Your tips for segmenting your work is going to be super helpful for my job/school, so thank you for sharing some stardust wisdom!
You know, I'm a writer. I watch a lot of Authortube videos. I listen to a lot of advice about the writing process.
I think that might have been the best breakdown of the brainstorming process I've ever heard.
love how aligned this video came out now when writing my first book was one of the things I wanted to accomplish this year. Thank you for the tips!
Never really thought about writing a book until this video and now I’m considering what I’d write about and ideas are a flowin’
I loved this! I recently started planning and writing out the beginnings of a novel I've had in mind for awhile and all these novel writing videos and books have been popping up as well and I just feel like the universe and I are aligned :) great vid!
I've always wanted to write a book! Thanks for breaking it down for all of us.
Love this! Almost tempted to try and rewrite the book I wrote in middle school but also not sure if I want to tackle that right now 😂
I have always loved reading and writing!! I hope to one day write my own book, so I was really interested in the video!!:)
