    She did try to free shmi. She secretly sent her servant to do it, but shmi ended up already bought by owen father.

      From the materials I've read; She tried like twice in ten years. Seems like no sense of urgency.

      If she really took it seriously, when it failed she'd have contacted Anakin and told him the goods that his mother was bought, freed, married, and is now safe and happy.

    Padme tried on multiple occasions to free Shmi. Not to mention that she was never obligated to do so.

      Shmi saved Padme's life and was open to helping even though she; was not obligated to help either. After the shock of all the events that happened on Coruscant & Naboo settled down; I think as a Queen & then Senator more effort could have been made on Padme's part.

      SIde note... I like your name. Hondo was a big favorite of mine. Sad that Hondo and Aura Sing did not make it as a couple.

      @@starwarsdistrictIn new canon, Padme did send Sabé to try and free Shmi. I don’t remember what stopped her, but she also began freeing many other slaves on Padme’s orders and settling them throughout the sector around Naboo. Anakin’s childhood friends live in one such colony and I believe appear in a Vader comic.

      @starwarsdistrict  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AntonNight Yes, she did but it took her like 10 years from leaving Naboo. Ten years of celebrating the anniversary of Naboo crisis while Shmi was still a slave.

      @@starwarsdistrict I thought you’d said in another comment that it was twice during ten years?
      And in any case, Padmé wasn’t exactly lounging around for those ten years. She was Queen of a whole planet, and then Senator for it. The fact that she juggled that with spending her personal wealth to free slaves for multiple years and tried to go out of her way to free a specific slave is admirable. And Shmi lived a free life for her last few years anyways, happily married and loved.
      Anakin’s fall had many factors leading up to it from many sources, but the person who’d failed him the most was undoubtedly himself. He made the decision in the end to trust a man who he logically knew had plunged the galaxy into war and whose apprentice had endorsed attempts at assassinating Padme. Even without the benefit of knowing that Palpatine was faking being helpless any rational person would know he couldn’t be trusted by both physical evidence and logical deductions.
      Even says it in the Kenobi finale to the one person who would feel the most responsible for his fall: “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker; I did.”

    I don't get how you could land anywhere other than on Anakin being the one who failed Anakin the most, because that is who is ultimately responsible for every single thing that he did.

    • @starwarsdistrict
      @starwarsdistrict  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your point is also very valid Anakin is responsible for his actions in the long run. He needed a major vacation to relax and gain perspective.

      It funny you don't want to blame the Jedi also because they are also at fault they was assumed Ashoka was guilty and they also very dogmatic on some things

    Interesting points, but I think the one who failed Anakin the most was none other than Palpatine. Under the guise of a mentor and a friend, he manipulated him for his own ends, while Anakin trusted him.

  • @devaughnjohnson
    @devaughnjohnson 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Obiwan failed Anikan the most; he wasn't ready to be a mentor and was too loyal to the council to be a proper master, so Anikan found a father figure in Sidious

      I agree newly ranked Jedi Knight Obi-wan was not ready to teach anyone. Anakin still was in need of a family.

    with all the collective power of the Jedi, they can't safeguard the safety of Anakin's mother, or buy her freedom to keep her safe? Yoda was like "he's too old to begin the training.....I only do children" creepy green alien. lol

    • @starwarsdistrict
      @starwarsdistrict  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah Yoda was definitely stuck in his ways. Plus; I agree they needed to do something for Shmi. Dooku was right. The Jedi help the slave master but not the slave.

    Ultimately the jedi dogmatic ways brought about their downfall and they are responsible for their order being destroyed

      They had such little growth. The galaxy changed but they stubbornly remained the exact same.

    In life everything starts with your Elders 1st then trickles down to the children once they are old enough , strong enough & have a certain sense of understanding to handle things on their own from there ✅
    I go for Obi-Wan 1st
    then The Jedi order 2nd
    Followed by Anakin himself 3rd for his turn to the “DarkSide Failure” in that order but that’s just my opinion.
