Very straightforward and clear! I may check this out, I have watched many You Tube reviews of DAPS and read them also; my old ipod classic did not die but when they stopped supporting transferring cds from my MacBook Air to it, I could no longer add albums and I still had a lot of space! I do NOT like listening from my phone though I bought a micro SD card to try it out. This may be great~I liked the idea of using the aux input in the car~my car is a 2009 Camry great car that I bought in 2011.
the Bluetooth feature is not actually to use your car head unit connection. It's a feature for your handphone to control your DAC while you are using your DAC and the sametime, you can use your phone if someone call in.
Tracks have to be run through a replay gain program to tag them with replay gain info (best as I can remember). Pretty sure a good ripper should have that as an option. If you turn on Bluetooth HQ, and try to connect to a device which does not support HQ, Bluetooth connection will fail. Meaning as you switch between headphones or devices, you have to go back and turn HQ on or off. Holding down the M button kicks into an index search while scrolling. Massive undocumented time saver. While this would be an epic device to use on your hi-fi via line-in, there is no remote ability. So you have to use bluetooth to stream from the sofa. Kinda wastes that lovely line-out jack. As a sports device (cycling/running), it's a fail because the buttons go dead when the screen turns off. So when it's in your cycling shirt pocket, and you hit a track that doesn't have replay gain and it's blasting you, you have to turn the device on to lower (or raise) the volume. Presumably, you could do that via your sports headset, but I can never seem to remember, which ear, which touch sensitive tap, or what ever todays device requires, to change the volume. So I need the up/down buttons active. Yea, I've had one of these for three years. Still works, still use it. Great device, great sound. Mines named iRulu F20 though.
All, Earlier I submitted an issue I was having with some songs not playing on my Surfans F2. Some, like me, may know when you insert a disc to be ripped, and you have Itunes on your computer, as I did, it pops up and give you an opportunity to convert those songs to, say, WAV format. I did this and those are the ones that will not play. If you all knew this, then I apologize for the lengthly post. I didn't and it drove me crazy. For those that didn't know. I hope this helps. Jim
I just bought one thinking it would have the album art covers from the songs we play on it, the ad shows a woman singer on the screen for the song thats being played on it, I cant figure out how to make that work, I wouldnt have bought it if it doesnt support that like others will, do you know if it will?
ipod classics headhone jack is not a combined headphone / line out. The line out is through the 30pin connector at bottom needs a proper cable 30pin to 3.5mm jack. My iPod 5.5 gen I replaced the storage and battery. I can upgrade it to 1TB storage and has about 2-3 days battery life playing music.
Thanks very much Just got a new mac mini at end of last year and i just bought a new ipod touch 260 gig, and this helps a lot, I have my old ipod classic 160 gig still works. This video ius great because it does it mac, most videos i see are windows based!
I dont understand this surfans F20. Didnt get a power cord with it, seen an on line manual but it doesnt tell you how to set up playlist. I have owned mp players, I pods but the creators of this surfans F20 assumed a lot from the user when this was created. I need help.
Great review! I'm looking at ditching my iPod touch with the 128 GB capacity because it keeps telling me that the music that I ripped from some of my CDs is "not available in your country", and I find that to be really really stupid.
Had the same issue :) I BOUGHT the CD and one song was "not available in y. c.". I bought the SURFANS last week and am REALLY happy - no more iTunez :)
Purchased through Amazon? I’m curious if new stock has upgraded hardware but no running disclosures of updates and revisions? I bought a Ruizu A55 and just am now returning it, terrible battery life, and glitches touch screen buttons not responding half the time. If new stock sold on Amazon has the USB-C port this will be my next player, or the HiFi Walker H2. EDIT : Update 08/04/23. I bought the Surfans F20 a little over a month back. Mine is the latest updated model hardware wise has the USB-C which indicates the upgraded version (which is firmware V2.7, the internal hardware has also been improved, details are posted at Rockbox). I’m extremely happy with this player! Got an incredible deal netted out at $89 after discounts and limited sale.
I dont know about ID3 but I just name a photo cover.jpg in the album folder and that photo shows up for every song...of that album. Does that answer your question?
It does it on its own, I didnt even know it could do that and when i went searching for albums I found out it loaded for songs and album. Not all thou.
What about album cover art for the bands that are playing on device? like windows media player used to do, the ad shows a woman on the screen, how do we make that work or does it have to do with the download from computer?
So for my art ... i place all the songs into a folder and also in that same folder I place the cover art - I name it cover.jpg. That works. Some observations...keep the art to about 640x640 size range. Anything with a super high resolution wont look much better and sometimes wont load. I place the art in the folder manually and most art for most albums are available online with a quick search. The device does not do its own album art "scraping" like Itunes app etc. Its not fun but thats how it works.
Excuse can you assist me please I think I downloaded the music as I can see the titles in the machine but when I select it says PLAY FILED NO FILE I could save the MCU file to my PC but couldn’t open it but I managed to click and drag the files to the MCU dropper that opened on my PC but I could open it that was for loaded ti my PC
not exactly sure what your asking...just drag and drop the files you want to play (mp3, wav, flac, alac etc. on to a micro sd card and put the card in the player. should work.
I’m shocked that more of these don’t exist. There is a movement to go towards analogue, physical button and single purpose technology as a way to simplify life and own our media again. That’s why I’m getting one
Hey i just subscribed, can u make more videos for Digital Music Player. I m' kind a disappointed by ipod for many things that i can't do when i m in Bharat (India)
Bought three of these lil guys to gift and kept one for my self, pretty happy with the results. It's exactly what it says it does... Def recommend :)
Great alternative to getting an old iPod that you might have to repair. All the modern features as well! Thanks!!
Excellent! Thanks for showing how to add music since every other podcasters usually don’t
Glad it was helpful!

You’re in the right track and that’s exactly how I came to my decision too!
Universal blessing ☄️❤️

Best review of the Surfans, really helped to see how to load music on & the features - great job buddy
I wanted to thank you for showing me how to rip the CDs like that. Made my life also much simpler!
happy to help
No the volume doesn't just change on the 5's, it uses all the values 👍
My hearing just isnt that good then, I cant tell...thanks tho!
All,

the surfans should play it, strange that it doesnt.
My God windows media player is soo much easier. Just set it rip in flack and it auto rips the cd and then drag and drop to the sync side.
I just bought one thinking it would have the album art covers from the songs we play on it, the ad shows a woman singer on the screen for the song thats being played on it, I cant figure out how to make that work, I wouldnt have bought it if it doesnt support that like others will, do you know if it will?
I place the songs from an ablum in one folder, in that folder I place the cover art .jpg called cover.jpg in there and it works perfect.
Great review!
This unit reminds me of the Dodocool DA106

Thanks this is a very informative review. Well done!
Thank you for the overview. From all the images I thought it was the older micro usb.
Yes, it is the old micro usb :(
Nope, USB 3.0 on mine.

I'm looking for a good player. Tank's for this review.
No problem!
Now you have to take two music players with you in your pocket. iPhone does the job fine with Spotify.
Spotify plays mp3 128 kbps. The player can do it up to flac. If u want that in streaming u have to pay a premium.
Does it read song artwork form the ID3 tags or only from a separate folder?
I dont know about ID3 but I just name a photo cover.jpg in the album folder and that photo shows up for every song...of that album. Does that answer your question?
It does it on its own, I didnt even know it could do that and when i went searching for albums I found out it loaded for songs and album. Not all thou.
Looks a lot like my HIFI Walker H2

It worked, thanx a million!
What software do you use to manage the music on the device?
its just folder and files...drag and drop to sd card, pop in and it reads it.
Do I need to write cover small or big at the beginning by cover.jpg 5:55? please help :/?
just cover.jpg just make sure the file is not huge
How comes yours Has USB type-C ? Where can i buy one with type-c, everywhere i look it chargers via Micro USB.
If anyone can help thank you :)
I think the photos may show micro but will actually arrive usb-c...I think.
I just ordered one.
If it’s USB C I would be through the moon. That was the main reason why I hesitated
anyone wondering i bought one it was USB C. Althought the OS was fucked so i refunded it :c
Excuse can you assist me please
I think I downloaded the music as I can see the titles in the machine but when I select it says

Can you do seek/fast forward with the wheel?
Not sure but it is NOT as smooth and easy as an iPod
THIS or

I dont know about the others tbh
Thank you for this Vid. Greetings from Germany :)
Thanks for watching! Meine beiden Töchter sprechen Deutsch und waren erst letzte Woche dort. Guten Tag Ihnen.
Hey Guys, Cant get this to finish setup and install the DAC driver. would anyone be able to help me out?
Not sure what dac driver you mean - is t it built in?
What is the last item on the home screen menu (after bluetooth)?
Wall paper on and off...the device wall paper ... no value to me I turn off.
Hidizs mp3 player or this?
I still have not found a video on how to delete songs from my Surfan f20
Maybe read the manual?
Is the line-out fixed volume or does the volume control work?
Fixed - I think
Does it have FM radio?
No
Somebody lose their iPhone? This was known as an iPod till nobody needed it anymore.
No I just like the uninterrupted and much better quality sound as an option - not to mention I’m a gadget boy
I’m shocked that more of these don’t exist.
There is a movement to go towards analogue, physical button and single purpose technology as a way to simplify life and own our media again.
That’s why I’m getting one
Nobody needs it anymore? Wrong. Many are going back to basics not held hostage by social media
Hey i just subscribed, can u make more videos for Digital Music Player.
I m' kind a disappointed by ipod for many things that i can't do when i m in Bharat (India)
OK soon, anything specific?
Wait. 13 links to all the gear you use for your TH-cam channel and not one fucking link to the product you are reviewing? SMH
