BIG Bass on Chickamauga! Fall Bass Fishing Has Begun!!

- Tim is on a mission to catch a big bass! He’s on the water early, armed with topwater and a chatterbait. Come along for the fun! Watch as he adapts to changing conditions, fine tunes the pattern, and catches some really nice Chickamauga bass! Fall is prime time to catch quality fish as they feed up before Winter so make the time, head to the lake, and catch a big one of your own.
When Tim set out he was searching for an early morning topwater bite. He had a plan but he stayed open minded, paying attention to his surroundings. It didn’t take him long to realize there was no surface activity this morning. Taking the cue from nature he dropped down to the bottom with a chatterbait and got the bite he was looking for! When you’re on the water its important to pay close attention to your surroundings at all times. Every time you hit the water you’re surrounded by clues that will help you dial in the pattern. Keep your eyes open, don’t be afraid to adapt, and you’ll start catching fish more consistently.
Once Tim ran in to surface activity he switched back to topwater and was able to capitalize on some really nice bass with the popper. As the activity died off, the dropshot was clutch to finish out the day. Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment Tim used throughout the day. We’ve even included an all-around budget combo that you could use for the chatterbait and light flipping. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

The sounds of the casting, nature, and whopper plopper moving water combined-reminds me of NDYakAngler.
Beautiful.
Him and TacticalBassin and Greg Blanchard are my favorites! They fish in some beautiful areas.
It does don't it
He does rip it up , even with a lego wookiee
Wow !! Absolutely breath taking out there. Nothing like being out early , so quiet you can here a pin drop. Birds in the background singing water like glass, and pulling in a nice 3lb phatty to cap off your morning. Lucky !!
Tim boat flips a 6 pounder and says "that'll do" Really enjoy your videos guys.
Thanks for the great info and content.
Since I can't go fishing, this is the next best thing.
I love this channel....has taught me so much...in my first year of lake fishing with my own boat...Matt and Tim have shown me a whole new world of fishing...keep it up guys...
Glad to hear it! Tight lines Adam
best fishing talkshow ever i watched
Thank you!
I've been home watching over family and this is what I needed.
Greatest channel on TH-cam! Keep up the great work and amazing information and tips and tricks.
Been watching these guys for a few years now and I have to say they are knowledgeable and thorough. I love learning about baits and gear. Also, great to learn when to use particular tactics and how to to target fish on different types of water. You guys do a great job. keep up the good work!
As always thank you. I caught my PB because of your videos. Keep them coming
Great teaching again. Thank you
Tim, Nice job showing how to grind it out!
Thanks for watching!
Love tactical bassin first thing in the am it's like my morning cup of coffee. Wonder if Matt's gonna start guiding on chic next year
I hope they do. I'm ready to hand over a wad of cash for a guided trio catching footballs.
I hope so I just live 1.5hrs away I’m ready to book a trip!!!
I'm sure after he gets more familiar and more knowledgeable of the lake he will
I hope so I live in eastern NC but I ain’t got a problem drive 8 hours for them hogs
I live in Southern Ohio and would travel anytime I could get booked up! Lol
Very good video my friend and loved it..Thanks for sharing it,
Mat and Tim, you guys make phenomenal videos!! I caught a largie with a square bill tossing up the bank into the shade in the middle of day!!! Seen bass there but could not get them to bite till now. REACTION BITE! BURN PAUSE, BURN BURN BURN PAUSE. THEY CAME UNGLUED FOR IT!!!!I literally learn everything from. You guys! So much info out there but what I learn from TACTICALBASSIN WORKS!! THANKS GUYS!!! That crank bait video definitely helped as well!!
That is awesome to hear Viet! Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍
I love your dedication to he craft. Keep em comin.
That owner cover shot hook Tim was using with his drop shot is no joke. I have caught giants on that hook. Always pins them good! Thanks Tim for the vid!
Agree 100% great hook
Awesome I really need to start trying the power shot but you guys have helped me catch my PB and then upgrade it from all your teaching I hope to break my PB at least one more time before the lakes freeze. Thank you so much you guys are the best channel on TH-cam!
Getting on them Chickamauga BIGGINS! AWESOME!
Love tactical bassin. I have learned quite a löt from the videos and it works. Keep up the good informative videös. Thanks
Thank you for what you do sir I love the videos
After getting skunked yesterday so many times, you made me feel better seeing "the experts" miss em too!

Great way to start your day, thanks Tim. 👍👍👍. The Englishman
Great video guys thank you for the hard work💪
Water temperature here in my Rhode Island/Massachusetts area really cooling down,Thank you Tim 🔥🔥👊
Your chanle is one of the best informative channels out there and you are closer to where I live
Que bonito paisaje mi amigo saludos de Tucson Az
Now that y’all are in the East y’all should start doing some Tournaments. Would love to see you guys in the BASSMASTER opens.
I love you style how you fishing 💪🎣🎣
Tactical Bassin for life.
So surreal to see you fishing places that I fish! Looks like the game warden shave is gone!
Always great info
Good stuff.
Awesome fish to start the day! They’ve definitely been chasing bait at the back of the coves down here in NC. I’ve done well with swimbaits, but I’ll be giving the popper a try next time!
This was super helpful. The grass killed me yesterday. I threw a chatter bait, drop shot, a soft plastic jerk bait, and a popper! But I see now that I didn’t stick with my instincts And fish those options long enough before jumping around to other things that’s weren’t effective.
Watch your channel all the time I’m fishing. A tournament on chick next sat thanks for the video
I fished chick for first time a couple weeks ago.I caught 2 keeprs early on nose hooked fluke. Love that rig.1 bfl win and 3 top tens the fluke has been key player. I wish I had thrown Texas rigged drop shot but didn't. Now I really wish I had.
Welcome back
Good to hear it's even been dead for you guys. Been a bit rough in central VA as of late.
I'm in central Minnesota and have been getting my teeth kicked in the past 2 and a half weeks I've been out, couple fish here and there but I cant put anything together pattern wise
@@lexm0 kind of the same. I can pick up some dinks but I've been dealing with a ton of hydrilla die off and it's clogging up all the shallower locations, coves, and what not to hit. Had bait clouds off points in 8-12' of water hitting topwater and tried chatterbaits, squarebills (of various sizes and patterns), whopper plopper, and for the hell of it threw in a weightless texas rigged senko. Nada. To be fair most of the clouds I wasn't even picking up actual fish feeding on them on my fish finder so who knows what's going on. Good luck to you. Hope it takes a turn of the better up your way.
That'll do. Oh my!
I’m coming down from Ky in a couple weeks for my first trip, can’t wait!!!
Can you guys do a video on how you have changed your lure presentation, approach and what you've learned so far after the move? If any.
You're not using your own rule of moving to a lower profile when you're missing fish.
Love watching your videos, slaying.
Popers arent very big and they have trebble hooks sometimes you gotta wait up to 5 seconds beteween you retrives ect.
LOL I did downsize and go natural with the popper ;)
@@tacticalbassin
my bad then, maybe I missed it. 👀
I haven't had much luck on my popper lately.. I love top water and they want none of it rn..
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Alexa wanted that Bass to be bigger! Lol great vid!
This is gonna be my home lake next year, I cant wait!
Would LOVE to see a video from Tims Ford.
Amazing to me how many times they don't bite after a bait feed blow up. I think they move immediately back to where they were ambushing from. I've learned from years of frogging if you can see where the fish moved from, you can cast there rather than up the blow up and there'll be a hook up. Not to say if true schooling is going on, where they are is where they will be, because that's a fact. Almost like shooting a rifle with both eyes open if you know what I mean. Any subtle movement on some days get you more than the blow ups. I also find at times a small spook type on grass edges is more efficient than a frog. Hate to say that as much as I have a frog in my hand, but some days it's on.
Hey I've struggled with the plupper and this really helped me realize that I have been pulling it to fast which caused it to roll on the side even though this was mainly fishing footage I still learned something
Southern trick this time of year. Throw a completely clear topwater at those fish busting and you will get more bites.
You guys are the best. I'm in the Nashville area i would love to meet yall one day. It'd be an honor
Good video went to watts bar yesterday was a little slow will try your ideas next time
Man I live 5 min away and ill tell ya the bites tough. Even the pros struggled for a 29 pound bag limit for 2 days!!
When I use poppers I like the lobino rico and it blows my mind how a fish can blow up on that bait and miss the hooks
Been having trouble on my body of water, gonna try to power shot as well
Nice
Matt and Tim are yall enjoying tennessee so far? You guys should come up and make a video fishin Center Hill lake
either of you try the 13 fishing trash panda frog? i'm liking the upward titled hooks and the body shape recesses the hooks somewhat. that roboworm in blue neon tho!
Can you two do your top pick rods for kayak fishing like I have 9 rods on my kayak however would like to see what yall would recommend to maybe narrow it down or something
Awesome morning. Love catching those fish. Tim can you give me a place I can go to to purchase a TacticalBassin hat or two? I’ve been a sub for many years and have learned a lot from you and Matt. I’d love to have a hat or two
Hi Tim 👋
Has Matt and Tim relocated to East Tennessee. I live in Chattanooga. That would be awesome!
We sure have! Thanks for watching Bryan
Tim that is a 2 min fish landing violation
Top water action was nutts this morning caught 17 bass with a storm chugg bugg it's inexpensive worth checking out
The chug bug is a great topwater!
@@tacticalbassin I'm always asked about top water baits and what's cheap and good I always tell them about the chug bug and the yo-zuri 3d pencil bait
9:52 know that feeling lol
Boat Flippn' Biggns!
go pros!
When Siri kicks in..... “ok, I’ll order you a nice one”
I'm going to have to take some notes on this and go try it myself at the Rivers we have here in my City, what river is this
Awesome stuff
Like to know your opinion between the Expride 7'2" MH Glass vs the Poison Adrena 7'3" MH for chatterbait fishing.
Chick where I caught my PB love that place
I don’t remember how long ago it was maybe 3yrs. I offered up my boat and house for you guys to come chicamauga and now you live here so awesome. Would either of you be interested in fishing a homeless veteran tourney out of chester frost nov 14. The company I work for is the #1 sponsor and It would be great to have you guys show?
Yall should move to Tennessee!
they have
Question, do you really need a glass rod for cranking/chatterbaits? Never actually used anything other than graphite rods.
Thanks dude lol
Tim:"Nice one"
Siri:"okay"
LOL! I was like "be quiet Siri" 🙄
Did you guys move out there?
What is yalls gopro setup?
I put a tatula on a veritas this spring and love it but I’m having a problem no one can help me with. Any idea why the 2 slots on my rod that hold the reel are to wide? In other words, my reel can wiggle side to side when firmly tightened in the rod. The rod is a 7’3” heavy fast
What area of that lake do you get the most of your bites in so far
Have to admit to still being a bit peeved you relocated away from Clear Lake....as you guys were about the only Cali fishing TH-cam team that I found entertaining as well as educational. I do understand your logic however....go where the water and tourneys are....but that doesn't stop me from being upset over losing you guys. (of course...I will still follow you closely).
Don't worry... we were already on the road constantly. We'll be back out West all the time 👍
So how well is the fishing at xhick
Looks like that fish has been caught a few times....
How fast is the tip on that IMX pro topwater rod?
Not too fast. I really like it. The rod loads up nicely.
What size straight shank are you going with for the power shot?
All The gear Tim used is listed in the video description . Its listed as-an Owner Cover Shot hook in 1/0
Dullbert Dough over looked that. Thanks!
I wonder why they left California and clear lake i doubt fishing was the reason
Hate to say it Tim, but your flipin fish in to the boat could use some work..Otherwise, good video.
LOL that one was bigger than I thought. Glass rods aren't the best for boat flippin big ones 🤷♂️
Can someone help me understand the purpose of a Glass/Graphite rod? I've noticed that most people use it for crankbaits, while other's use them for spinnerbaits?
Glass rods give more flex, gives bass more time to inhale the bait so it leads to better hookups. It also works as a shock absorber when fighting a fish, a softer rod gives in to the fish more so it's less likely to tear off or bend out a hook. I've never used a glass rod but this is my understanding
@@eliaskruse6315
Thanks Elias...I've heard fishermen say that the glass rod is slower to respond...and gives a better hookup ratio? I can kinda see that with treble hooks - but I'm really confused about the spinnerbait & chatterbait uses?? I use a graphite rod, medium power and moderate-fast action for what I call treble hook baits with no complaints, but I'm definitely not on the most up to date, latest & greatest gear trend train - I still throw my ol' worm 80% of the time!
@@markbuckallew4689 hahahaha personally I need to step up my game with the plastic worm. I've only been fishing just over a year now and its a skill I've neglected, got a long way to go with fishing 😂. Although as a pond/small lake fisherman (most ponds in my area have only 2 inches of visibility max) I find myself using spinnerbaits and chatterbaits very frequently to get the fishes attention. When using my fast action graphite rod I noticed every-once-in-awhile I would feel the bite, immediately set, and miss the fish because I set too fast or it wouldn't get hooked in a good spot. When switching to my moderate fast rod, I found this almost never happened, there was a split second longer for the bass to take the single hook deeper into its mouth and I wouldn't rip the bait away. I guess it depends on the fisherman, some prefer adjusting their technique to the rod, and some their rod to the technique. After saying all that I try to keep things as simple as possible, I only have 2 rods so far, realistically I could use stepping away from using my favorite 5 baits all the time 😅😂. Cheers and tight lines!! 🐟🎣🐟🎣
@@eliaskruse6315 using fast rods I like to pause for a couple seconds after a strike when I'm using plastics (Texas rig). I don't understand using strong hook sets (crank yanking) after a hit. That's how you lose fish.
The bite is tough on Chickamauga because the lake receives too much pressure.
It was really good a few weeks ago. Looking like its getting better by the day.
TacticalBassin
Sorry about my negativity. Glad you guys are here. Welcome to Tennessee.
Does anyone know if these guys moved out of California?
Yes, we relocated to Tennessee. But that's just home base, we travel constantly and will still regularly fish California along with many other areas of the country.
TacticalBassin right on tight lines you guys you improve a lot of fishermen’s fishing thanks for all the information you guys put out 👍, I just watched that video about you guys moving I don’t know how I missed so many notifications.
Sorry but a little editing would do.. what are you using, where, when, how, than the catch... Or timestamps? Just saying
I hate watching your show... every time I watch I end up on Tackle Warehouse buying more rods, reels, lures, etc. I need help. The sad thing is, I suck at fishing but I got some really nice gear. 😊
He just boat flipped that giant like it was nothing.... i wouldve been having a heart attack and a stroke if i saw her much less boat flip
Tlm, do you and Matt ever eat the fish you catch.thanks for the great vids.
anybody else notice bigfoot on the left at 4:06
Why doesn’t anybody want to fish dale hollow anymore??
I struggle to catch fish in the fall every year, I fish hard cover, flip the greenest thickest patches of grass left after it starts to die, finesse fish shallow and deep, reaction fish grass, wood, docks, etc. I CANNOT figure it out, it's like once the water cools off, my fish VANISH and I will catch a dink here and there. One lake is a natural grass lake, with 1 creek arm that runs into the main lake, and the other lake is a featureless oval with one slight point that has a drainage creek that runs in. ANY input will greatly appreciated!
Fish live bait bro. The lure purists probably hate hearing that but who cares when your catching bass all fall and winter even when its blowing 25 and below freezing. Fish both Bait fish and crayfish and deep and shallow. Ive pitched crayfish from the bank to bass (5 pounds plus) coming up on the grass flats to warm up with temperatures in the 20s.
Do you guys get frustrated with the boat traffic when you're having a tough time catching anything? I always get pissed when I'm having a bad day fishing and the boats keep rolling by.
@Stoney Lonsome that's awesome! Lake of the Ozarks gets crazy with boats on the weekend so I've always just figured it's the boaters making it hard to fish. I'll have to keep an eye on what the bait fish are doing and stay closer to arm openings going out to the main channel. Thank you!
@Stoney Lonsome Thank you. I'll have to try this next time I get down to my family's place. I appreciate the advice and tips.
