The sweet engine sounds from those big blocks make todays Nascar car sound like a basball card in spokes
Bobby Allison go Bobby go i yelled that a thousand times back in the day 🏁🏁🏁🏁
Imagine how much faster Allison could have run, if it weren't for the famous Coca-Cola shoebox! The major teams arguing amongst themselves, carburetion restrictions. You have a bigger carburetor than I do, oh yeah, you have a better aerodynamic body style then I do! And while Johnson, and the Petty camp debated the engine packages, Pearson cleaned house! Pearson climbed in that big Mercury,( Quicksilver) first ride Rebel 400 Darlington, that was the beginning of a five-year honeymoon! Best decision the woods brothers ever made! Something about the the body style really hugged the track, and they had rockets for engines! And of course the missing link....... silver fox!! By no means, was I ever a David Pearson fan! Pearson was all business playing the game! The man deserves very much credit! He really deserved to go in the first-round Hall of Fame! Most of the good rides had dried up, the economy was pathetic, the factories were long gone. The only hint of factory support( under the table)GM?.,.. considering the rules, all through the early mid-70s NASCAR was constantly tweaking engine rules. Looking back at the record book, during those times it reflects how and who was winning! Bill France was quite clear when saying ,you ain't going to stink my show up! Go Petty!!
Thanks for the video!
12:26. Bobby Isaac has a miserable 1972 with just one win and nonstop engine failures.
Since winning the 1970 championship Harry Hyde’s cars 1971-77 fell out of roughly 50% of the races his cars entered
In NASCAR. They also raced USAC in 72’ with men like Bobby Unser driving. They did very good at races i attended at Milwaukee Mile
Also NASCAR’s Grand National East tour in 1972. Isaac won four times in K&K Dodges that year
1:55 The BIG RED DODGE Keith Jackson & Chris Economaki could really call a race! 3:19 Petty switched from Plymouth to Dodge
I was at this race and the Daytona 500 in 1972.
72’, 73’, AND 74’
Same outcome David Pearson
