I just randomly stumbled upon your channel recently... and your Japanese is incredible - but then I heard you are just wanting to pass the JLPT N4?! JESUS As someone who wants to take and pass the JLPT N5 I guess I have truly underrated how much I need to know/be able to do in order to pass it T-T
Aw thank you so much! I actually missed the pass mark by 3% last year for the N4 so honestly, I would be studying for the N3 if it wasn't for my terrible listening score lol 😭 But you would only need a year for N5 and a year for N4. Plus I did other Japanese qualifications In high school before I took the JLPT. Plus, no speaking skills required for the JLPT, which is crazy right? So developing that skill required much more time than learning grammar and reading skills. Hope this helps :)))
Man, I wish I could go back to uni to study chinese or japanese. I majored in east asian studies with focus on korea and korean. The best choice I made, so far the happiest years of my life. I'm thinking of joining another major that I can do while working my current job - but I doubt that kind of uni program exists for language majors. I love your videos, they are so motivating and inspiring! Always looking forward to new ones.

Even if I get another chance to major at a University I would never major in Japanese. I majored in Anthropology and I do not regret it at all. I am currently learning Japanese 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 by myself.

Omg, I didn't even know they offered Japanese GCSE and A Level in this country!! Did you go to a private or international school? I try not to feel bad about it, but I do wish I stayed consistent from the time I first had an interested in Japanese in 2015. I took classes for a few months and self-study, but then life got in the way and I had a lot to deal with. I'm back to studying again properly now with an immersive approach and have also started learning lots of kanji & vocab each week so I can actually read! Would love to be where you are in a few years!! I am planning to continue with self-study and then go back to uni to do Japanese (hopefully in 2022 if I have enough money by then). 頑張ります！

8:26-8:44 hit me the hardest because I've taken science a-levels along with GCSE Japanese (soon, just passed the practical certificate) and I've realised how much I've enjoyed and appreciated learning languages; I'm applying for BA Korean but I'm still scared to tell my parents and they're still assuming I might take psychology or smth. I remember talking about taking Korean at uni and my mum just suggested I do dentistry and learn a language on the side :/ to be fair I haven't told them that you don't need an a-level language to take an East Asian language ab initio but...ugh...I've been stressing over uni courses since September...
One question here it’s not language related but I want to know what are you gonna do in the future as in a job way, I don’t know what job I want so I want to know other job listings by someone who learns languages :)
