Brilliant!! No need to bash him as it seems she really enjoyed having him on stage with her and the applause from the audience speaks for itself. If you have nothing good to say, say nothing.
When Dizzee comes on and you see Dame Shirley it's impossible to take your eyes off her. She's so elegant, and you know in the midst of him singing you're waiting for DSB to hit that note and it's as though he's just standing in the shadow of her and she takes back her glory and hits that note with such power. Never another woman in show business like her, she really defined what a diva meant when she was younger and perfected it as she's aged. Goosebumps go straight up your spine!
Absolutely spot on, it's one of the most magnificent and magnetic performances I've ever seen. And she has such a beautiful smile while watching him, even has a little dance, outstanding.
Gary Barlow showed Dizzee a list of available stars and Dizzee shouted Shirley Bassey without hesitation. Shirley's granddaughter was a fan of Dizzee and begged Grandma to do it!!! Here is the result......
Her superb voice is limitless to time ! Powerful, deep, strong, soft, and so soothing at the same time, that makes one never want her to stop singing ! Keep it up Dame Shirley ! We are with you all along !
A truly hymn to JOY, when she raises her arms and open that mouth a Mother Nature rumble and then flow with such a sweetness... I never get tired to watch this strength and happyness singing!!! Unique!!!
To those who left neg comments, from a life-long Bassey fan I have to say that this was done for a good cause and often introduces younger folk to artistes such as DSB who may not have had the fortune to experience her talents in the past. In the same way Louis Clark did for classical music new audiences in the 80's. This was a bit of fun, not a mistake. My 14 year old niece and her mates adore DSB now and are buying old albums on e-bay as a result !!
C'est la Puissance à l'état pur à 73 ans c'est une DIVA comme Streisand A.Franklin , comme quoi la nouvelle génération ne fait absolument pas le poids une fois encore . Très belle performance et très belle femme !
I am not really a Dizzee Rascal fan (the song Bonkers speaks for itself really), but when he does these 'duets' like this and the one with Florence & The Machine, his voice just works with the music so well. I can't understand him but I still love it. Add to this the fact that the song is a Bond song and he is singing with Dame Shirley Bassey (a truly great voice, so strong!), I mean it is just beyond words how good this version of the song is. By the way, I love the original version too.
Whether you like the rap or not is irrelevant, because Shirley welcomes it and encourages it. She’s proud her music can still be relevant and new musicians can love her music. That’s beautiful and what it’s all about.
It's really disappointing to see so many closed-minded people commenting on this page. MCing is not just some random talent anyone can pick up within a day or two. MCing, which is what that man was doing, takes practice, hard work, and skill. It's not crap. And clearly, Shirley Bassey was into it. You all assume that because she makes a certain kind of music that she must not like Hip Hop. Maybe she does, and that's why she seemed to enjoy herself when the man was rapping. Open your minds!
Shirley - you were stunning! Still have amazing voice - I want more. That jerk ruined your performance. I can't believe your stunning voice - regardless of your aging years - as beautiful as ever. I bow.... x
If any of you don't like it why do you search it? Personally i think it is an amazing combination of different talents coming together to raise money for a good cause.
I am glad you do, because not everybody has it. I really don't care what she does in her personal life, it's her life and not mine. I wish her all the best because the person gives birth to the artist. And the artist is fantastic, so I don't care what mistakes she does. She is human and to do mistakes is human. Don't tell me that you do not have mistakes and you are a Saint? Or you don't drink a glass of something never?:) They say artists are more famous in difficult times, I think it is true.
Her graciousness in this number only accentuated her amazing and distinctive talent in relief against a moderately entertaining rapper, who let's face it, is a dime a dozen.
She's obviously having fun, it was for Children in Need for God's sake, and it raised a shit tonne of money for those who need it - perhaps all of you who are complaining are the ones who need to open their eyes
Obviamente no fue un error, Prolinium. Y no tengo idea sobre quien es el negro, pero estoy de acuerdo con vos en cuanto a que esto sirve para que nuevas generaciones conozcan a la Dama. Una diosa FOREVER!!
One of my fave singer's of all time love this woman with all my heart, I wish Dizzee rascal hadn't come on he's such a nob head. Shirley always sell's that song being her Shirley is the best beautiful woman :]
Great idea. What a performance by both. BLEW IT OUT OF THE PARK. LOOK AT DAME SHIRLELYS EYES THEY WERE FULL OF SPARKLES. JOANN LAMONICA. ONEONTA NEW YORK 13820
Seems like an unpopular opinion, but I quite enjoy the respect that the two artists have for each other. And really the combinations of musical styles is interesting at the least
I like alot of modern music, dont like this though, but I do respect her for agreeing and being open minded enough to do it. The original is still the best.
74 year old Shirley Bassey delivers perfectly and her superb voice cleaves through Dizzee Rascal's clownish and incoherent interruption to conclude this monumental song and I'm sure that John Barry would have winced if he was alive at the time.
I wonder if anyone who sees this could ever understand the difference between true grace elegance and poise that someone like Shirley Bassey who is in her mid 70's and can still out sing anyone in today's world and then to have this crap join her on stage! I just felt like i was sinking into a shit whole! This woman has a career which has spanned 6 decades!
Well, I got chills when Dame Shirley sang. She is just amazing! I can understand their wanting to put some rap in the song, and it was okay, but maybe change the artist or do it better. I couldn't understand what Dizzee was saying half the time, so I was left a little flat with that element. But he tried, and I'm sure he was jazzed, and maybe nervous to share the stage with Dame Shirley. I've heard people talk about performing with her. They say she exudes incredible energy and you can really feel it, that it's palpable, when you are in the same area she is in. I can believe it, she is incredible! Long live Dame Shirley!
She took it nicely but get that guy out of there!!!!!!! You go girl, she end it with a nice note, put him in his place!!! Show them who the real talent is....She is such a lady.....
The idea was to blend the best of the old and the new, the best of their respective genres. Although it's not my favourite kind of music, Dizzee Rascal is the best grime rapper out there and for him to perform with Shirley Bassey was a pretty creative twist. If you don't like it, there's hundreds of other performances of Diamonds Are Forever without him in you can watch.
didn't care for the rap part........although I loved the way Ms. Bassey responded......it's just that I love to listen to her.....great lady....great voice.....great talent...........no one could have done the Bond music any better than she.........it's great that we live in the day of this technology so that we can enjoy talent such as hers
I'm 62 and a DSB fan since a kid....I enjoyed Dizzy....some people just thrive on negativity
Brilliant!! No need to bash him as it seems she really enjoyed having him on stage with her and the applause from the audience speaks for itself.
If you have nothing good to say, say nothing.

So agree with you! I had shivers all over my arms, she was incredible!
Absolutely spot on, it's one of the most magnificent and magnetic performances I've ever seen. And she has such a beautiful smile while watching him, even has a little dance, outstanding.
My GOD she is AMAZING!!! at her age and the voice is better than ever, so powerful.
Gary Barlow showed Dizzee a list of available stars and Dizzee shouted Shirley Bassey without hesitation. Shirley's granddaughter was a fan of Dizzee and begged Grandma to do it!!! Here is the result......
She was 72 here... I've never seen no 72 year old get down to a rap verse like that.... She's an international treasure, protect her of all costs
Absolutely wonderful…. Dizzee showed such respect.
Never delete this man, great example of grime and classic songs mixed together
Shes one hell of a singer here and dizzy should sing together more often
wow ..this is live..its beyond words how good the version of the song is..and Shirley dance with grace..I love it....
THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO SAY BUT-------BRAVO
Ms. Bassey's singing has made the lyric and melody of this song forever like diamond!!
Her superb voice is limitless to time ! Powerful, deep, strong, soft, and so soothing at the same time, that makes one never want her to stop singing ! Keep it up Dame Shirley ! We are with you all along !
There will be no current female singer when they are in their70's have the power talent and beauty that Bassey has
A truly hymn to JOY, when she raises her arms and open that mouth a Mother Nature rumble and then flow with such a sweetness... I never get tired to watch this strength and happyness singing!!! Unique!!!

This is by far the best version of this song!

Kanye sampled it and it sounded epic. Dizzee performed with the dame herself and it sounded epic. the dame sounds epic every time. perfect.

controversial opinion
Am i the only one who likes this, and sort of see it as two different times and styles coming together...rather well
