Absolutely ❤ LOVE how Dan spends time talking about a concept from ALL the perspectives, as they are equally important: Techniques + Music Theory + Musicality/Creativity/Resulting Sound. Always excellent material, excellently taught. Thanks, Dan!
Hi Dan, great clear video as always. Can you please make a video on how to play pentatonic shapes across fretboard, utilizing them for melody and fill creation (or else if you have already made one, pls do share the link). 😊i am struggling, even to connect the shapes, and when i do, don't know how to make anything melodic, out of it.. thanks
I don't remember which video was that you explained about the thumb rotating on the neck. Most people I saw talking about microshifting move the hand completely, which I don't think it's wrong (it's what I've been doing) but HELL! I started trying your tip about rotating and it made a HUGE difference on speed. Like 20-50% more. I'm still a newbie and I still need to work on speeding my hands more but shit, this technique looks like the "secret weapon" and allowed me to play Californication despite being only 2 weeks since I started playing (yes, no joke). For real. Just wanted to thank you about it, but I don't remember which video was! So I drop it here. Because your vids are always perfect. I can't wait to get your course next month.
@@OnlineBassCourses I did haha extra focused on getting on those shifts from Flea, still far from perfect but well… I don't blame myself, I just started! I sent you a message thru IG but maybe I'm on spam 😂 Like I promised, I'm back to get your course but I ended up with a lot of doubts. I'm unsure of which course would be better for me: "From Beginner To Bassist" or "Music Theory For Bass Players". I know there's some theory on the beginner but, maybe it would be better for me to go directly for 100% theory instead (as this is where I lack most). If I could, I would get both but yeah budget will just explode haha which one do you recommend to me? Aaaaand I'll get back again to get your motown and funk, those grooves are SICK!
@@AmandaCopeteShin, you're doing great. Flea stuff is hard to play. Just got the IG message and replied there. In short; theory course! Let me know if you have any other questions. IG is probably best for that.
That was a good lesson. I’m a I-IV-V guy, usually blues and 60-70s rock that is a bit more elaborate, but not like this. Imma gonna promise myself to look into your chords for bass lessons. They’d be fun to play during solo practice drills. Soloing from chords and scales in a melodic progression would be wonderful. Hmmm. Bet Stevie Wonders type songs could be approached this way. Gotta think. I haven’t looked, but maybe you’ve done some of those type melodies Dan?
For versatility's sake he is playing through a DAW (PC), using an Audio Interface that he is directly plugged into. Within that DAW, on his Bass's track, he has a plugin active: Waves CLA-Guitar. He has this track in "Live listen" mode. This is also how he is adding the jam-along drum track to play along with.
Very good analysis. Dunno if that info is on Dan’s page, but I have a similar type of equipment; Final Cut Pro, used through my Scarlett 4i4 interface. I’m on an iPad, which is a slight downgrade compared to a PC, but my neck of the woods hasn’t seen an internet provider willing to install for my neighborhood; yet. Promises though. But cellular data has to suffice until then. Regardless, I can duplicate most of the efforts. Even the lowly GarageBand app could probably suffice, as a simple DAW with plugins and an integrated drummer like “Kyle,” and others. Thanks again Dude!

This REALLY was a great lesson!
I was not quite sure how to finger/pluck cords! Thanks, Dan!
Very welcome!

@@OnlineBassCourses thanks for your help! and agree, Flea is hard as hell. Seems like I'm a masochist haha
@@AmandaCopeteShin, Check out my lesson coming out on Saturday. There'll be a (tough) Flea feature in there. You'll like it!
Hi Dan, are you using pedal (effects) on this one? Can you share what do you use. Sounded very good.
Thanks! Waves CLA Guitar plugin.
Very good lesson, those cords sound so good with the delay. Thanks Dan😊
Thank you for your videos, they are very useful!
i just wish i could have a lesson with you in person 👏thanks for this Dan!
🙏🙏🙏
Excellent!!
If one intends to be a self taught bass guitarist where should he start from.I'm practicing only the major and minor scales now.
Loads of things you can do! Go and check out the Start Here page on my website. That’ll give you lots to work on.

Thanks. I think I do have a couple of lessons like that. It might be best to search my videos on my main TH-cam channel page. 🙏👍
What a beautiful sound you have here. Which FX are you using? Just reverb?

@@Yazarastsu Thanks, I missed that part.
Yup that’s the one! Just the default setting when the plugin is opened up. Sounds good to me…
Practical thing. Thanks
Thank you Dan, it's very interesting to me. I tried to play it right now and my fingers got a "smile" from strings)))
Wonderful!
The chords sound really lush, are you using any effects to bring it out?
Thanks. Waves CLA plugin. Love it.
Oh I see, you the man. I got it. Subscribed and ready
🙏👍👊
Rocco Pallidino does actually a lot of songs with these chords.
SOUNDS VERY GOOD
That intro was beautiful, two hours later.. I've nearly got it.. but only nearly & my carpel is freakin killing me lol
Be careful with those stretches!
@@OnlineBassCourses 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm a bassist and I'm pretty advance but I have 1 problem I have a short fingers
You have to work with what you’ve got even if you have to adapt your technique. I’m sure you sound great!
That's OK for you Mr finger stretch have to use little finger to get the job dun 😂😂😂 more practice for me about 10k hours
You’ll get it, don’t worry!

Man that chord is hard to hold with the left
Stick at it and gradually work on the stretch - you’ll get it in time!
