Ahhhh the 80ies. I was born 1984 and this music does something with my heart. It is the theme of my early childhood. I feel at home hearing it but also incredible sad and a massive loss at the same time. The thought of how much the world has changed although pretty bad shit happened also back then, makes me sad. I think that this is what nostalgia does. You idealize your childhood and everything having to do with it becomes sacred. Untill you realize that it is the same for everyone in their time and with their youth. The idle time when your mom and dad were everything to you, your whole world, and that you never had to worry for important stuff like money, food, rent, taxes, only that mommy/daddy is not angry at you or were to play next, that is never coming back to you. But only if you had good parents. I miss my childhood. It was not perfect but it was a safe haven and I will never feel the security again, I had back then. I am a so called Millennial and my generation is the last one, which run out of the house without a mobile and our parents only could hope we would come back safe and sound for dinner. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for mobiles but I also miss my youth, 80ies and 90ies movies, the people I lost over the years and it is hard to see my parents get old. And now Corona on top of all. Both son and husband have since died. This song just is so bitter sweet, I didn't know I had these memories, its amazing how a song and piece of music has simply transported me back to a time in 1987,
Love is something that can suddenly end any time. Is an unreliable thing that can live you with your ass in the ground after you may have invested time, hope, dreams, efforts, devotion, money, carrier and much more. In other words, after you have invested your life. And life is only one, only one shot...and you may have it spoiled with an asshole that promised to love and cherish you for ever and in the end kicked you in the ass without even caring what is going to happen to you and your kids. The hardest thing in the world is hoping someone will change only to be constantly let down ! The way she looked around the corner and saw him sitting on the water fountain is heart breaking. She was waiting and hoping for him. But how long can you wait. How many chances can you try. Until she is finally gone

Baby sneezes Mummy pleases Daddy breezes in So good on paper So romantic But so bewildering I know nothing stays the same But if you're willing to play the game It's coming around again So don't mind if I fall apart There's more room in a broken heart You pay the grocer You fix the toaster You kiss the host Good-bye Then you break a window Burn the Souffle Scream a lullaby I know nothing stays the same But if you're willing to play the game It's coming around again So don't mind if I fall apart There's more room in a broken heart And I believe in love But what else can I do I'm so in love with you I know nothing stays the same But if you're willing to play the game It will be coming around again [repeat and fade]
Yeah, this song came out when I was a kid and I liked it but I didn't "get" it at all because as a 12 or 13-year-old you don't have any frame of reference to understand the lyrics. But when I heard it again when I was around 30 it was like really hearing it for the first time because I'd been in a marriage that was "so good on paper," things had started out "so romantic" and it was "so bewildering" when it didn't even last four years.
Time is illusion.... past, present, future, are all aspects of the eternal now. But our brains have been programmed to divide our own experience. Your as old and as young as you've ever been in reality. And alive within death.

I remember taping this song from the radio in '86 or '87. I was mid teens, still innocent. Ironic really but those good times won't be coming around again.
This is basically Nora Ephron telling us about her terrible marriage. The book is both heartbreaking and funny, and this film is worth seeing. I ended up staying in that same building she walks into, with the exquisite courtyard. I was borrowing someone's rent controlled flat and had no idea it was this iconic building, lol That scene flashed through my mind as soon as I saw it. Powerful.

Nakidz It’s been years since I’ve seen the film but I seem to remember thinking that it stuck pretty closely to the book, which is witty, absorbing and very well written. It even has recipes! As someone else has commented it makes you feel sorry that Nora Ephron had to live it, but as her mother (her parents were writers) told her, “everything is copy.”

This song just is so bitter sweet, I didn't know I had these memories, its amazing how a song and piece of music has simply transported me back to a time in 1987,
best songs never fade away, i love this song of Carly Simon.
this was such an underrated movie
Love these two actors together ,it shows how love can be so beautiful yet so complex at the same time .
I wished they would make another movie together again
Love is something that can suddenly end any time. Is an unreliable thing that can live you with your ass in the ground after you may have invested time, hope, dreams, efforts, devotion, money, carrier and much more. In other words, after you have invested your life.
And life is only one, only one shot...and you may have it spoiled with an asshole that promised to love and cherish you for ever and in the end kicked you in the ass without even caring what is going to happen to you and your kids.
Bullshit!
I wake up to this song everyday. Its a pleasant way to begin the day.😊
I let it play all the way through , then get up😊😊
it's not necceseraly a yearning to go back in time to the 80s...but a real desire to replicate the spirit of who we was during that period of time.. .the best of our years....but unlike the songs title...it won't be comin around again...
Yup. It's not really saying "I want to go back to the 80s", it's saying "I want to be young again".

you got it my friend.
it probably happens to all of us....eventually!
Love this song and Heartburn one of my favourite films with Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson ❤️
I literally thought I wrote this comment xx
Está hermosa canción toca las fibras de mi corazón, tanto Carly Simón y Meryl Streep, son dos grandes cantante y actriz, respectivamente. Un aplausos a ambas, y gracias a Carly por tan bella canción.
They are amazing actors. They are so good. It does not matter when, where...the human behaviour stays the same.
she wasnt even nominated for this masterpiece of acting
Pascoe Braun they compensated it with Sophie’s Choice
@@ShweMyaukMyauk Huh??? Sophie's Choice was years before this.
Loved the movie! Love the song! Classic! I was 16 when I seen this movie. On a first date with a 21 year old! Did not appreciate this movie as much then but love and understand now at 51
Great song and performance by Carly!
The hardest thing in the world is hoping someone will change only to be constantly let down ! The way she looked around the corner and saw him sitting on the water fountain is heart breaking. She was waiting and hoping for him. But how long can you wait. How many chances can you try. Until she is finally gone

My heart burnt into crisp watching this ❤
Gosh, I love movies that took place in New York in the 1980's. I wish I could've been there!
It was a fascinating, creative time in the city. Also, a heartbreaking, brutal time, with homelessness and AIDs lurking about.
My son was born when this song came out and it comforted me greatly. Her voice and words are timeless. I am a true fan of all her songs! Itsy Bitsy Spider too
Muito lindas as músicas dos anos 80. Não me canso de ouvir!
Whoa! The once off 80s never to be repeated--come on find that time machine , lets head out...awesome muzak all over again!
"I believe in love but what else can I do, I'm so in love with you. " ❤️

Mummy pleases
Daddy breezes in
So good on paper
So romantic
But so bewildering
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
You pay the grocer
You fix the toaster
You kiss the host Good-bye
Then you break a window
Burn the Souffle
Scream a lullaby
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
And I believe in love
But what else can I do

But if you're willing to play the game
It will be coming around again

I never realised what a super sad song this is.
Yes!
Well it's never been any happier.

I saw this at the cinema and I thought Jack was old...now I am years older than he was in this...but where did the time go.
Now you see how young he actually was
Time is illusion.... past, present, future, are all aspects of the eternal now. But our brains have been programmed to divide our own experience. Your as old and as young as you've ever been in reality. And alive within death.
As Time Goes By. Mr. Stewart sings an excellent version also but Carly's touches me.
Ditto mate! TIME IS SURREAL 😮
God I loved this movie so much, will watch again and again.
Perfeita insonia na manha de sabado com dois EXCELENTES CLASSICOS : Mary Streepa e Jack Nicholson Carl Simon...Obrigada por postar👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

Such a good time the 80s men worked kids had shows to watch ...Now young men are so sad not all but most
I absolutely love this song brings back good memories.
Dos de los mejores actores juntos en una bonita película que me encantó en su momento y a lo largo de los años he vuelto a ver , me encanta recordarla viendo este vídeo con esta preciosa banda sonora !!! ❤️
If you put this together yourself, it is BRILLIANTLY done. Great job.
Jack Nicholson. ..how I love him. Plays the greatest lover in love stories... He is as well a truly good man.💞💗.. Meryl is an outstanding actress... Heartburn. ! 💞💗
I have this film on DVD. I loooove old films and I loved the soundtrack. Such a good film.
Greatest decade ever ‘80’s
This song breaks my heart. I’ve found and lost love too. A broken heart never heals fully. 😢
The movie and the song make me think of Diana de Wales.
Damn. Chad always hurt deep.
@@ferreira991 😂Like an extra pain, if I may say so, a cinematic one, unfair and undignified. There are small/big subtleties I noticed, and the year the film was released also matches his family history. 🌹
I love you dad..I love you my sons...I love you mom..I love you my siblings ..I love you my family.
This song came out in the 70's. Only it was used a theme song from an 80's Movie. Always a fave song, with an unforgetable lyrics "i belive in Love, but what else can i do? im so inlove with you. "
I feel what you feeling!I had my first heart attack! My dog Angel was loving me!He knew what was going on! before I did! He's gone now,! And I MISS HIM SO MUCH!!
what a great great song - it charted on Top 10 in Austria... remembering that great Impact of that synth Arrangement... and Carlys unique voice….
I LOVE that movie and really like the song too!!

My heart is forever broken. I just move thru life like a jellyfish. Ride the wave go with the flow. This is the first time I've admitted this.
@Shay Shay I’m so sorry that happened to you. I hope & pray that one day you’ll feel differently. I had ‘that’ one amazing person, & let him go. Only to repair our relationship later & lose him to that awful big ‘C.’ But I cherish my children & memories & utilize Awsome music to touch my soul when I need a reminder of our great, ordinary, or sometimes difficult times. Good luck to you!
I still remember my mom watching this film once she left my dad. This song brings back memories. Good ones though
I remember taping this song from the radio in '86 or '87. I was mid teens, still innocent.
Ironic really but those good times won't be coming around again.
Que linda canción, amo la melodía y Carly diosa total ❤🎉
Loved this movie! 💗Meryl is a natural and Jack, what can I tell ya? 😘
Powerful.

Heartburn is a brilliant book. I miss Nora Ephron ☹️
Cindy Martha I’ll have to read it! Thank you for the (indirect) suggestion! :) I feel like I could relate, if this video is anything like the book. I’ve never seen this movie.
